Abbie is stuck in a dead-end job and lacks the courage to pursue her passion for performing. She finds a flyer for local theatre auditions and decides to audition, drawing on trophies from her past performances for inspiration. At the audition, she sings a song through a montage. A few days later, she receives a letter saying she got the part. She quits her job and drives off, inspired to follow her dreams. The film aims to inspire others who feel unable to pursue their passions by showing that with courage, dreams can be achieved. It could have a prequel about Abbie's early life or a sequel following her journey performing on stage.

Target Audience:Whoare they and how will you reach them?
- The target audience forthisfilmare people whofeel theycannotpursue their
dream/passion.
- Its purpose istohopefullyinspirepeople togooutand change that.
3. - Audience isaimedtowardspeopleages12+ because thisage may be age appropriate to
those whomightknowwhattheywant to doas a career,or somethingtheywantto
achieve.
- We onlyreallysee twofemalecharacters, somalesmayfeel lessinclinestowatchitor be
able to relate toit.
- It isn’tsupposedtobe a relatable story,asitis quite anunlikelystory,howeverwe wantto
the audience torecognise thisideaof ‘anythingbeingachievable ’. Surprise
- In termsof demographics,Ithinkitwouldbe suitable foranaudience whoare lowermiddle
to uppermiddle class. Asitisaboutsomeone whois strugglingatworkand thenfindsa
betterworkingposition, alsoaboutthe stability of herlifestyle. Itmayjustappeal tofemales
as thisideaisbasedaroundfemale roles.
- For the 4C’s, it’smainlyforThe Struggler,thatbecome The Succeeder.Whereby,the main
role isgoingthroughlife withnopurpose orgoal. She thenturns herlife aroundbymaking
one differentchoice.
Form and Style: Do you have anything to say about how you will shoot thisfilm?Certain cameras
needed,aparticular style/genre/lookyouare aiming for?
- I wanta lotof scenes tobe in a montage, tobe able tospeedupcertainmomentsanduse
some creative editing.Howeverthismightmeanalackof script. Thisis because the scenes
will be inshortmontage clips, thatshow what itgoingon/happening,andthere theyisno
needfora script.
- I alsohad thisideaof the actors lookingatthe camera to give acomediceffect. Thisisused
ina fewTV series,Ihaven’tseenthistechnique inanyfilms. The TV showsinclude,The
Office andModernFamily.Itiscomedicbecause the actorsare interactingwiththe audience
by connectingthemintothe scene asif theywere theythere, almostasa reference toact
off?The filmsinclude FerrisBueller’sDayOff,whereby we findFerrisnarratinginner
thoughtsandfeelingsof the othercharacters. He isthe onlyone thatdoesit,so it couldbe a
personal reference.
- The genre is drama/comedy.The dramaisthroughher unimpressiveandunambitiousjob
and howthe protagonistcan change this.Comedyisthroughthe secondscene, havinga
conversationwithherroommate.Iwantthe atmosphere of the filmtobe light-heartedand
optimistic.
- Regardingspecial effects,Iwantthe filmtobe naturalistic,butIwill needtoeditinseveral
montage scene,wherebyIwill be cutthe scenesshorter,havingsimilarlyrepeatedclips,
showingthe passingof time.
- I will trynot to use a tripodas I wantthe filmingtobe quite dynamic, especiallywhenthere
are conversations.Imightuse atripodinthe auditionscene andwhenAbbieisdriving.
- The lightingisgoingtobe quite basicastheyare livingina regularhouse, howeverIwant
the auditionscene tobe where everythingis more stylised.Thiswouldmeanaddingin
lightingtoenhance howshe looksonstage/auditionspace.
Marketplace:Where do you see this filmin the market? Will it do well at festivals? Is there scope
for a sequel/prequel,spinoffetc?
- I don’tthinkright for a festival,asintermsof geography,itisfilmedquite locally,soitmay
not come across particularlyoptimisticinthatenvironment. However, asa positive message,
4. it can be fitfor anyone interestedinthatgenre. Italsohas a verygenericendingthatcanbe
relatable inotherfilms,notnecessarilyprestigiousfilmfestivals.
- It can have a prequel,of whichcouldbe abouthow she startedoutat her firstjob,or her
earlylife atschool/college/university.
- As fora sequel, itcouldontoshow herjourneyonstage, maybe ina largerscale, theatresin
London, forexample. Itmaystart withherlivingina new location, showingthe contrastin
the previousfilm.Itcanalsoshow her careeron stage and the troublesanddifficultiesof
workingin that industry. Itendwithherachievinganew goal or changingsomethinginher
life orothers.
