The study
 This study explored different types of intimate partner
violence (ipv) perpetrators (and victims) in Mexican
clinical and non-clinical samples and the differential
mental effects among ipv types through Johnson’s
typological framework.

Methods
 A total of 365 participants (court-mandated men to
intervention programs, victims of domestic violence
seeking psychological support and male and female
high school students) provided information about their
IPV perpetration/victimization experiences and data on
several mental health indicators.

Results
 Less-controlling violence prevails in non-clinical
samples, and more high-controlling IPV prevails in
clinical samples, the latter more frequently reported to
be mutually-perpetrated. More adverse mental health
effects were associated to more coercive IPV.

Discussion
 Implications indicate the need to acknowledge the
heterogeneity of IPV in practice and research in clinical
and non-clinical samples in Mexico.

Suicidal behavior is able to be influenced by many factors that are both internal and external. While external factors such as the media may pose as an influence, internal factors such as genetics or situational stress may pose as influences as well. A new study that the group would create to answer the remaining unanswered questions would be to incorporate as many individuals as possible with a mass survey. The individuals that the survey targets would be those who are currently experiencing suicide related situations or have experienced suicidal situations in the past. Also, this survey would be inclusive to ask questions about what the causes are for the individuals to contemplate suicide. The external factors outside of the targeted group, the survey would be the media and its effect on suicidal influence, benefactors of the suicidal community, and those related to the suicidal individuals. To ensure gaining questions to remaining unanswered questions, the survey can ask questions concerning the external factors. Our group would set out to answer the following research question: “Is it possible to prevent suicidal influences by taking preemptive measures?” The hypothesis would be if it is possible to prevent suicidal influences, then the preemptive measures could be implemented across all demographics—thus decreasing national suicide rates. A multimodal psychodynamic group concept was used to treat 138 patients for an average of 80.4 days. In order, to properly develop a comparison, clinical examiners interviewed each patient before the start to their in-patient program to diagnose each individual, and have therapy goals for them. The questionnaires that were used to measure quality of life targeted the patient's social life health, general health, emotional and physical functioning. The patients were all re-assessed after one year had passed by, to examine any changes in their quality of life. It was revealed that the patients' mental quality of life had improved by more than one standard deviation. Their physical quality of life improved just less than one standard deviation. The authors of this article agreed that 20 sessions of treatment for childhood abuse survivors isn't enough for them to develop a secure attachment to the group. This study explores whether childhood abuse victims can benefit from treatment by being treated for a longer period. Seven group members of ages 23-55 were treated for 52 sessions, over a period of 13 months. All of the members in this group are women, and they had all been sexually abused in their childhood by a family member. They followed a psychodynamic, time-limited closed group therapy, in which they all benefited somewhat. N umerous studies over the past two decades suggest that when individuals are diagnosed with a mental illness, they are placed into a cultural category (e.g., “a mentally ill person”) that damages their material, social, and psychological well-being (e.g., Link 1987; Link et al. 1989; Markowitz 1998; Rosenfield 1997). According to the modified labeling theory of mental illness (Link 1987; Link et al. 1989), the negative consequences of psychiatric labeling arise through two social psychological processes. First, when an individual is diagnosed with a mental illness, cultural ideas associated with the mentally ill (e.g., incompetent, dangerous) become personally relevant and foster negative self-feelings. Second, these personally relevant cultural meanings are transformed into expectations that others will reject the individual, expectations that trigger defensive behaviors aimed at preventing that rejection: con- cealing treatment history, educating others about mental illness, and/or withdrawing from social interaction. Ironically, however, these defensive behaviors are linked with harmful outcomes: a reduced social network, higher rates of unemployment, and feelings of demoralization (Link et al. 1989, 1991).1 Thus, diagnostic labeling is predicted to have a negative effect on self-feelings, and it is expected to trigger defensive reactions that create a type of “secondary deviance,” further damaging patients’ social interactions, occu- pational success, and self-image. We examine the first of these two processes in this study. Specifically, we examine the way that the cultural conceptions of the mentally ill are related to patients’ self-feelings. A lot of those issues may stem from what took place during an adult’s childhood that stem from a variety of reasons. Some adults seek help and some refuse to seek help. The adults who do seek help come to realize that their current issues stem from when they were a child and still developing as a human. Child abuse can come in many forms, physical, mental, and sexual. Adults who have been exposed or experienced this are likely to suffer from some form of mental health issue. It is important to figure out the root of mental health issues in adults so the root can be addressed. Children need to be in a healthy environment with nothing short of love and care. Exposing children to a harsh reality is only breeding them into an adult who suffers from mental health issues. Literature Review The study of psychology helps researchers to understand better what is going on with a person. Researchers studied what happened in a person's life that causes them to make the decisions they do and behave in a certain way. Adults have this stigmatism that they can do whatever they want because they are "grown." Many adults suffer from something that can cause to lead towards suicidal thoughts and tendencies, alcoholism, depression, and drug abusers. A lot of those issues may stem from what took place during an adult’s childhood. There could be some reasons adults tend to display certain mental health traits that have been studied in many different forms by researchers. What we will be reviewed is the abuse, physical or mental, that an adult endured as a child and how it affects them in their adulthood. Blanco, C., Grant, B. F., Hasin, D. S., Lin, K. H., Olfson, M. Sugaya, L. (2012) recognized that child physical abuse had been associated with an increased risk of suicide attempts. The study conducted included Blacks, Hispanics and young adults between the ages of 18-24 in 2001-2002 and 2004-2005. In person, interviews were conducted in Wave 1. In Wave 2 used similar methods as Wave 1 but it excluded the individuals who were not eligible. Wave 2 also interviews went into depth about the questions asked for the participants first 17 years of life. There are many other variables that have been added to the data that relate to childhood physical abuse and mental health distress in adult years. Those other adversatives included the history of child sexual abuse and neglect, parental psychopathology, and perceived parental support, described as emotional neglect. The advantages to this design would be the inclusion of other childhood adversities that could contribute to adult psychiatri.

This study determined effects of the psycho education for aggression of female inmates at Metro Bacolod District Jail, BrgyHandumanan, Bacolod City. Researcher used pretest posttest control group experimental design survey method utilizing the Buss – Perry Aggression Questionnaires BPAQ . The sampling technique employed was the non probability purposive sampling. Eligibility criterion was a BPAQ score of greater than 100. Thirty participants were randomly selected from those eligible. These respondents were then randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group, with 15 participants in each group. Findings revealed that the profile of the female inmates in MBDJ – FD were the following the mean age of the female inmates is 37 more than half of the female inmates were single majority of the female inmates attended high school and also majority of them are from the lower income group with none belonging to the upper income group. The aggression of the female inmates as a whole was moderately aggressive. The results of the study show no significant relationships among age, marital status, educational attainment, economic status, and religion, and aggression of the female inmates. Further, regarding the significant differences between the aggression of the experimental group and the control group, the test results indicated that there is no significant difference in the aggression between the experimental group and the control group before the intervention. However, the aggression after the intervention between the experimental group and the control group demonstrated a significant difference. This suggests that psycho education decreased the aggression of the female inmates which helped them in living harmoniously in the correctional institution. Blais Published online: 9 February 2012 # Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2012 Abstract Assessing risk of harm to self and others is an important component of psychological assessment, although methods for risk assessment vary considerably. The Person- ality Assessment Inventory (PAI) is frequently administered to evaluate general psychological functioning, as well as to provide information about suicide and violence risk. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the construct validity of the PAI Suicide (SPI) and Violence Potential (VPI) indices in a sample of 158 psychiatric outpatients referred for psychological and neuropsychological assessment within a large northeastern academic medical center between 2007 and 2011. Results generally supported the convergent and divergent validity of both SPI and VPI when evaluating groups with and without a history of suicide and violence risk, and effect sizes were moderate to large even after controlling for other covariates. SPI and VPI scores were also found to vary significantly across different psychiatric groups in ways that would be expected. Finally, we explored the relationship between SPI and VPI, and executive functioning impairment—a neuropsychological variable found to be associated with impulsive self and other- harming behaviors. Consistent with prior research, SPI and VPI were found to be significantly elevated in groups dem- onstrating executive dysfunction. The implications of these findings and specifically the utility of using SPI and VPI in the assessment of risk are discussed. Keywords Personality assessment inventory. Risk assessment . This study reports findings from a large, comprehensive screening of trauma and PTSD symptoms among public mental health clients in a statewide community mental health system. In 851 individuals with SMI and probable PTSD, childhood sexual abuse was the most commonly endorsed index trauma, followed closely by the sudden death of a loved one. Participants had typically experienced an average of 7 types of traumatic events in their lifetime. The number of types of traumatic events experienced and Hispanic ethnicity were significantly associated with PTSD symptom severity. Clients reported experiencing PTSD in relation to events that occurred on average 20 years earlier, suggesting the clinical need to address trauma and loss throughout the lifespan, including their prolonged after-effects. Over the past two decades, a growing body of research has shown that individuals with severe mental illness (SMI) are at greatly increased risk for trauma exposure (see Grubaugh, Zinzow, Paul, Egede, & Frueh, 2011, for a review). Baras and Toro (1999) sought to assess the social support of homeless populations by using two commonly used instruments: The Interpersonal Support Evaluation (ISEL) and the Social Network Interview (SNL). In comparing the instruments, the ISEL was found to be useful in indicating a participant’s psychological well-being, while the SNL helped to assess stress-buffering effects. More details regarding the instrument items would have been more helpful for the use of this paper. However, the study’s results substantiate the concept that the presence of social support for the homeless should support physical and psychological health in the way that it cushions the effects of stressful events. Homeless children: coping with material losses. The Journal of Consumer Affairs, 26 (2), 274-287. This one-year study investigated how various possessions and fantasies serve as coping mechanisms for homeless children. Many of the child participants were resilient despite homelessness because of positive role models. In addition, though they had little material possessions, these children often engaged in fantastical play that portrayed one particular “special” toy overcoming evil and other obstacles, then moving on to a better place. The methods used in this study are primarily interviewing and observation, and were part of an ethnography at a suburban homeless shelter; no psychometric instruments were used. Though the researcher’s background primarily involves an interest in consumerism, this study is valuable.

However, reliable predictors of intensive behavioral intervention (IBI) have not been clearly established. IBI is an evidence-based approach to the systematic teaching of academic, social, verbal, and daily living skills to individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Incorporating longitudinal analysis to IBI outcome studies may help to identify outcome predictors of clinical value. Twenty-four children with autism underwent on average two years of IBI and completed language, daily living skills, cognitive, and motor assessments (Early Learning Accomplishment Profile and the Learning Accomplishment Profile-Diagnostic, 3rd edition) every six months. We used multilevel analysis to identify potential longitudinal predictors including gender, age, intervention intensity, intervention duration, total intervention time, and pre-intervention functioning. Results indicated that total intervention time, pre-intervention functioning, and age caused the greatest increase in goodness-of-fit of the longitudinal multilevel models. Longitudinal analysis is a promising analytical strategy to identify reliable predictors of the clinical outcome of IBI. © 2012 Asociación Española de Psicología Conductual. Although genetic influences on bipolar disorder are well established, identification of genes that predispose to the illness has been difficult. Most genetic studies are based on categorical diagnosis. One strategy to overcome this obstacle is the use of quantitative endophenotypes, as has been done for other medical disorders. Methods We studied 619 individuals, 568 participants from 61 extended families and 51 unrelated healthy controls. The sample was 55% female and had a mean age of 43.25 (SD 13.90; range 18–78). Heritability and genetic correlation of the trait scale from the Anxiety State and Trait Inventory (STAI) was computed by using the general linear model (SOLAR package software). Results we observed that anxiety trait meets the following criteria for an endophenotype of bipolar disorder type I (BPI): 1) association with BPI (individuals with BPI showed the highest trait score (F=15.20 [5,24], p=0.009), 2) state-independence confirmed after conducting a test-retest in 321 subjects, 3) co-segregation within families 4) heritability of 0.70 (SE: 0.060), p=2.33×10−14 and 5) genetic correlation with BPI was 0.20, (SE=0.17, p=3.12×10−5). Limitations Confounding factors such as comorbid disorders and pharmacological treatment could affect the clinical relationship between BPI and anxiety trait. Further research is needed to evaluate if anxiety traits are specially related to BPI in comparison with other traits such as anger, attention or response inhibition deficit, pathological impulsivity or low self-directedness. Conclusions Anxiety trait is a heritable phenotype that follows a normal distribution when measured not only in subjects with BPI but also in unrelated healthy controls. It could be used as an endophenotype in BPI for the identification of genomic regions with susceptibility genes for this disorder. Using deep archival observations from the Chandra X-ray Observatory, we present an analysis of linear X-ray-emitting features located within the southern portion of the Galactic center chimney, and oriented orthogonal to the Galactic plane, centered at coordinates l = 0.08◦ , b = −1.42◦ . The surface brightness and hardness ratio patterns are suggestive of a cylindrical morphology which may have been produced by a plasma outflow channel extending from the Galactic center. Our fits of the feature’s spectra favor a complex two-component model consisting of thermal and recombining plasma components, possibly a sign of shock compression or heating of the interstellar medium by outflowing material. Assuming a recombining plasma scenario, we further estimate the cooling timescale of this plasma to be on the order of a few hundred to thousands of years, leading us to speculate that a sequence of accretion events onto the Galactic Black Hole may be a plausible quasi-continuous energy source to sustain the observed morphology

Large language models (LLMs) are in the spotlight. Laypeople are aware of and are using the LLMs such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini on a daily basis. While companies are exploring new business opportunities, researchers have gained access to an unprecedented scientific playground that allows for fast experimentation with limited resources and immediate results. In this talk, using concrete examples from requirements engineering, I am going to put forward several research opportunities that are enabled by the advent of LLMs. I will show how LLMs, as a key example of modern AI, unlock research topics that were deemed as too challenging until recently. Then, I will critically discuss the perils that we face when it comes to planning, conducting, and reporting on credible research results following a rigorous scientific approach. This talk will stress the inherent tension between the exciting affordances offered by this new technology, which include the ability to generate non-factual outputs (fiction), and our role and societal responsibility as information scientists.

3. The study  This study explored different types of intimate partner violence (ipv) perpetrators (and victims) in Mexican clinical and non-clinical samples and the differential mental effects among ipv types through Johnson’s typological framework.

4. Methods  A total of 365 participants (court-mandated men to intervention programs, victims of domestic violence seeking psychological support and male and female high school students) provided information about their IPV perpetration/victimization experiences and data on several mental health indicators.

5. Results  Less-controlling violence prevails in non-clinical samples, and more high-controlling IPV prevails in clinical samples, the latter more frequently reported to be mutually-perpetrated. More adverse mental health effects were associated to more coercive IPV.

6. Discussion  Implications indicate the need to acknowledge the heterogeneity of IPV in practice and research in clinical and non-clinical samples in Mexico.
