Students are divided into groups
of four (4).
If cannot get complete groups of
four, minimum 3 students in a
group. But minimize number of
groups.
Eg. In a class of 29 students:
5 groups x 4 students = 20
students
3 groups x 3 students = 9
students

The students are “labelled” as
Candidate A, Candidate B,
Candidate C and Candidate D.
Students need to complete 2
tasks:
Task A – Individual Presentation
Task B – Group Discussion

4. Task A Individual Presentation
Students are given their task
sheets.
They read the situation given.
If they do not understand the
meaning of any word, they can ask
the examiner(s).
They are given 2 minutes to prepare
their points.
They are given 2 minutes to present
their points.
5. Task A…cont.
While a candidate is presenting
his/her points, the other
candidates jot down the points.
They use these points for the
Group Discussion.
When Candidate D has finished
presenting his/her points, 2
minutes is given to prepare for
Task B.
6. Task B Group Discussion
Candidates are not allowed to
discuss during the 2-minute
preparation.
Any candidate can start the
discussion.
A consensus/conclusion has to
be reached within the 10
minutes of discussion.
They are to conclude on the BEST
option.
7. Task B Tips
Before the Speaking Task starts,
candidates can strategize for
Group Discussion.
Out of the 4 candidates, each
may volunteer to:
start the discussion
conclude the discussion
be the time keeper
The time keeper signals the
other candidates on the timing
to conclude the discussion.
