1. Audience Feedback.
Once I had edited and finished my music video I then sent a questionnaire to people I knew
such as family and friends who I knew had watched it, which revealed the data above. I was
able to understand what people thought of my music video and this allowed me to adapt and
change segments of the video to better match the genre of both the song and band.
I also sat down 20 people in a room I knew from college who had not yet seen my video and
offered them snacks as a reward for watching my music video and answering some questions
about it. I sat them down and played the music video without any audio and asked everyone
which genre did they believe the song would be after having watched the music video.
1. Pop
2. Heavy Metal
3. Indie Rock
4. Classical
The results concluded that 17/20 was correct in guessing the genre of the song. And
reinforces that I had been successful in creating a music video that represent the band
positively. I then showed it to them for a second time, this time with audio and they were
asked to answer the same question which every single participant answered ‘Indie Rock.’
I also asked how people may describe the video in one word some of the responses are
revealed in the top right box.

Conclusion
After having people guess the genre of
the music video by allowing them to
watch it without listening to the song or
audio, I was reassured that I had created
a music video that conforms to the style
I was attempting to achieve.
2. I also put forward the question on the questionnaire
for after they had seen the music video with the audio,
“What might you suggest I change to improve the
video?”
I got a few constructive and extremely useful
comments.
- I couldn’t decide if the video was primarily
narrative or contemporary.
- Could use some more cut scenes
- Stabilise some of the shots
This was very useful and because of it I feel like I was
able to improve the video massively. I stabilized
several shots which weren’t stable enough. And
included some shots that I didn’t previously have in
there which I believed added more context to the
narrative. Other than my opening cinematography
scene. And using some of the shots I added In I created
a few more cut shots which I felt better accompanied
the music to change sot between the beats.
