 The research is to categorize Students Motivation
of Learning English at KPTM Bangi.
 The research is a quantitative – survey research.
 The sampling technique is stratified sampling
 If the findings are encouraging for intrinsic
motivation at KPTM Bangi. Further
recommendation can be made to KPTM
administration to improve students’ English
proficiency
 “integrative motivation (intrinsic) has been found to sustain a
long term succes in learning a second language (Taylor,
Meynard & Rheault, 1977; Ellis, 1999; Crookes & Schimdt,
1991)
 Lukhmani (1972) found that instrumental motivation
(extrinsic) was more important than intergrative orientation in
non-westernized female learners of second language English
in India.
 Vansteenkiste, Simons, Lens, Sheldon and Deci (2004) found
that greater processing, persistence and academic
achievement occurred when learning activities were
presented as an intrinsic goal.
 Attendance and achievement for YPM
Sponsored MUET Prog of KPTM Bangi
students are not satisfactory.
 English proficiency among Malaysian
graduates are alarmingly decreasing.
 They score good great for English papers but
cannot communicate in the real world. What
happen? Pass exam/Score A? Extrinsic?
The objective of the research are:
 To find out whether KPTM bangi students are intrinsically or
extrinsically motivated in learning English
 To find out which female or male students of KPTM Bangi are
intrinsically motiveted to learn English.
 To find out which female or male students of KPTM Bangi are
extrinsically motiveted to learn English.
 To find out whether any other factors at KPTM Bangi that
could improve the students intrinsic motivation to learn
English.
 Which type of motivation – intrinsic motivation
and extrinsic motivation – exist among KPTM
bangi students?
 Which gender is more intrinsically motivated in
learning English?
 Which gender is more extrinsically motivated in
learning English?
 How to improve students intrinsic motivation for
learning English at KPTM Bangi?

 The approach of this research is a quatitative
approach
 This is a survey research design that uses
questionnaire as its intrument in collection of
the data.
 Sampling – Stratified Sampling
 The instrument that will be used in the research is questionnaire. Adaptation of Paul
Pintrich’s Motivated Strategies For Learning Questionnaire.
 The questionnaire is divided into 4 parts

A study of Motivation of English Learning of KPTM Bangi Students.

  • 2.  The research is to categorize Students Motivation of Learning English at KPTM Bangi.  The research is a quantitative – survey research.  The sampling technique is stratified sampling  If the findings are encouraging for intrinsic motivation at KPTM Bangi. Further recommendation can be made to KPTM administration to improve students’ English proficiency
  • 3.  “integrative motivation (intrinsic) has been found to sustain a long term succes in learning a second language (Taylor, Meynard & Rheault, 1977; Ellis, 1999; Crookes & Schimdt, 1991)  Lukhmani (1972) found that instrumental motivation (extrinsic) was more important than intergrative orientation in non-westernized female learners of second language English in India.  Vansteenkiste, Simons, Lens, Sheldon and Deci (2004) found that greater processing, persistence and academic achievement occurred when learning activities were presented as an intrinsic goal.
  • 4.  Attendance and achievement for YPM Sponsored MUET Prog of KPTM Bangi students are not satisfactory.  English proficiency among Malaysian graduates are alarmingly decreasing.  They score good great for English papers but cannot communicate in the real world. What happen? Pass exam/Score A? Extrinsic?
  • 5. The objective of the research are:  To find out whether KPTM bangi students are intrinsically or extrinsically motivated in learning English  To find out which female or male students of KPTM Bangi are intrinsically motiveted to learn English.  To find out which female or male students of KPTM Bangi are extrinsically motiveted to learn English.  To find out whether any other factors at KPTM Bangi that could improve the students intrinsic motivation to learn English.
  • 6.  Which type of motivation – intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation – exist among KPTM bangi students?  Which gender is more intrinsically motivated in learning English?  Which gender is more extrinsically motivated in learning English?  How to improve students intrinsic motivation for learning English at KPTM Bangi?
  • 8.  The approach of this research is a quatitative approach  This is a survey research design that uses questionnaire as its intrument in collection of the data.  Sampling – Stratified Sampling
  • 9.  The instrument that will be used in the research is questionnaire. Adaptation of Paul Pintrich’s Motivated Strategies For Learning Questionnaire.  The questionnaire is divided into 4 parts PART FUNCTION ELABORATION Part A Demographic sect:- Program, Gender, Semester, Age, Level of Education, Latest English subject and results, To identify and categorizes the independent variables Part B 5 point Likert scale to measure intrinsic motivation No of items: 4 Strongly agree – Strongly disagree Part C 5 point Likert scale to measure Extrinsic Motivation No of Items: 4 Strongly agree – Strongly disagree Part D Open Ended question To gather information on what factors that the students thinks about how to improve their intrinsic motivation (teachers, peers, college environment)
