1. THE CELL IS LIKE A HIGH
SCHOOL
Hannah Frazier

2. The plasma
membrane regulates
what leaves and enters
the cell, just like how
the secretary at the
front desk of a high
school controls who
enters and leaves the
school.
3. The principal,
much like the
mitochondria is
the powerhouse.
The principal
keeps the entire
high school
functioning and
the mitochondria
takes in nutrients,
breaks them down,
and creates energy
rich molecules to
4. The student
government in
the high school
controls all of the
operations that
go on in, just like
the nucleus
controls all of the
cells activities.
5. The cytoplasm
includes all of
materials inside
and outside of the
nucleus, just like
the school walls
are on both the
inside and outside.
6. The lunch lady
makes the food for
the high school,
which is similar to
the endoplasmic
reticulum (ER),
where the
ribosomes
assemble all
proteins for the
7. Just like the food
that the lunch lady
makes gives the
students energy to
get through the
school day, the
mitochondria is the
source of ATP which
is the energy that
the cell uses.
8. The janitor picks
up after the
students and cleans
up all the trash and
recycles things that
can be used still.
The lysosomes are
similar since they
break down the cell
waste so the parts
of the cell can be
reused.
