Dr. thomas taylor houston minimally invasive surgery
1. Dr. Thomas Taylor retired from medicine after a
long and successful career in both the United
Kingdom and the United States.
“I lived in the UK until twenty-five years ago,”
he recalls, “when I was invited to come to the
United States as a professor of surgery at
Baylor College of Medicine.”
Among his areas of specialty was abdominal
surgery. This is a general term for surgery that
may include the stomach, gallbladder, small or
large intestine, the liver, pancreas, the
spleen, the esophagus, and the appendix. He is
also trained in laparoscopic surgery, which is
sometimes known as minimally invasive surgery.
In this, only a small incision of a half-inch or
so is made in the patient. Plastic tubes are
inserted through the incision, and surgical
instruments and a tiny camera are inserted
through the tube. The surgeon views the inner
body through images transmitted by the camera,
and performs the surgery with robotic
instruments.
Dr. Thomas Taylor has homes in Houston and in
England.
