2012's The Hunger Games broke new ground for
a franchise-starter with its massive $152.5
million debut--the highest figure any movie has
ever tallied outside of the summer season.
Social media was in a frenzy over the first
instalment months in advance. With the release
of teaser trailers of The result was an
extraordinary level of synergy for a brand
growing by the day. Much resembling the
Twilight Saga phenomenon . The advantages of
having a big budget for a film is that you get a
bigger amount of tie-ins increasing a films
popularity and profit.
7. There was much less tie-ins for this film as it
was a British independent and due to it’s
smaller budget however you could say that
the film is synergy in itself because it was an
adaptation of the play. However there was a
DVD and a website that you could see with
exclusive trailers and clips increasing the
film’s popularity and anticipation for the film.
This is the disadvantage of having a lower
budgeted film, you do not get as much
synergy and convergence meaning there
isn’t as much exposure to your film.
