2. The front cover of the
CD features artwork
and not a photograph
of the artists
The entire cover is in
black and white except
a red heart hanging
from a tree. The
contrast makes this part
stand out the most.
The heart is also in the
centre of the CD, again
making it stand out the
most.
The cover itself is very
simplistic as there is simply
the band name, name of
album and a ‘parental
advisory’ logo. There is no
additional text or logos.
The font used looks more
‘hand written’ which
compliments the sketchy
style and it looks as if it is
part of the artwork itself.
The name of the band is
significantly bigger than
the album name. This will
draw in people more if
they are familiar with the
bands name, creating
immediate interest.
3. The inside of the CD
also consists of small
sections of sketchy
artwork.
The style of the section
looks like layered pieces
of overlapping paper as
if from a scrap book,
which also compliments
the sketches.
One of the sketches is
the same heart we see
on the front cover of the
album
There is a lot of text on the
inside of the CD, which
credits all the people and
companies who took some
role in the making of the CD,
not just the band members
and record label.
Instead of just black and
white, there is also an
aged/tanned paper colour.
However there is still a small
section red text which, like
the front cover, stands out
the most as it is the
brightest colour used.
4. Like the front cover,
There is a sketch of a
tree on the actual CD
disk, however this one
is more of a silhouette.
It also includes multiple
hearts that we see
throughout the design
of the CD.
This time the red in the
art is the band name, in
the same font as on the
front cover.
The CD also includes the list
of songs, in a very small
font, which you would
normally just see on the
back. This could be useful
for those who keep all their
CD disks in one place rather
than keep them in the
original case
Behind the CD, the same red heart from the front cover is the only piece of artwork, on
top of the same tanned paper colour. Only the inside of the CD has more than just a
black/white/red colour scheme. But overall, this design is very simplistic.
5. The back of the CD
follows the colour
scheme and the only
red section is a small
splat of paint, so small
that this time it doesn’t
stand out the most on
this section.
What stands out the
most is the list of songs
as it is in the very
centre of the back.
The sketch on this side
is the roots of a tree,
and beneath it is all the
text, including a bar
code.
The text again credits
some of those involved
in the making of the CD,
and also has added
some websites in very
small text and the
middle bottom.
Everything is bordered
with scribbled/sketchy
lines that compliment
the drawing.
Again, the font used is
more of a hand
drawn/sketchy font.
