⢠This film shows the relationship between the old and new times. Louisa is the old lady and she is a lot
more open to her sexuality. She has live her life being in that role and so she should be. She feels a lot
more comfortable telling people who she is. Becca considers it to be a phrase and there's a bit where
she mentions that she will just wait till she meets a man she fancies. The structure of the story was a
certain aspect I liked the most. It goes full circle with the scene where they drive away from the house
and across the bridge. This is proof that it would work more as an episode than a movie because you
would need a lot more to fill in and it just wouldnât work as well. Whilst the beginning and the end is
structured the same. It is a lot more different with the character development that has progressive
changed because of what the two characters have been through they are a lot more open and friendly
with each other. Beccaâs has also developed a lot more of a carefree attitude through the actions of
Louisa. The only thing that was off putting was the acting the line delivery. It felt forced through some
scenes. However in terms of storytelling I think itâs really. I would recommend this film to people who
have asked what it is like. It tackles delicate subjects when it comes to talking about your sexuality and
coming out. It feels like it is encouraging anyone that is having these thoughts to be true with who they
are. The main theme is friendship especially in the eyes of Louisa. She has been lonely for a while now
and she has lot her friends. This is evident from when none of her friends show up at the pub for the
reunion. Whilst she is at a old age. There's a happy ending where she builds a new friendship which she
didnât think was possible from someone who she didnât think she would care for at the beginning at the
film. The one aspect that my FMP can relate to with this story is friendship, whilst Iâm only showing a
small excerpt of my story in my FMP. Friendship can be seen through there to. Friendship such an
important part to the characterâs personality in the story and the story can fall flat without it.

⢠This film tackles something which can rather distressing. The loss of losing someone who you love.
Whilst I like the story and found it to be engaging. I do think the message itâs sending isnât the best. I
think just because itâs a short film it went by very quick. You saw the loss and the vulnerability of the
character when he was crying his eyes out of the death of his boyfriend. It presents grief in a good
manner and show how important it is but the way they execute of it with his partner just telling him to
move on doesnât feel very realistic. His partner is still there with him. He affects some of his day to day
issues. Even to the point where he thought about killing his current partner through the influence of
what he though his previous lover would want. The coin is the symbolism for letting go. When he drops
it onto the grave. This film tackles emotions really well. Someone who is grieving so heavily that they
have conversations in their head with what their previous partner would have said. There's a dark edge
to the story too. When the deceased lover is telling him to kill her and then we can be together. Thatâs
really just him saying that he's not over the loss and he doesnât want that affection from anyone else.
However the main theme is letting go and moving on. Whilst I do think it is rushed. The payoff is the
end when he drops the coin on the grave and walks off. No music just the uses of the foley sounds on
the screen. To make you feel like you have been through a journey with them and your walking away
from te grave too.

⢠The biggest key theme that this short film has to offer is the misinterpretation and stereotyping of
certain racial figures. The sequence where they are fighting and trying to take of the mask of the
assumed stenotypes shows the battle that people have to go through. There's a lot of built up flashes
giving of the edge that we are seeing these stereotypes but they are flashes. Like people causally
mention them within conversation. Personally whilst I thought that the story was lot more deep and
driven than the other two. Tackling issues that a lot of ethnicity groups have to go through. However
If I was to recommend somebody to watch this as I do believe these type of films are important. I
would tell them to read what its about first. After I finished watching I had to look up some
information first. Then when realising what the chorography stood for and what the message meant.
It felt a lot more engaging with what they were doing. The relationship between the two characters is
an interest9ing one because of politics changes the mood of the scene. They both can be seen as two
friends that have gone out to eat and then because their opinions clash with the talk of politics. The
mood juxtaposes becoming a lot more hostile. This is also another strong message that politics can
make people turn on each other. The shots where they are eating and the food is going down their
mouths makes an uncomfortable shot but because itâs a raw, delicate subject matter it fits in well
with the scene. For my FMP I will be taking an excerpt out of the book Iâm currently making. Whilst
the bit Iâve picked out doesnât focus on racism. Racism is an issue in the story with one of the main
characters being black. Though because it is set in the 80âs itâs a lot more extreme to racial abuse
then stereotyping which can also be seen as abuse but in book Iâm making itâs a lot more physical and
harsher because of the time period where such issues werenât taken as seriously.

⢠This documentary focuses a lot on the voices of introverts that have been hidden over the years
through political debates. We see the harsh though honest examples of how loud and violent politics
can be. The shy radicals is a movement group for introverts that want their voices to be hear. Whilst
Iâm not a big political person. I do support this group fully. I do consider this group not to be a pollical
place of study because it is full of people that have many diverse opinions. Its not just one group that
believe in the same thing. However the one thing that they do believe in is that introvert people
deserve a voice just as much as extrovert people. This story focuses on a man within the asperges
spectrum who has been introverted most of his life and has started this movement. It shows you how
corrupt t the injustice system can be. When his brother was taken into prison for seven years on the
website he was looking at. Injustice is a theme to this and that campaigning should be a thing this is
where the shy radicals movement comes into it. Its the extrovert supremacy which is needs taking
down. Something that I agree. People can be loud about their views and opinions but it doesnât make
it fair for the more quieter people. The extroverts are getting heard a lot more than the introverts.
People within in the spectrum are a lot more quitter because they are lot more anxious and for that
they need to have their voices be heard too. From a filmmakers point of view. I really appreciate how
they have told the story and have had some shots in a old super camera footage to show that we are
really going through his life. I would recommend this documentary to people but unlike the other films
it depends who you target it to. Thereâs a lot of extrovert people out there that just want their opinions
to be heard and donât mind going to the campaign protests.

⢠My sweet prince is a short film that focuses on a boy that has a unhappy life with how he lives. At the
start he is with a group of friends which donât set a good example at all. They are bunking of school
and then smoking a substance in which they should. This leads to the breaking point of the character.
He runs ways and rather like the third film seen you can see the vulnerable nature of this character. He
doesnât know what to do with his life. The story is about online safety. With this being set in the 90âs.
The warning for online safety werenât there and so people were more likely to get hacked or in trouble
with other users, whilst I never fully understood why. The scenes jump cut from old footage of the
character in real life back then. Old found footage of how he used to mess around with his mates and
the trouble that they used to cause. It is also hinted that this is someone that is isnât open about their
sexuality possibly because they worry what other people think. The person he is talking to is seen as
escapism for him and also possibly hinted towards being a love interest. What I liked about the films is
the shots that were made especially at the beginning. The shots which are being filmed are foggy
because of the amount that they are smoking. This gives the film a rather ominous feel and makes
scene different to the rest of the film. Whilst there isnât much here that hold relation to the film with
my film being set in the 80âs not 90âs. So that there's no computers in this time. I do think that the
most important element to take is how different it was when holding up to comparison of going out
with you mates and talking online. The 90âs felt like that turning point where you didnât need to go out.
You could just talk to your mates online. So what I think this film is trying to show is the turning point
of where we changed from now to how much we used to go out.

⢠This film was most certainly the most difficult to watch. It shows the deep pressures
that a young girl has to go through. This one was by far the saddest and you felt
nothing but sympthay for the young girl. The story is a Olympic gymnast who is forced
to get pregnant by who middle aged gymnast in order to have an abortion after to
help with her menstruate. Now as a supporter I thought halfway through that her
instructor was being rather odd about her getting pregnant. You think as a viewer
that her boyfriend got her pregnant and so you think the instructor being rather calm
when you put him into comparison to how he was treating her at the beginning but
then you find out that it was his plan all along. You really do see the deep sadness on
the girls face even when you donât know what's happened. She is treated more of a
lab rat then a human being and as a viewer you feel disgusted by what's happening.
The shots when thought about show you the mind of whhow she is feeling. When she
is the air perfoming in slow motion. That can be seen as a methaphor of how her
mind is constantly lingering with bad thoughts and pressures that she doesnât want.

⢠This films delves mainly upon the loss of another one. We see ruth Wilson's
character play two people that are in pain from their loneliness and use poetic
techniques in order to express how they are feeling. It also shows how people
react to pain differently which was something in rather liked. Showing that the
one with dog knew her place in life and was severely depressed by it. The
Russian taxi driver shared the same feelings of loss but was happier with other
things. Taking her job seriously. Rating herself depending on the amound of
minutes that she thought talking was acceptable despite her being a taxi driver.
This film unlike the previous one is not one I would recommend. Its too
confusing to adapt to. There's a lot of elements to it which didnât feel like they
were needed and lost me. Such as the scene when see got in the taxi to meet
the other women. Bitr just felt like exposition and there wasnât anything added
to it.

⢠This film touches upon the delicate but important topic of immigration. I would seriously
recommended to people who donât sympathise with these immigrant. A lot of people are
clueless to the real horror that have been brough to immigration and so there they form their
own opinion that immigrant shouldnât be allowed to travel to our country. It wonât change
their opinion but they will become more open minded to the fact that people are being
horrendously treated in some countries. I think with this film unlike the other the
cinematography and what we were seeing was actually less important. Horrofic but less
important. What was being printed into my mind was what I was hearing the guy say. That
they would rather be in horrific cold wet areas then be back home because it is too
distressing for them. This just shows how horrific it is in their country and we have a duty as a
human race to protect one enough no matter what country your from. The world is too small
to not care about others. Whilst all this stuff is powerful the filmmaking is done excellent
when observing too. The sky that they are walking to in this one shot is glorious and could
possibly symbolise some sort of haven as they are escaping the hell that was brought to their
homes. Another interesting point is that there is no dialogue. There isnât anything there that
takes you away from the scene So you are constantly on the lookout for anything there whilst
you are being hypnotised by what he is saying.

⢠Joey is a story of a guy who is dressed as a clown and is suffering from depression because of how
alone he is. You think that the makeup is part of his job but then he meets a girl who he likes. They go
back to his place and when he falls asleep. She ends up rubbing his skin which turn she turns out to
have the clown make up underneath. This film I actually enjoyed the most out of the all the others
watched. I think cold warrior would be the most important to watch because I bet itâs something that
that a lot of people didnât know. I found this the most enjoyable because it had the elements that
made it more enjoyable than the others. The main is the twist. A depressed man meets a nice girl and
his life is getting better. You things might get better. Then when she finds he is wearing make up it
becomes scary and dark but then the romance comes back and it feels even more stronger. You
genuinely feels hopeless for the character when he is about to kill himself. You feel really sorry him and
to anyone who can relate to him can find that emotional . There nothing visually striking or uunique in
eerms of filmmaking. It relies on its uses of storytelling. A lot of it is enclosed, small and, grey and dull
but this is effective because the surrounding of where he is is a metaphor for how he is feeling. He
meets this girl they go to the funfair and all the lights are lit up to show his happiness and mood when
being with her. There are part of this film that can relate to my FMP. The romantic part can. The
problem is there is a lot of romantic stuff in a lot of film products but when they are done right and not
shoehorned in. Then they make effective storytelling like this short film.

⢠This documentary was very informative and focused briefly on the many aspects needed to be a
filmmaker. From tight framing to editing afterwards. Showing the effects of colourisation by using the tv
show âkilling Eveâ as an example. The documentary broke down scene by scene why it had been altered
afterwards and the affect that it has on the audience. Everything captured within the mis-en-scene has
a purpose. Whether itâs lighting or props or characters or camera shifts. Thatâs was the biggest take I got
from watching this documentary. The documentary was for the most beneficial and interesting thing to
watch. The after effects put into production is what makes the shot even more beautiful. This shot takes
a particular interest on the cinematographer that has inspired me the most. Roger Deakins who has
done the filmography for films such as 2019âs â1917â and James Bondâs âSkyfallâ (2012). It shows the
comparisons between the two films. Having had the same director and the same composer. The biggest
element that is noticeable is the colouring within each scene. Focusing on the darker grey hueâs to show
the seriousness of the scene and then the iconic dark silhouette with the orange fire in the background
which has had him nominated for winning Oscarâs. This short has given me another way at looking at
what I enjoy working on. When going to university next year to carry on with my creative media. I shall
be looking a lot more at the advanced equipment down there. Seeing what's on the screen is the most
interesting element but I also need to focus my mind more on the technical and practical side of it. This
short has developed that even further. Breaking through how the cameraâs were operated in each scene
of the film they were breaking down

⢠Dop stands for director of photography. This is the person that illustrates every aspect that should
appear on the screen. Tim Palmer who was most notable for working on the BBC series âLine of dutyâ
along with a few other including Kate Reid and a few others. Cinematography and this field are pretty
much the same thing. However when working as a cinematographer you have a smaller crew and less
cameras. This profession also focuses a lot more on the props in the scene and less on the scene is
filmed. The department is a lot more bigger and intertwines with other roles. Such as the props
department costume designer and location designer. This meaning that there is an even bigger
department needed for this role. The biggest thing I learnt from watching this is how important this
profession is and how large it is. It covers cameraâs lighting, design, film stock, shot composition and
directing the gafferâs (person in charge) placement in lighting when it comes to shooting the scene.
Whilst in terms of a career choice if I ever got given the role of working within this profession. Then it
would be a lucky one but cinematography is my biggest passion when it comes to setting the scene in a
film. This short also focuses on the relationship between then director. You have to find out what the
directorâs visions is of the film and settle on the best aspect that will tell the story. The themes and the
style is the most important part which the dop has to get right. Another thing which I learnt from this is
the involvement needed for the film. Looking at the scripts and the storyboard. Needing to know the
story and the production as much as the director does. Every action conveys a particular meaning.
Which shows how much you need to follow up on in the script in order to the set the tone of what's
happening.

⢠The main reason I chose this particular programme to watch because itâs a particular area which I have
never really looked much into unless its been work at college. This short documentary focuses on foley
sound and sound effects added after filming. This is the special effects that is created by the sound
team. The section that I enjoyed watching the most is the creativity into watching the creativity of foley.
This documentary shows the behind the scenes of how these effects are created. A clap can be adjusted
to sound like a gunshot if amplified to the right amount of decibels afterwards. Especially with the 21st
century. Sound has become one of the most important aspects. Technology has become a lot more
advanced and a lot more is being heard. When going into virtual experience its opened up a whole
different dimension of creating 4D sound. This is where the sound is virtual and comes out within 360
speakers. Meaning you are able hear the sound all around you. The virtual experience of being able to
hear the sound come out from the eerie cave or at a busy airport were also a few of my favourite things
with this programme. It shows the contrast of how each sound is depending on the area of where that
person is at. I am hoping to create my own music using garage band for my FMP. So whilst this wasnât
totally informative because sfx and music are two different things. I did pick up on the various things
you can add to the sfx by its locational area. Music and sfx do of course link as well. If you were to have
music in the background of a scene thatâs shot in cave. You wouldnât have anything too loud. It would be
slow and would have a slight echo to it to fit in with the eeriness. No matter what genre your doing the
film for. Theses particular points are most important because its makes sense to the location
surroundings.

⢠The main reason I chose this particular programme is because of the importance that it holds to my
FMP. My FMP project is an excerpt from a book Iâm making. This particular except has been translated
into a script and will be filmed. Storytelling has been a major part of my life whislt making this book
because I have gone through the various technueqs and what is need ed in order ot structure the story
in a way that it doesn't look like its been messily thrown in. Whilst this short programme didnât
breakdown the overall analysis into how stories are structured. It did focus on what the characters are
meant to represent and how each character has been given a title of antagonist, protagonist etc. This
particular program delved more into the deeper meaning behind stories. How they tackle issues that
there target audience is dealing with and how it can give some answers to problems. Its directed not
just at young screenwriter but I felt like this programme was directed at everyone. Whilst emotive
conveyance can come from many different angles through sight. Such as a particular action being taken
on screen or uses of the colour wheel to the set the tone of the moods that is needed. The most
common use of making the audience feel their emotions and get into the story is itâs verbal use.
Whatever is produced on the script is the most important part. This showing was hosted by students at
the university of York and they were taking degrees into English literature and other works of art into
that particular subject. Showcasing their range of knowledge in this particular subject and explaining
their experiences of the says that they had to produce talking about the importance of storytelling.
