Ahaziah Research Paper
There are times when a person becomes ill. They tried many different remedies to assist in their illness. A die hard worshipper of
God would petition the help from the Father first then seek medical assistance. If the Bible speaks of the many healings that God
did before. I would assume that He is capable of doing it again and again. Every situation that we encounter is a test of our faith in
the powers of God. Sometimes things may come in a sudden manner and shake the core of our being. But with God as an enter
Spirit within us He quickly brings the mine in check with His words and His miracles.
Therefore, we have here Ahaziah, the wicked king of Israel, under God's rebukes both by his providence and by his prophet, by his
rod and by his word. He is confused by his own doing based on his ancestors. How can we expect to prosper by doing evil in the
sight of the Lord? During this time, the stories of the past were told continuously about how God protects, heals and provide for
His chosen one. When Ahaziah rebelled against God, and revolted from his allegiance to God. Ahaziah was punishment severe.
When men break their covenants with God, and neglect their duty, we must reflect upon our breach of covenant and try to restore
ourselves. Our sins weaken and deprive us of the glory of God. From all of the other incidents in the history of ... Show more

In that incident, he called the fire to burn his sacrifice (1 Kings 18:36–38). This was the case of Baal's prophets against just one
man of God. I can only imagine how the Baal Prophets were calling on their god, and there was no answer. It fascinates me how
the Baal prophets cut themselves and paraded around chanting and shouting, and Elijah is just sitting their cool, calm, and
collective waiting on his chance to summon the Almighty God on high. If the children of God always keep the faith the size of a
mustard seed, then there will be no problems or worries on our

Kings David and Solomon: From 10th Century B.C.E. to present day Controversy
Introduction
Perhaps the most famous Old Testament Kings, as well as two of the most famous Hebrew heroes of all time were, King Solomon
and his father King David. Their stories have been told time and time again throughout the ages: passed down orally for centuries,
then later reproduced and shared all over the globe as intricate portions of many historical religious texts including the Torah, the
Koran and the Holy Bible. Biblical sources include: I Chronicles, I Kings, Ecclesiastes, as well as the accounts of many prophets.
Furthermore, King David and King Solomon have been attributed to writing several Old Testament books including: the Song of

1000 B.C.E. (Castel, 1985, pp.87–89; Grant, 1984, pp.75–78; Learsi, 1949, pp. 49–51; Rogerson, 1999, pp.79–80; 2 Samuel, c.a.
1100–1010 B.C.E., pp. 505–555). In a brilliant political move David took over the Jebusite city of Jerusalem and made it the
capitol of the new United Kingdom of Israel "thenceforward to be honored as the City of David" (2 Samuel, 1997, pp. 505–555;
Eban, 1999, p. 47). Moving the capitol to Jerusalem was an ingenious move on David's part since it placed him geographically
between the northern tribes of Israel and the former Judah. This also unified the Hebrew nation politically since Jerusalem was a
fresh start, not being formerly of Israel or Judah. In order to unify the nation religiously David (with the help of King Hiram of
Tyre) built a palace on Mount Zion where he housed the Ark of the Covenant (Castel, 1985, p. 90; Eban, 1999, p. 49; Halkin, 2006,
p. 43; Learsi, 1949, p. 55; Rogerson, 1999, pp. 81–82). He then set out to expand his kingdom taking over and taxing all of Canaan
(Rogerson, 1999, p. 82). King David ruled Israel for the next 33 years (Castel, 1985, p. 89; Harkin, 2006, p. 41). Unfortunately the
house of David, like many great monarchs (especially those who practiced polygamy) faced great diplomatic personal odds.
Among them was internal dissent including a great deal of "palace intrigue" that was coupled with David's personal struggles

Jezebel Research Paper
"JEZEBEL"
When King Solomon's heart was turned away from the living God to idol, and the Lord vowed to take away the kingdom of Israel
away from him only living the tribe of Judah to Solomon's offspring because of his father David (1 Kings 11:4–13). When
Solomon died, the united kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms under king Rehoboam's reign, Solomon's son. The
tribe of Judah and Benjamin became the kingdom of Judah, while the other ten tribes of Israel, became the northern kingdom, and
was governed by Jeroboam the son of Nebat who reigned over the ten tribes known as the house of Israel (1 kings 12:1–25).
When Rehoboam the son of Solomon died, his son Asa became the king of Judah, while Omri became the king over the rest of the

Jezebel was the one who executed the prophets of God, and she was also the one who executed Naboth and took over his land, and
gave it to her husband Ahab (1 Kings 18:13; 21:1–19). Ahab was very close to his Canaanite in–laws through which he was fully
introduced into idolatry. The Lord said that he did abominable things in going after idols, as had the Amorites, whom the Lord cast
out before the Israelites. Here the bible told us the reason God cast out the Canaanites and gave their land to the Israelites, was
because of idol worship. However, Ahab repented, but the Lord said that He will bring evil against his family after his death, and
not before him (1 kings 21:25–29; Revelation 2:20–23). When Ahab and Jezebel were married, they had two sons and one
daughter together who were mixed black Hamitic Canaanite and Hebrew Semitic bloodline, whose names were Ahaziah, Jehoram–
Joram, and Athaliah (1 Kings 22:40, 51–52; 2 Kings 1:17; 3:1; 8:18). In this Biblical story, we came to known that Jezebel who
was a full blood Canaanite became a queen who ruled all the children of Israel, however, their evil came to an end when the Lord
put an end to their lives (1 Kings 21:23; 22: 34–35; 2 kings 9:8,

What Does It Mean For A Monument As A Leader?
What does it mean to write on a monument as a leader? One answer to this question can be pursued by studying inscriptions on
steles from the ancient Near East and their relationships with their audiences. These monuments have all been constructed to
communicate messages through both their content and form, particularly in their imagery. Some would describe these steles as
'propaganda,' which has many negative connotations. However, monumental inscriptions are much more complex than that.
Propaganda is a control mechanism leaders use to spread ideologies and benefit themselves. Though some monumental
inscriptions have this intention, all were not created to control their audiences. Their meanings vary depending on their historical ...

The Tel Dan inscription was found at Tel Dan, Israel, in 1993–4 near the site's fortifications and dates approximately to the ninth or
eighth centuries BCE (Biran and Naveh 1995, 1). It is the oldest royal inscription written in an alphabetic script found in modern
Israel (Na 'aman 2000, 93) and details the exploits of Hazael, ruler of Aram, and is famous for naming King Ahaziah of Judah as a
descendent of David. The Kilamuwa Stele was found during German excavations of the site of ancient Sam'al in Northern Syria
(Modern Turkey) in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The stele was commissioned by King Kilamuwa, ruler of that
city–state, and dates approximately to the ninth century BCE (Brown 2006, 339). The text explains how Kilamuwa succeeded
where his ancestors failed and the good he did for his people. The Mesha Stele was found at Dhiban, Jordan in 1868 and dates to
the ninth century BCE ("Mesha Stele." 2014). It details the deeds of the Moabite king Mesha, particularly his fighting with Israel
and his building projects. These steles originated from different contexts in different sites, and each dates to about the same period
and has its own message and audience. The Tel Dan Stele (Figure 1) is fragmentary, consisting of 3 separate fragments with 13
lines of readable, Aramaic text. The author is agreed by most scholars to be King Hazael of Damascus (Biran and Naveh 1995, 17)

Queen Athaliah Short Story
"Treason, treason!" The cry rang across the crowded temple courtyard where the joyous crowning if King Joash was taking place .
A little girl standing near a pillar gasped, tugging at her mother's arm "Mama, it's Queen Athaliah! What is she going to do?"
"Hush child," her mother urged, "Just watch. See! The priest has sent the guards to take care of her." As the little girl held tighter to
the warm security of her mother's hand, together they watched the soldiers lead the screaming, struggling queen away. "Why is she
so mean, momma?" wondered the young girl, "Why isn't she happy about Joash becoming king, like we are?" Jehosheba sighed,
"She has only ever loved herself. Every thing Queen Athaliah does is done to benefit her self." She began to think about the years
she herself had lived in the palace, for what her small daughter did not know was that queen she so feared was her very own
grandmother. Jehosheba knew this woman all too well.
Athaliah was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, the previous king of Israel. After the death of her father, her own husband Jehoram
became king. Now that filled her heart with delight! She was a queen! "Jehoram!" she said one day in anger, "I want to lead a
nation, I do not want to lead you!" Her husband, she thought, was insufferable weak–kneed fool. It was with very little sadness that
she watched him waste away of a slow, painful disease.
After he died, the people of Jerusalem chose the youngest of the sons given to that unhappy union to

Judah Chapter Eight Summary
Tullock begins chapter eight by discussing Rehoboam's reign and the other kings of Judah. Considered to be unsuccessful,
Rehoboam is known for dealing with the revolt of Israel and facing issues with the Shishak of Egypt. Abijam and Asa of Judah
have been depicted as father and son and also brother by interpretations found in 1 Kings 15. 2 Chronicles clears some confusion
by altering Abijam's name to Abijah, and Abijah is known for military skill and capturing Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron. Asa is
known for religious reform and military successes such as capturing the cities of Dan and Hazor. Jehoshaphat's reign is considered
positive and peaceful due to the alliance formed between Jehoshaphat and Ahab. This alliance was confirmed when Jehoshaphat's
son Jehoram and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jehoram is known for not dealing with the Jehu uprising because of his death, but his son Ahaziah dealt with the uprising.
Ahaziah's son Joram were victims of the Jehu uprising. Athaliah was the only woman to rule Judah and Israel. Known for killing
others, she was unable to kill her future predecessor Joash who hid in the Temple for six years by his Aunt. Joash's reign was long
and peaceful besides the attacks by Hazael. Amaziah, the son of Joash, encountered warfare between Israel and Judah. Amaziah
was captured by Jehoash's army. Uzziah brought prosperity to Judah by conquering the Philistine, pushing back the Ammonites,
fortified Jerusalem, promoted agriculture, and modernized the army. The remaining sections of chapter eight discuss Judah after
the destruction of Israel. Tullock begins by mentioning Hezekiah and stories between Isaiah and the kings of Judah. Hezekiah is
considered to be a blessing for Judah because Hezekiah was active in religious reform in Judah. Isaiah is mentioned in Hezekiah's
story in 1 Kings 18–20. Isaiah was

Is Polygamy A Bad Social Sentiment?
The present day society emphatically trust that, monogamy is the main acknowledged type of marriage and then again, just a single
person rehearsing polygamy is going against the law of God. Teachers in Christianity call it a bad social sentiment in view of their
extraordinary research both in the book of scriptures and related materials. As indicated by them, polygamy is essentially inspired
by a few variables, for example, financial power, economic wellbeing or even political gain. At different circumstances, it is a
method for subduing over the top sexual desire or a statement of earnest love.
This paper will concentrate on examination of how polygamy has been viewed to be sanctioned or not sanctioned in the Bible

a man divorces one mate then weds another).
An essential affirmation to respected polygamy is that it has fundamentally dependably been something that particular rich and
more blissful men could abuse, since keeping up more than one life accomplice and set of kids in discrete families is fiscally costly
(Schlehlein, 2013).
The Old Testament is clear about its perspective of different mates among its human rulers. What a couple of individuals perceive,
regardless, is no area exists that denies polygamy among Israel 's tribes. Despite the way that God himself ruled Israel when they
left Egypt, he knew there would likely be a period when they would require a human rule over them.
In spite of the way that He admonished any future Israelite ruler that they ought not to have many life accomplices, God did not
charge that they should have one and just a lone (Schlehlein, 2013).
God knew rulers who searched after various mates would be enticed to wed ladies from outside the Twelve Tribes of Israel
(doubters) who could lead them far from him. This is viably what happened to King Solomon who, however sharp, wedded remote
ladies who as time goes on, committed many sins because of it( 1Kings 11).
When Jesus ' organization and the early church, the general routine of polygamy had, figuratively speaking, halted to exist in the

The Last Story Of Jezebel
Malicious, destructive, harlot, corrupt, murderer–all words used to describe Jezebel, Queen of the Israelites. The story of Jezebel,
although only told in a few chapters and verses, generated a reputation for her as one of the most vile and hated women in the
Bible. It all began with King Ahab marrying her, which instigated the whole kingdom to worship Baal rather than YHWH. Next,
Jezebel kills all the prophets of the Lord, and, in retaliation, Elijah kills 850 of the pagan priests. As soon as Jezebel gets word of
this, she pledges to put Elijah to death. Her name is next mentioned in the story of Naboth and his vineyard. Ahab wishes to own
Naboth's vineyard, and Naboth refuses to sell it to his king. Therefore, Jezebel takes action and writes letters in Ahab's name telling
the nobles and elders Naboth was to be stoned to death for cursing God. When they reported back that the job was done, Ahab
seized the vineyard he desired. In the last story of Jezebel, Jehu is anointed king of Israel by Elijah and kills Jehoram, Jezebel's
only living son. Jehu then sets out for Jezebel to put her to death. She puts on her finest clothing and does her hair and makeup
beautifully, as she expected his arrival. Her life and legacy end in a gruesome death–being trampled by horses. Several
commentators have opinions as to whether or not Jezebel was as heinous as so many people presume. Collectively, most of the
commentators saw Jezebel as the driving force of evil in Kings. In Matthew Henry's commentary, he refers to the vineyard story
and states, "Never were more wicked orders given by any prince, than those Jezebel sent to the rulers of Jezreel." Additionally, he
contributes to Jezebel's reputation as a she–devil by directing others to us her story as an example of the power that Satan can have
in the lives of disobedient people. Henry also views Ahab as a victim of Jezebel's said "seduction and wickedness" because Ahab
had repented in a way that "only might be seen of men." He concludes his commentary by discussing her reprehensible opposition
to God and how she should be used as an illustration of evil to prevent others from following in her immoral path.
Surprisingly, most of the female perspectives on Jezebel's story

Kingdom Of Israel Essay
Following the United Monarchy separating into two different nations the Kingdom of Israel, sometimes referred to as Samaria,
existed with nineteen kings for two–hundred and seven years from 928 to 721BC. Consisting of ten of the twelve tribes – Reuben,
Simeon, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Ash, Ephraim and Manasseh. The Kingdom of Israel became weakened after the
breakup of the United Monarchy which the Egyptians take advantage of in 925BC when they invaded and made the Kingdom of
Israel a vassal nation of Egypt followed by the Kingdom of Ammon which gains its independence from the Kingdom of Israel.
Jeroboam I the first king of the Kingdom of Israel from 928 to 907BC, created worship centers in the cities of Bethel and Dan and

Story Of Elijah's God
Elijah's God was Elisha's God! God utilized Elisha as His prophet for about fifty years.
Elisha died but his influence remained in a number of ways. God's power was shown when a dead man's body was tossed into the
grave of Elisha and came in contact with Elisha's bones. The dead man was revived and jumped to his feet. The miracle showed
Israel once more that if they would have not rejected the words Elisha spoke on behalf of God, God would have been extremely
gracious and merciful to His people.
Elijah was a very hated man in the Ahab family. He had great courage and boldness to always be willing to be the messenger of
horrendous news to Ahab's family. For many years, Ahab and Jezebel hunted for Elijah to destroy him. That hatred ... Show more

Athaliah was Queen of Judah from 842–836 BC. She was the daughter of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel of the northern kingdom
of Israel. She also was the wife of King Jehoram of Judah, and the mother of King Ahaziah.
Following Ahaziah's death at the hands of Jehu, Athaliah seized power and killed all members of the royal family who were
possible rivals for the throne, except for Joash, the infant son of Ahaziah, who had been rescued by his Aunt Jehosheba.
When Joash was seven years old, Jehoiada the priest conspired to have the young boy crowned in the Temple as king. When Queen

Solomon 's Strengths And Weaknesses
Solomon 's strengths and weaknesses as a king are listed below: One of King Solomon strengths were being responsible for
building the first temple located in Jerusalem. It took six years or more to complete this mission, however; he was committed to
God and illustrated a level of wisdom that God bestowed upon him due to his obedience. My beliefs of this type of commitment
are that God granted him specific skills to allow him to be knowledgeable to build and oversee this mission. King Solomon desired
for the people of the Israel descendants to pray or repent for God to accept their apology for their shortcoming or sins and those
they would try to serve him in a more honest manner. Their belief of these modifications within their lifestyle would have
permitted them to hear from God, and only he could forgive their sins. For example, he could wipe the slate clean removing the
people of Israel's sins away. His purpose was to strive to help the upcoming creation of the people within this region so that they
could have a more abundance lifestyle. In analyzing this concept, God was displaying the quality of life and his ability to have the
power to bless people with a productive lifestyle as long as they followed his instruction and was obedient. Although Solomon
loved God, he did not follow the Ten Commandments because he lusted after a woman. Therefore, his commitments unto God
were not without flaws but a bit tarnished due to his vulnerability. He would lust after a married

The Book of Obadiah
This brief book of the Hebrew Bible is very significant in that it is one of only two of the Minor Prophetic books that are addressed
entirely to a nation other than Israel and Judah. The Book of Obadiah deals with the ancient feud between Israel and the nation of
Edom, between the descendants of Jacob and those of his brother Esau. Through the prophet Obadiah, the Lord expressed His
indignation at the nation of Edom. When they should have been helping their relatives, they were gloating over the Israelites'
problems and raiding their homes. "The Book of Obadiah brings an important message about oppressors and the oppressed,
betrayers and those who have been betrayed. Arising out of a time of national crisis, it has a word for innocent bystanders and also
survivors." A day was coming, the day of the Lord, when all these wrongs would be righted. The Lord would bring justice to the
world.
Rabbi Halpren is of the belief that this small book is worthy of theological scholarship and hermeneutical exegesis. He says;
"Obadiah is more fortunate that most prophetic books of the Bible despite its miniscule size. It is one of the few biblical books
read in the synagogue in its entirety and its last verse is recited daily in the Jewish liturgy. It is generally neglected as an object of
study probably because of its unimpressive dimensions. Yet, it is an archetypical example of prophetic style and content." The size
of the book does not diminish its importance and worth

Ahaziah Research Paper

  • 1. Ahaziah Research Paper There are times when a person becomes ill. They tried many different remedies to assist in their illness. A die hard worshipper of God would petition the help from the Father first then seek medical assistance. If the Bible speaks of the many healings that God did before. I would assume that He is capable of doing it again and again. Every situation that we encounter is a test of our faith in the powers of God. Sometimes things may come in a sudden manner and shake the core of our being. But with God as an enter Spirit within us He quickly brings the mine in check with His words and His miracles. Therefore, we have here Ahaziah, the wicked king of Israel, under God's rebukes both by his providence and by his prophet, by his rod and by his word. He is confused by his own doing based on his ancestors. How can we expect to prosper by doing evil in the sight of the Lord? During this time, the stories of the past were told continuously about how God protects, heals and provide for His chosen one. When Ahaziah rebelled against God, and revolted from his allegiance to God. Ahaziah was punishment severe. When men break their covenants with God, and neglect their duty, we must reflect upon our breach of covenant and try to restore ourselves. Our sins weaken and deprive us of the glory of God. From all of the other incidents in the history of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In that incident, he called the fire to burn his sacrifice (1 Kings 18:36–38). This was the case of Baal's prophets against just one man of God. I can only imagine how the Baal Prophets were calling on their god, and there was no answer. It fascinates me how the Baal prophets cut themselves and paraded around chanting and shouting, and Elijah is just sitting their cool, calm, and collective waiting on his chance to summon the Almighty God on high. If the children of God always keep the faith the size of a mustard seed, then there will be no problems or worries on our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kings David and Solomon: From 10th Century B.C.E. to present day Controversy Introduction Perhaps the most famous Old Testament Kings, as well as two of the most famous Hebrew heroes of all time were, King Solomon and his father King David. Their stories have been told time and time again throughout the ages: passed down orally for centuries, then later reproduced and shared all over the globe as intricate portions of many historical religious texts including the Torah, the Koran and the Holy Bible. Biblical sources include: I Chronicles, I Kings, Ecclesiastes, as well as the accounts of many prophets. Furthermore, King David and King Solomon have been attributed to writing several Old Testament books including: the Song of Solomon, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1000 B.C.E. In a brilliant political move David took over the Jebusite city of Jerusalem and made it the capitol of the new United Kingdom of Israel "thenceforward to be honored as the City of David" (2 Samuel, 1997, pp. 505–555; Eban, 1999, p. 47). Moving the capitol to Jerusalem was an ingenious move on David's part since it placed him geographically between the northern tribes of Israel and the former Judah. This also unified the Hebrew nation politically since Jerusalem was a fresh start, not being formerly of Israel or Judah. In order to unify the nation religiously David (with the help of King Hiram of Tyre) built a palace on Mount Zion where he housed the Ark of the Covenant (Castel, 1985, p. 90; Eban, 1999, p. 49; Halkin, 2006, p. 43; Learsi, 1949, p. 55; Rogerson, 1999, pp. 81–82). He then set out to expand his kingdom taking over and taxing all of Canaan (Rogerson, 1999, p. 82). King David ruled Israel for the next 33 years (Castel, 1985, p. 89; Harkin, 2006, p. 41). Unfortunately the house of David, like many great monarchs (especially those who practiced polygamy) faced great diplomatic personal odds. Among them was internal dissent including a great deal of "palace intrigue" that was coupled with David's personal struggles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jezebel Research Paper "JEZEBEL" When King Solomon's heart was turned away from the living God to idol, and the Lord vowed to take away the kingdom of Israel away from him only living the tribe of Judah to Solomon's offspring because of his father David (1 Kings 11:4–13). When Solomon died, the united kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms under king Rehoboam's reign, Solomon's son. The tribe of Judah and Benjamin became the kingdom of Judah, while the other ten tribes of Israel, became the northern kingdom, and was governed by Jeroboam the son of Nebat who reigned over the ten tribes known as the house of Israel (1 kings 12:1–25). Jezebel was the one who executed the prophets of God, and she was also the one who executed Naboth and took over his land, and gave it to her husband Ahab (1 Kings 18:13; 21:1–19). Ahab was very close to his Canaanite in–laws through which he was fully introduced into idolatry. The Lord said that he did abominable things in going after idols, as had the Amorites, whom the Lord cast out before the Israelites. Here the bible told us the reason God cast out the Canaanites and gave their land to the Israelites, was because of idol worship. However, Ahab repented, but the Lord said that He will bring evil against his family after his death, and not before him (1 kings 21:25–29; Revelation 2:20–23). When Ahab and Jezebel were married, they had two sons and one daughter together who were mixed black Hamitic Canaanite and Hebrew Semitic bloodline, whose names were Ahaziah, Jehoram– Joram, and Athaliah (1 Kings 22:40, 51–52; 2 Kings 1:17; 3:1; 8:18). In this Biblical story, we came to known that Jezebel who was a full blood Canaanite became a queen who ruled all the children of Israel, however, their evil came to an end when the Lord put an end to their lives (1 Kings 21:23; 22: 34–35; 2 kings 9:8, ... • 9. What Does It Mean For A Monument As A Leader? What does it mean to write on a monument as a leader? One answer to this question can be pursued by studying inscriptions on steles from the ancient Near East and their relationships with their audiences. These monuments have all been constructed to communicate messages through both their content and form, particularly in their imagery. Some would describe these steles as 'propaganda,' which has many negative connotations. However, monumental inscriptions are much more complex than that. Propaganda is a control mechanism leaders use to spread ideologies and benefit themselves. Though some monumental inscriptions have this intention, all were not created to control their audiences. Their meanings vary depending on their historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Tel Dan inscription was found at Tel Dan, Israel, in 1993–4 near the site's fortifications and dates approximately to the ninth or eighth centuries BCE (Biran and Naveh 1995, 1). It is the oldest royal inscription written in an alphabetic script found in modern Israel (Na 'aman 2000, 93) and details the exploits of Hazael, ruler of Aram, and is famous for naming King Ahaziah of Judah as a descendent of David. The Kilamuwa Stele was found during German excavations of the site of ancient Sam'al in Northern Syria (Modern Turkey) in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The stele was commissioned by King Kilamuwa, ruler of that city–state, and dates approximately to the ninth century BCE (Brown 2006, 339). The text explains how Kilamuwa succeeded where his ancestors failed and the good he did for his people. The Mesha Stele was found at Dhiban, Jordan in 1868 and dates to the ninth century BCE ("Mesha Stele." 2014). It details the deeds of the Moabite king Mesha, particularly his fighting with Israel and his building projects. These steles originated from different contexts in different sites, and each dates to about the same period and has its own message and audience. The Tel Dan Stele (Figure 1) is fragmentary, consisting of 3 separate fragments with 13 lines of readable, Aramaic text. • 11. Queen Athaliah Short Story "Treason, treason!" The cry rang across the crowded temple courtyard where the joyous crowning if King Joash was taking place . A little girl standing near a pillar gasped, tugging at her mother's arm "Mama, it's Queen Athaliah! What is she going to do?" "Hush child," her mother urged, "Just watch. See! The priest has sent the guards to take care of her." As the little girl held tighter to the warm security of her mother's hand, together they watched the soldiers lead the screaming, struggling queen away. "Why is she so mean, momma?" wondered the young girl, "Why isn't she happy about Joash becoming king, like we are?" Jehosheba sighed, "She has only ever loved herself. Every thing Queen Athaliah does is done to benefit her self." She began to think about the years she herself had lived in the palace, for what her small daughter did not know was that queen she so feared was her very own grandmother. Jehosheba knew this woman all too well. Athaliah was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, the previous king of Israel. After the death of her father, her own husband Jehoram became king. Now that filled her heart with delight! She was a queen! "Jehoram!" she said one day in anger, "I want to lead a nation, I do not want to lead you!" Her husband, she thought, was insufferable weak–kneed fool. It was with very little sadness that she watched him waste away of a slow, painful disease. • 13. Judah Chapter Eight Summary Tullock begins chapter eight by discussing Rehoboam's reign and the other kings of Judah. Considered to be unsuccessful, Rehoboam is known for dealing with the revolt of Israel and facing issues with the Shishak of Egypt. Abijam and Asa of Judah have been depicted as father and son and also brother by interpretations found in 1 Kings 15. 2 Chronicles clears some confusion by altering Abijam's name to Abijah, and Abijah is known for military skill and capturing Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron. Asa is known for religious reform and military successes such as capturing the cities of Dan and Hazor. Jehoshaphat's reign is considered positive and peaceful due to the alliance formed between Jehoshaphat and Ahab. This alliance was confirmed when Jehoshaphat's son Jehoram and ... Amaziah, the son of Joash, encountered warfare between Israel and Judah. Amaziah was captured by Jehoash's army. Uzziah brought prosperity to Judah by conquering the Philistine, pushing back the Ammonites, fortified Jerusalem, promoted agriculture, and modernized the army. The remaining sections of chapter eight discuss Judah after the destruction of Israel. Tullock begins by mentioning Hezekiah and stories between Isaiah and the kings of Judah. The present day society emphatically trust that, monogamy is the main acknowledged type of marriage and then again, just a single person rehearsing polygamy is going against the law of God. Teachers in Christianity call it a bad social sentiment in view of their extraordinary research both in the book of scriptures and related materials. An essential affirmation to respected polygamy is that it has fundamentally dependably been something that particular rich and more blissful men could abuse, since keeping up more than one life accomplice and set of kids in discrete families is fiscally costly (Schlehlein, 2013). The Old Testament is clear about its perspective of different mates among its human rulers. What a couple of individuals perceive, regardless, is no area exists that denies polygamy among Israel 's tribes. Despite the way that God himself ruled Israel when they left Egypt, he knew there would likely be a period when they would require a human rule over them. In spite of the way that He admonished any future Israelite ruler that they ought not to have many life accomplices, God did not charge that they should have one and just a lone (Schlehlein, 2013). God knew rulers who searched after various mates would be enticed to wed ladies from outside the Twelve Tribes of Israel (doubters) who could lead them far from him. This is viably what happened to King Solomon who, however sharp, wedded remote ladies who as time goes on, committed many sins because of it( 1Kings 11). • 17. The Last Story Of Jezebel Malicious, destructive, harlot, corrupt, murderer–all words used to describe Jezebel, Queen of the Israelites. The story of Jezebel, although only told in a few chapters and verses, generated a reputation for her as one of the most vile and hated women in the Bible. It all began with King Ahab marrying her, which instigated the whole kingdom to worship Baal rather than YHWH. Next, Jezebel kills all the prophets of the Lord, and, in retaliation, Elijah kills 850 of the pagan priests. As soon as Jezebel gets word of this, she pledges to put Elijah to death. Her name is next mentioned in the story of Naboth and his vineyard. Ahab wishes to own Naboth's vineyard, and Naboth refuses to sell it to his king. Therefore, Jezebel takes action and writes letters in Ahab's name telling the nobles and elders Naboth was to be stoned to death for cursing God. When they reported back that the job was done, Ahab seized the vineyard he desired. In the last story of Jezebel, Jehu is anointed king of Israel by Elijah and kills Jehoram, Jezebel's only living son. Jehu then sets out for Jezebel to put her to death. She puts on her finest clothing and does her hair and makeup beautifully, as she expected his arrival. Her life and legacy end in a gruesome death–being trampled by horses. Several commentators have opinions as to whether or not Jezebel was as heinous as so many people presume. Collectively, most of the commentators saw Jezebel as the driving force of evil in Kings. In Matthew Henry's commentary, he refers to the vineyard story and states, "Never were more wicked orders given by any prince, than those Jezebel sent to the rulers of Jezreel." Additionally, he contributes to Jezebel's reputation as a she–devil by directing others to us her story as an example of the power that Satan can have in the lives of disobedient people. Henry also views Ahab as a victim of Jezebel's said "seduction and wickedness" because Ahab had repented in a way that "only might be seen of men." He concludes his commentary by discussing her reprehensible opposition to God and how she should be used as an illustration of evil to prevent others from following in her immoral path. • 25. Solomon 's Strengths And Weaknesses Solomon 's strengths and weaknesses as a king are listed below: One of King Solomon strengths were being responsible for building the first temple located in Jerusalem. It took six years or more to complete this mission, however; he was committed to God and illustrated a level of wisdom that God bestowed upon him due to his obedience. My beliefs of this type of commitment are that God granted him specific skills to allow him to be knowledgeable to build and oversee this mission. King Solomon desired for the people of the Israel descendants to pray or repent for God to accept their apology for their shortcoming or sins and those they would try to serve him in a more honest manner. Their belief of these modifications within their lifestyle would have permitted them to hear from God, and only he could forgive their sins. For example, he could wipe the slate clean removing the people of Israel's sins away. His purpose was to strive to help the upcoming creation of the people within this region so that they could have a more abundance lifestyle. In analyzing this concept, God was displaying the quality of life and his ability to have the power to bless people with a productive lifestyle as long as they followed his instruction and was obedient.
