Organs of our body
1.
2. What happens to the air we breath? Where does it go?
The air we breath goes into our lungs.
What happens to the food we eat? Where does it go?
Food we eat goes into our stomach.
What do we call Lungs and stomach as?
We call them as Organs.
What are Organs?
Organs are parts of our body that perform a particular functions.
What are some of the large organs on our Body
Lungs
Stomach
Heart
Kidney
3. Do these Organs work along?
No, many large and Small organs work together. This is called Organ System.
What is this? What is a cycle made up of?
Wheels, Seat, Peddle, Stand, Breaks, Handle bar,
chain Nuts/bolt
Each Part of the cycle plays a role for the cycle to
function properly.
Even if one main part is faulty/missing the cycle will
not work.
What is This? How is it similar to the Cycle?
Like Cycles our skeleton systems have many
small body parts, that work together to
perform an operation.
Similarly Many small and large organs work
together to perform a function or Task.
4. Some of the Organ Systems are
Circulatory System
Respiratory System
Digestive System
Excretory System
Nervous System
5. Digestive System
What is a digestive system? What parts make up the digestive system?
The digestive system helps us to break down the food we eat.
Many organs(parts) together form the digestive system.
Mouth
Food Pipe or Esophagus
Stomach
Small Intestine
Rectum
Large Intestine
6. Mouth : Digestion starts with the mouth. Its helps us to break the food into smaller particles
with the help of teeth and saliva .
Food Pipe : This is also known as Esophagus. It pushes the food from the mouth into the
stomach
Stomach : The stomach has gastric juice that break down the food into juicy mixture. The
Gastric juice kills any bacteria in the food. Stomach also store the food we eat.
Small Intestine : The juicy mixture from the stomach is sent to the small intestine.
Most digestion happens in the small Intestine.
The Substances like fats, Minerals and vitamins that our body needs is passed
into the blood.
Large intestine : Any substance that the is not absorbed into the blood goes into the Large
intestine
Rectum : This is the final part of the digestive system. The substances that our body does not need
are let out thru the rectum and anus.
7. What is the meaning of Respiration?
Respiration means breathing in and breathing Out of air and using the oxygen from it.
Which Organs(parts of our body ) do we Use?
We use Our
NOSE
LARYNX also known as Voice Box
WINDPIPE
LUNGS
8. NOSE : We breathe in air thru our nose.
The Lungs Process the air and takes oxygen.
It then Sends out the unwanted air (Carbon dioxide) out thru
the nose.
LARYNX : Try and sing “la la la” can you feel air flowing in and out of your
lungs. This causes you to sing, talk and yell. This is also known as
the VOICE BOX.
WINDPIPE : It carries Air in and out of our lungs. It connects the nose and
Mouth to the lungs.
LUNGS : The Lungs absorb the oxygen from the air and give out the
carbon dioxide. The Lungs are like Balloons, it will inflate when
air is filled and deflate when air is let out.
Did you know?
The Nose has small hair that helps us to filter our the dust particles in our hair.
9. Should the respiratory and digestive system work together? Why?
The Respiratory System and digestive system should work together to give the body energy. How?
The Oxygen that we get from the lungs is sent into the blood. The digestive system uses this oxygen o break down food
particles in the stomach
10. What Pumps blood to the parts of our body?
The HEART Pumps Blood to all parts of our body.
How does this blood reach all parts?
Blood flows from the heart to other parts of our body thru Arteries
and Veins.
The Heart Pumps Blood.
The arteries(RED) carry blood FROM the Heart to other parts of our body
The Veins(BLUE) carry blood from other parts TO the Heart
11. How many times does the heart beat (pulse) per minute?
The heart beats approximately 70-80 times a minute in an
adult. When the heart pumps it pushes the blood to the arteries ,
which carries it to all parts of the body.
What is a Pulse rate? Where can u feel it?
The no. of times our heart beats is the pulse rate. It differs from
person to person. You can feel it below your thumb.
How does Blood help us?
Blood carries digested food and oxygen to all
parts of our body.
It fights infection.
Helps the blood to clot when we fall and hurt ourself
12. What does Excretion mean?
Excretion Means the process of removing waste materials.
What are the Excretory Systems in our Body?
Kidney : Liquid waste from our blood is filtered by the kidney
Ureter : two thin tubes that Connects the Kidney and Bladder.
The Filtered waste(Urine) from kidney is passed to the
bladder thru Ureter.
Bladder : Is a Sac that Store the Urine.
Urethra : removed the waste from the bladder outside our
body
13. What are the other ways we excrete waste water out of our body?
Sweating thru our skin Helps us to remove waste out of our body.
Carbon dioxide that we breathe out.
What is the other name for excretory system?
Excretory system is also known as Urinary System.
What is the shape of our Kidney?
Our Kidney resembles a beans. That is why we call
these beans as Kidney beans(Rajma)
Why is kidney important?
Kidney is important to filter waste out of our body. If we don’t
remove the waste, toxins will build up in our body and we will fall sick.
We need at least One working Kidney to have a healthy life. The urine Sample that we give in hospitals will tell if our
kidneys are healthy or not.
How can we keep our kidneys healthy?
• Drink Plenty of water
• Play regularly.
• do not control your Need to use the restroom for too long. It can make your Urinary system week and can get Infection.
• Keep your private parts clean at al times.
14. NERVOUS SYSTEM
We have the
Digestive System
Respiratory system
Circulatory System
excretory System.
All these system need to work together. Who takes care of making sure all these systems work together?
Brain
Spinal Cord
Nerves
The main function of the nervous system is to
Control and coordinate the working of the other
systems. Like the digestive, respiratory , excretory
and circulatory system.
15. How do you remember your name or the way to your house?
Your BRAIN is in charge of these things and many more. Your brain takes
information , process it, store it and also sends signals to other parts of the
body.
Your brain is the BOSS or COMPUTER of your body. It controls our entire
system even when we sleep.
Activities like eating , walking and talking is coordinated by our brain.
The SPINAL CORD is a bundle of nerves that carries signals to and from the
brain.
The NERVES send signals to our brains. For eg, if we place our hand near fire.
Nerves sends signals and brain interprets the signal and we move our hands
away
16. Food that looks like our organs. Can you guess the organ.
Walnut Brain
Carrot Eyes
Tomato Heart
