2. Feedback
After submitting the first draft of my music magazine ‘Slickk’ I received some
feedback to make some changes and therefore end up with the best final product
possible.
I found this very helpful as I got the viewpoint from my peers and their opinion
which is extremely valuable as this is the target audience my magazine would
hopefully sell to.
The feedback I received was:
• Crop/Clone corners, fade edges to black
• ‘December 2010’ should line up to the last ‘K’ on ‘Slickk’ or should be made smaller and be
placed next to the issue number
• ‘2 hours in 2 pages’ should be a different font. Rephrase sentence.
• On the button, rub out a little bit of the splatter on model’s arm and fingers.
• On the button: Win tickets
to the
VMA’s
•Keep font the same for ‘Hip Hop is Dead’
3. Using the Clone Stamp tool
Feedback: Crop/Fade corners to take away the flash corners
In order to improve upon
this point, I used the Clone
Stamp tool to clone the
edges of the flash unwanted
effect. I selected the tool,
then pressed the ‘Alt’ key to
choose which part of the
wall I wanted to clone in on
top of the corners. As you
can see from the image to
the right, you can then start
to colour over the desired
area.
4. Keeping the font the same
Feedback: Don’t change font midway through a sentence
In order to improve upon
this point, I used the Text
tool and changed the
font of ‘dead’ back to
‘Action of the Time
Upper Case’.
However, because this
font was somewhat
larger, I then had to
resize the word in order
for it to fit in the required
structure.
5. Improving the button
Feedback: Change the layout within the button
In order to improve
upon this action point,
I increased the size of
the button and
positioned certain
words on a new line. I
also put the ‘VMA’s
part on a new line as
well as making it bigger
and bolder. This was to
add emphasis and
draw the attention of
the reader.
6. Rubbing the splatter
Feedback: Reduce the amount of splatter marks
In order to make this
improvement, I used
the rubber tool to
erase the number of
splatter marks on
the model’s arm and
all of it on his right
hand.
I didn’t delete all of
the marks on his
right arm in order for
the splatter effect to
still come across.
7. Aligning the date
Feedback: Align the date
In order to align the
date with the
magazine’s masthead I
went on ‘View’ and then
chose the ‘Grid’ from
the options that
followed. The grid
allowed me the see
where things lined up
and gave a more
accurate alignment for
the ‘0’ to be lined with
the the ‘K’ on ‘Slickk’.
8. Explanatory Text
Feedback: Rephrase the explanatory text and choose a different font
I changed the font of the
explanatory text to ‘TW
Cen MT’ because it suited
better with the
accompanying font of
‘Hand of Sean’ and so this
could also be my main
font used in my Table of
Contents.
I also changed the phrase
to something more
interesting. I added a pun
within the text as it’s a
typical media technique
used to entice customers
into buying the magazine.
