The human brain is constantly changing where many new neurons are formed while others neurons die and new synapses are created while other
synapses are removed (Spalding et al., 2013). Some dendrites will withdraw while other dendrites continue branching (Killgore et al., 2013). The
processes driving the reshaping of the brain are neuroplasticity and neurogenesis. Neuroplasticity is the brain's lifelong ability to rewire neural
connections to compensate for diseases and injuries or in response to changes in the environment, whereas neurogenesis is the ability to create new
neurons and neural connections. This dynamic process of remodeling gray matter is determined mainly by a person's genetics and can slow down due
to age (Denes, 2016). However, recent scientific evidence demonstrates other non–genetic factors that can significantly improve the development of the
brain and slow down neurodegeneration (Kays et al., 2012). Physical exercise has always been linked to a person's physical health, but many recent
scientific studies shows physical exercise can also keep a person's brain sharp. Exercise affects the brain in numerous ways by creating a flourishing
environment for brain growth, aiding the release of numerous hormones, and fighting against depression, stress, and anxiety.

The World Health Organization estimates that depression affects 1 in 10 adults in the United States. Untreated depression can diminish the quality of
life by contributing to the increase in the chronic diseases listed above. Depression can also lead to risky behaviors such as drug and alcohol abuse,
strained relationships, and create difficulties at work. Symptoms of depression include; daytime fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, sleep
troubles, and difficulty in finding pleasure in things that once brought the individual happiness (United States National Institute on Mental Health,
2014).
The United States continues to see a decline in the growth of its economy. The economy grew consistently by about 4% in the 50's and 60's. In the
70's and 80's there was a slight dip of growth to 3%. The last 10 years has only seen a growth rate of 2%. Many factors are contributed to the
stagnation of the GDP growth rate in the United States, one contributing factor is a loss of productivity in the workforce (United States, U.S. Bureau of
Economic Analysis, 2014).

Many studies have been conducted in order to determine how to increase productivity in the workplace. Many factors are said to influence human

Physical Exercises: Music Analysis
Music is widely used to accompany physical exercises. I have developed a playlist using BMRI–3. It consists of 10 songs that are designed for a series
of workout, including warm up stretching, moderate–intensity cardio exercise (treadmill), and a high–intensity weight training routine (ab crunch, leg
press and dumbbell bench press). The main purpose is to motivate and increase my intensity during the workout. I have selected songs with relatively
lower intensity to start off my exercises because they prepared me for the workout session while I was doing warm–up stretching. When I started
doing cardio, I chose songs with higher intensity that would suit the fast pace of running on treadmill because it requires continuous fast movement.

It is suggested that exercises can be performed for a longer period of time with music than without it, and it is more effective when fast music is
played. In addition, same level of exertion is perceived with music although the duration has increased (Thakur & Yardi, 2013). I found this to be quite
true since my endurance level became higher when I listen to songs with fast and upbeat tempo like this, the rhythm had motivated me to continue the
exercise.

high–intensity exercises, the lack of variety in music may result in negative psychological outcomes and boredom which failed to motivate me.

Rigorous physical activity acts as a stressor on the body and yields multiple physiological responses. The purpose of physical exercise is to improve
the body's health by lowering resting heart rate, blood pressure, etc. All of these benefits are closely related to the physiological effects of exercise.
Heart rate is the number of heart beats produced per minute. Since the heart beats are the sounds produced by the closing of heart valves, the heart rate
is related to the contractions of the heart. When the body is under stress, such as during physical exercise, the cardioacceleratory system increases the
action potentials sent to the sinoatrial node, which consequently increases the frequency (Waters and Tomicek, 2017). Furthermore, the force of the
contractions also increases to eject blood at a higher speed. The increased force of contractions increases the blood pressure. Carbon dioxide serves as a
waste product of cellular respiration. Excessive carbon dioxide decreases the pH of blood by yielding a high concentration of carbonic acid, which
dissociates to increase the concentration of hydrogen ions (Waters and Tomicek, 2017). During rigorous physical activity, the cells of the body
produce more carbon dioxide, which causes the blood to become more acidic. The parasympathetic nervous system negates the increasing blood acidity
by increasing the rate of respiration and the volume of carbon dioxide exhaled. Similarly, oxygen serves as a fuel for cellular respiration.

As work experience, I am currently gaining valuable coaching and teaching practice in my free time at a local primary school (under guidance of
the sports teacher). I have also been helping out at an athletics sports club that takes its members to the Special Olympics. I led a warm up activity

For someone with a history of minor eating disorder and extreme caloric restriction, I am desperate to find a healthy way to keep the weight off
permanently, especially when I have almost attempted every diet including the vegan diet.
Moreover, recently, I have become more worried that my constant fear of overeating would eventually evolve into eating disorders such as bulimia

subjects to be more depressed, have a lower self–esteem, even more anxious depending on their living conditions. CONCLUSION: Even with the
major weakness I feel this article is a good starting point to expand on and do on a much larger and varied scale. I learned how they test levels of
mental illnesses and how they record it. I would recommend it to another student because, I'm a firm believer that being physically active can help you

According to three of the studies' results shown in this article the best our physical condition is and the more we exercise the better our brain works.
One of the studies showed that old men's brains that have a good physical condition worked almost like the brain of people younger than them. In fact
men of the same age but with bad physical condition have a slower mental activity.
The second study was about two groups of old women of the same age. One of the group went to the gym for a year, two times a week, for resistant
training. On the other hand the other group went to the gym for one year, but only one day per week for a balance training program. As a result the
first group showed less lesions in the brain white matter than the other group.
In the third study researchers compared the strength of legs' muscles in twins to their mental skills. The results of the study showed that the twin with
the most powerful legs was the one that have better results when she took a cognitive test 10 years later. Then researchers found that "the twin with

In 2004, Szabo and Griffiths conducted a study on the importance of exercise for sport science students compared to general exercisers. They found
that exercise addiction was twice as high at 6.9% than the rest of the population at 3.6%. Based on this data, it was concluded that "exercise students

The Effects Of Physical Exercise On The Brain Essay The human brain is constantly changing where many new neurons are formed while others neurons die and new synapses are created while other synapses are removed (Spalding et al., 2013). Some dendrites will withdraw while other dendrites continue branching (Killgore et al., 2013). The processes driving the reshaping of the brain are neuroplasticity and neurogenesis. Neuroplasticity is the brain's lifelong ability to rewire neural connections to compensate for diseases and injuries or in response to changes in the environment, whereas neurogenesis is the ability to create new neurons and neural connections. This dynamic process of remodeling gray matter is determined mainly by a person's genetics and can slow down due to age (Denes, 2016). However, recent scientific evidence demonstrates other non–genetic factors that can significantly improve the development of the brain and slow down neurodegeneration (Kays et al., 2012).
