Intersection of sets
The intersection of the sets A and B is a set which consists of all common elements of A and
B. Formally, it is written A  B = {x xA and xB}
Union of sets
The union of the sets A and B is a set whose elements are elements both sets.
It is denoted by A  B = {x xA or xB}

  • 1. LESSON PLAN School : Junior High School 9 Palembang Subject : Mathematics Class / Semester : VII (Seven) / Even Time Allocation : 2 x 40 minutes Standard of Competency : 4. Using the concept of set and Venn diagram in problem solving Basic Competency : 4.3 Doing the operation of intersection, union, difference and complement of set. Acquired Competence Indicators 1. Determine the intersection of sets 2. Determine the union of sets A. Learning Objectives By discussions, students are able to: 1. Determine the intersection of sets. 2. Determine the union of sets. Learning Material Intersection of sets The intersection of the sets A and B is a set which consists of all common elements of A and B. Formally, it is written A  B = {x xA and xB} Union of sets The union of the sets A and B is a set whose elements are elements both sets. It is denoted by A  B = {x xA or xB} D.   • 2. E. Learning Methods : Direct instruction, discussion, interactive and discovery. F. Teaching and Learning Objectives INTRODUCTION Time  Teacher reminds what they learn of the last meeting.  Teacher gives some examples in our daily life about set.  Teacher informs the learning objectives.  Student pay atention of teacher’s explanation.  Students respond teacher’s question. 7’ 3’ MAIN ACTIVITY Exploration  Teacher divides students into 5 group, its consist into 3 or 4 students.  Teacher gives the worksheet.  Teacher gives some questions about intersection and union in the worksheet.  Teacher guides discussion how to determine the intersection and union of sets. Elaboration  Teacher ask one of students to inform the result and ask the other to respons it.  Teacher guide the class disscusion.  From the class discussion, teacher guides students to summarize. Confirmation  Teacher gives the exercises.  Students join each of group.  Students read the worksheet.  Students answer the question in the worksheet.  Students discuss how to determine the interaction and union of sets.  One of student informs the result about intersection and union through worksheet.  Other students respond the result.  Students summarize the result.  Students answer the exercises. 3’ 5’ 12’ 15’ 15’ 15’ CLOSING
