3. Introduction of atresia ani
Atresia ani is a congenital defect of new borne farm animals ,
characterized by-
• Absence of anal opening ,
• straining but no defication
• Distension of belly, no sucking of milk, restlessness, unthriftiness
• no sucking of milk
• restlessness, unthriftiness
10. Surgical procedure
• A circular incision was made upon the bulge of the anus and the
circular piece of incised skin was removed
• Liquid feces or meconium came out immediately

• The patency of opening was maintained by application of simple
interrupted sutures between rectal mucosa and skin to make a
permanent anal orifice.
15. Post Operative Care
• Inj. Histavet-10 ml vial (1)
sig. inject 1.5 ml IM daily for 5 days
• Inj. Ketovet-10 ml vial (1)
sig. inject 1.5 ml IM daily for 5 days
• Inj. Streptopen-.5gm vial (5)
sig. inject 1 vial IM daily for 5 days
