Locations
Our film trailer will begin with an establishing shot outside of Chloe’s house, with the main
characters walking inside. Within this period of time we are introduced to the significant prop of the
teddy. This location allows us to use natural lighting during the daytime, creating a realistic setting
for characters and our storyline.
The storyline will then progress to inside the house, here the characters find clues of the evil spirit
that is living amongst them. This will serve as the main location, especially the bedroom and living
room, in which many key events will occur throughout our trailer. We feel that this location is most
conventional for a horror film and appeals to the target audience and links to other popular horror
films, such as The Conjuring.
Props
The props that we have decided to use in our trailer are highly associated with other horror films.
We found this out from our research into our target audience, and other popular horror films. This
allowed us to see not only what props are conventional for this genre, but also those that are
conventional for the characters included in our storyline, such as the teddy with the child character.
We are going to use; a note, a teddy, a vase and other conventional household items. We chose
these specific props as they regularly appear in horror films that are aimed at the same target
audience. The note was used as a significant prop as it’s highly associated within our films title and is
the main theme that runs throughout the trailer. These props will help to add to the dark and cryptic
tone that will be used throughout.
Costume
All of our characters will be wearing normal everyday clothing. The parents will be wearing jeans and
t-shirts whereas the little girl in the story will stereotypically be wearing a dress. However, as our
trailer progresses, the characters clothing will begin to become ripped and dirty contributing to the
horror effect within the trailer. This style of costume is conventional as it creates realism within the
family theme in the storyline. This makes the trailer more mysterious as the audience will be
unaware at the beginning who the victim will be. This style of costume will connote danger, when it
is ripped, as the film goes on, which is stereotypical for a horror.
The use of blood and dirt will show that the main character is in danger, showing those around them
are vulnerable within the trailer. This will contribute to the build-up of tension as the trailer goes on.
Personnel/Casting
Bethany Munden – character name, Beth – a 10 year old girl, also the main character within our
trailer. She is first to discover clues which contributes to the overall plot and causes her to become
possessed.
We have chosen Beth to play this character as her age is conventional for a main character, which
was found from the audience research. Her typical innocent nature is portrayed alternatively.
2. Lewis Jupp – character name, Freddie – a 17 year old boy, who is going to be portrayed older, as the
father of the family. We chose Lewis for this role of the father as we feel he looks older than his age,
so would be well suited to this role. Also our family is going to be of a younger gene ration to make it
more realistic within today’s society. Due to the age of the main character, this would help to make
Lewis look older within the trailer.
Amy-Jane Wilson – character name, Charlotte – a 17 year old girl, who is going to be portrayed
older, as the mother of the family. We have chosen to use Amy for this role of the mother as we feel
she looks older than her age so is well suited to the role of the mother in this story. Also our family is
going to be of a younger generation to make it reali stic within today’s society, so this would
contribute to that theme. Due to the age of the main character, this would help to make Amy look
older within the trailer.
