Introduction
Time is possible to manage.
 We cannot change time.
 There are always seven days in a
week,
 twenty-four hours a day,
 sixty minutes in an hour,
 sixty seconds in a minute, and
 86,400 seconds in one day.

It has been said that "Time is
Money" -- but I disagree.
When you think about it, isn't
Time really LIFE?
At the end of your life, can you
even imagine saying to yourself,
“
I wish I'd made more money?"

 It's more likely you'd be thinking "I
wish I'd had more TIME –
 Time to spend with my loved ones,
time to enjoy life more,
 time to take that special vacation
etc.
What we can do, is use our time
effectively so that we succeed in our
professional and personal lives.
Meaning of time.
 Time is the 24 hours blessing given
to every one on the surface of this
earth that God .
 Time is the same every where in the
world but varies due to some
geographical boundaries.
 It is the most valuable commodity
we all have in the same quantity and
measure.
Features of Time
 Time cannot be bought and stored
 It is impossible to increase time
 The passage of time is constant and cannot be
borrowed, leased or lent.
 Time is a valuable capital asset
 Time is more valuable than money
 Time is infinite & scarce
 In fact time is life.
Time Management
 Time management means being in
full control of your time and task
ahead of you rather than allowing
them to control you.
 In other words allocating time
effectively for every task you have
for each day and accomplishing
them efficiently.

 A better use of this singular most
valuable and limited resource can
only be achieved through
conscious, continuous and
consistent time management
which enhances productivity.

 you must use a planner which
involves :
 Setting of goals,
 Taking corresponding actions to
back up your goals,
 evaluation of your performance
 Adjustment of plans and actions
when necessary

 Reduce interruptions by creating stronger boundaries

Management
 Time Robbers: the greatest
enemy of time management is
called “time Robbers” a
terminology used to describe the
many sided wasters of the
available time.
. A careful analysis of time robbers
shows clearly that we steal our

 A time waster is something that
occurs in the day that is not
necessary to your day. And if it did
not occur, you could have quite
possibly gotten something else
done in its place.
 A time waster prevents you from
accomplishing some goal.

 Self – Imposed and System – Imposed time
wasters.
 self – imposed time waster: - visiting with
friends, talking on phone, listening to music,
watching of television, computer games, e –
mail, lack of planning, day dreaming, not being
able to say no, alcohol, recreational drugs, not
following instructions, making avoidable
mistakes, poor reading concentration etc.

 System Imposed Time Wasters: these are
activities people engage you with that steal
your time. E.g. over – long visits, phone
interruptions, music / noise, waiting delays,
roommate problems, unclear assignments, too
many demands other peoples problems,
mechanical failures, illness or fatigue, lack of
authority, emergencies, family meetings etc.
Procrastination
 Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a
task, which needs to be accomplished. This
can lead to feelings of guilt, inadequacy,
depression, and self .
 Procrastination has a high potential for painful
consequences.
 It interferes with ones` academic and personal
success .
Why do Procrastination
 Poor time Management
 Difficulty in concentration
 Fear and anxiety
 Negative beliefs e.g. I cannot succeed.
 Personal problems, finding the task boring ,
 failure and unrealistic expectations and
perfectionism

Reward Yourself for Not Procrastinating Give

Make Procrastination Unnecessary:

put Prioritize the Tasks That Cause You to
Procrastinate

Don't Give Yourself an Excuse to Procrastinate

Recognize self –problems Motivate your self to
study: dwell on success, not on failure

Try to study in small groups so others can keep you
motivated.

Set realistic goals for you to accomplish.

Modify your environment eliminate or minimize

 At the end of the semester, a
standard three – credit course may
have covered over a thousand pages
of text, forty or more hours of lecture
notes and hundreds of definitions or
problems. It is easy to see how you
can feel overwhelmed by volume of
material to be learned. Where do you
begin?

 First, develop a game plan: creating a plan for
the final exams will help you to face finals
more confidently.
 List all the courses you currently have to take
a final exam in.
 Then think in terms of your goal, what grade
do you want to get out of the course,
 Identify and select the most important
materials find out about the exam and what

table of contents, from your textbook and old
tests, assignments. Integrate information from
your reading and lecture notes.
 Explain information in your own words. This
will improve concentration and provides
feedback about how well you understand the

  • 3. Introduction Time is possible to manage.  We cannot change time.  There are always seven days in a week,  twenty-four hours a day,  sixty minutes in an hour,  sixty seconds in a minute, and  86,400 seconds in one day.
  • 4. Introduction cont. It has been said that "Time is Money" -- but I disagree. When you think about it, isn't Time really LIFE? At the end of your life, can you even imagine saying to yourself, “ I wish I'd made more money?"
  • 5. Introduction cont.  It's more likely you'd be thinking "I wish I'd had more TIME –  Time to spend with my loved ones, time to enjoy life more,  time to take that special vacation etc. What we can do, is use our time effectively so that we succeed in our professional and personal lives.
  • 6. Meaning of time.  Time is the 24 hours blessing given to every one on the surface of this earth that God .  Time is the same every where in the world but varies due to some geographical boundaries.  It is the most valuable commodity we all have in the same quantity and measure.
  • 7. Features of Time  Time cannot be bought and stored  It is impossible to increase time  The passage of time is constant and cannot be borrowed, leased or lent.  Time is a valuable capital asset  Time is more valuable than money  Time is infinite & scarce  In fact time is life.
  • 8. Time Management  Time management means being in full control of your time and task ahead of you rather than allowing them to control you.  In other words allocating time effectively for every task you have for each day and accomplishing them efficiently.
  • 9. Time Management cont.  A better use of this singular most valuable and limited resource can only be achieved through conscious, continuous and consistent time management which enhances productivity.

  • 14. Time wasters  A time waster is something that occurs in the day that is not necessary to your day. And if it did not occur, you could have quite possibly gotten something else done in its place.  A time waster prevents you from accomplishing some goal.

Time wasters Cont.  Self – Imposed and System – Imposed time wasters.  self – imposed time waster: - visiting with friends, talking on phone, listening to music, watching of television, computer games, e – mail, lack of planning, day dreaming, not being able to say no, alcohol, recreational drugs, not following instructions, making avoidable mistakes, poor reading concentration etc.
  • 16. Time wasters Cont.  System Imposed Time Wasters: these are activities people engage you with that steal your time. E.g. over – long visits, phone interruptions, music / noise, waiting delays, roommate problems, unclear assignments, too many demands other peoples problems, mechanical failures, illness or fatigue, lack of authority, emergencies, family meetings etc.
  • 17. Procrastination  Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task, which needs to be accomplished. This can lead to feelings of guilt, inadequacy, depression, and self .  Procrastination has a high potential for painful consequences.  It interferes with ones` academic and personal success .
