Lac Vien
Lac Vien is a casual restaurant which serves basic things in Vietnamese cuisine with all sorts of the
classic Pho, but there are a great variety of Asian foods in the menu for dine in or takeout. They
opened in 2010, and now are running three locations in North York, Mississauga, and Scarborough,
but I will deal with in this paper only North York branch near Yorkdale Mall. I have been going
there for one year, foods are consistently good and the staff members are friendly and
accommodating.
The restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere with ample vehicle parking including convenient
spaces reserved for disabled customers. The doors are wide enough for wheelchair access as well. It
is spacious with plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor ... Show more content on

As for their service, servers need to continuously perform in a sophisticated way. You may get the
Pho even before the appetizer arrives. Once it gets busy, food runners tend to rush, delivering as
soon as one plate comes out of the kitchen. Also, they should try to serve everyone at a table all at
once, especially main dish instead of one person getting one's food in advance while the rest of the
people at the same table are waiting. Lastly, although they have an extensive menu selection, this
place, in fact, is not specializing in vegetarian dishes in that Pho is made with either beef stock or
chicken stock. Such use of raw vegetables is one of the great things about this restaurant that makes
it so fresh, but, it does not necessarily mean it is a good place for vegetarians. Due to the fact that
lots of their recipes leans toward using fish sauce, non–meat eaters may find there is a lack of choice
over the hundred menus.
By the time I was about to leave, the server had brought complimentary coffee for me, and this one
was in the top three coffees in my life. I am not a big enough coffee connoisseur to say whether the
coffee here is the best or not, but I did enjoy it. If you have a sweet tooth like me, make sure to get
the famous Vietnamese Filtered Hot/Ice Coffee with Condensed Milk, simply,

Rice and Asian Culture
Rice and Asian Culture
In 1990, the rice is grown around 520 million tons in 112 countries and 95 percent of them were
produced and consumed in Asia (Chang). The rice in Asian culture is not just cereal, but it's part of
their lives. It serves their meal almost everyday on their dining table. Oryza sativa is a species of
monocot plants and known as Asian rice. The grain was spread started from South Asia to Southeast
Asia and East Asia.
South Asia
South Asia is the region that the rice was originated from, although the historical record shows that
China, in 2700 B.C., cultivated rice farm. Among countries in South Asia, India and Bangladesh are
the largest rice production countries (Mohanty 2014). There is largest paddy field cultivation in
India. Paddy field is a land filled with water where deep–water rice grows. In India, there are four
kinds of rice are grown: dry or upland rice, rain–fed rice, irrigated rice, and deep–water rice. Indians
like to long shaped rice, which is, dry and separate when it's cooked unlike East Asian countries.
The most popular rice in India is 'basmati.' The best quality basmati comes from Dehra Dun located
in Northern India. The lower grade rice, patna rice is produced in Bihar located Eastern India near
Nepal. Indians in rural area produced red rice, which has thicker grain and rich nutrition. Plain
boiled rice dish is served in South India and coastal villages. Roasted dry rice mixed with vegetables
is made in Bombay located in West Coast

Not everyone know how to make Pho noodle soup but everyone probably know of Pho or heard of
Pho somewhere in their life. The authentic Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of white
long flat sticky rice noodle, beef broth soup, and it usually served with sprouts, basil, culantro,
cilantro, white onion, green onion, lime, and other extras on the side such as spiracha hot chili and
hoisin sauce so that you can season the soup to your own taste. But who actually have tried the best
Pho noodle soup? Probably not many people have tried a bowl of Pho noodle soup that taste so
delicious, savory and unforgettable, unless they have a chance to travel to Vietnam where Pho is
originated from. No matter whether it is daytime or nighttime, searching for a hot, steaming bowl of
Pho noodle soup is never hard to find anywhere on the streets of Vietnam. Perhaps Pho is the most

PHO Or Physician-Hospital Organizations
Despite in the United States, PHOs or Physician–Hospital Organizations have been in decline, they
are making a comeback. The PHO is defined as a legal entity formed by physicians and one or more
hospital with the intention of negotiating contracts with payers and sharing in the financial rewards
of controlling cost while delivering high–quality care. (Farlex, 2014). PHO is best described in three
ways:
1. If doctors and hospitals cooperate to provide better care and lower cost, not to force higher fees
from payers, so that the PHO can offer a convincing plan to payers.
2. PHO can succeed if it meets independent doctors' professional and cost–effective needs.
3. Health plan share savings with providers who deliver care are more efficient (p.

Vietnamese Sandwich: The Long French Colonial Experience...
Starting with the influx of Vietnamese 'boat people' in the late 70s and early 80s, Vietnamese cuisine
has slowly entered the American culinary imagination. What's not to love? For health–conscious
Americans, there are scrumptious and delectable imperial rolls made of rice paper, rice vermicelli,
carrot slices, tofu, basil leaves, and dollop of hoisin sauce. For meat lovers, the classic ban mi
sandwich offers some gastronomic delights. Obviously inspired by the long French colonial
experience in Indochina, the ban mi sandwich incorporate french elements like liverwurst and
marries it to Vietnamese tastes in the form of roasted pork and 'special sauce.'

How to make beef Kathew
Kathiew, rich beefy broth, made from ox bones and roast simmered in beef stock, over rice noodles.
Filled with plentiful of meat, thinly slice; garnish with cilantro and jalapenos. One of my favorite

cloves garlic, 1 whole onion, ginger, star anise, and 14 cups water, cooked on high temperature till

hours. Occasionally stir the broth and remove and bubble that forms on the top of the broth; make
sure you don't cover the pot. (The longer you cook your broth, the tastier it'll be.) Step two, cooking
your noodles; while your broth is cooking, take your second pot and put 8 cups of water, bring it to
a boil and add in your noodles, cook till it's tender. Now turn off the heat and remove your pot and
pour your noodles into a colander, rinsed under cold water and drained, then set aside. Return to
your simmering broth, remove all the meat and spices as well as the bones. You can discard the
spices and place your oxtails, beef bones, beef tendon and beef chuck in a large bowl, picks out
meat from beef bones, cut beef tendon and beef chuck to bite sizes and set it a side. After you've
done that, season your soup broth with fish sauce, sugar and salt. Taste soup broth and seasoning to
your taste. Add more sugar for sweeter taste, or more fish sauce for saltier taste. Keep soup broth

Essay On Vietnamese Cuisine
What is Vietnamese Cuisine: Origin and Evolution If a Vietnamese cook is asked where his cuisine
originated from, he might, reply, from his ancestors. The cuisine has evolved by the contribution of
various rulers, invaders and indigenous peoples– each one adding their own nuances to create a
deliciously simple cuisine. The Chinese made the first dramatic impact on its cuisine, teaching them
Buddhism with its inherent vegetarian beliefs and the art of chopsticks, use of noodles, stir–frying in
oil, tofu, soy sauce and cultivation of rice. India introduced Vietnam to spices. The Mongol
tribesmen brought with them their love of beef, which resulted in the creation of Vietnamese soup,
Pho. Explorers from Spain brought foods from the New World, including chillies and potatoes.
Later, the French passed on their techniques of sautéing and simmering for stock making, and
introduced onion, coffee, beer, ice cream and baguettes. From Thailand they took basil, lemon grass
and shrimp paste and combined them with Indian spices. Cambodia introduced Vietnam to coconut
milk. With such diverse inspiration, the resulting dishes are wholly unique. (Basan, VIETNAMESE

Vietnamese Food Essay
Vietnamese cuisine can be very diverse due its geography and climate. There is no accurate average
temperature for the whole country. The Vietnamese national culture emerged from a concrete living
environment: a tropical country with many rivers and the confluence of great cultures (Vietnam
Country). Vietnam is a long, narrow country in Southeast of Asia that borders south China, east of
Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam is practically the size of Italy and Japan put together; and is divided
into three regions: north, central, and south. Vietnam has variety types of food for every occasion,
from an everyday meal to New Year's festivities food. The flavor of the Vietnamese food varies

some say that nouc mam is their secret recipe. Pho is the most popular dish among the Vietnamese
society. What is pho? Well Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup, but there are two type of common pho
and that is Pho Bo (beef noodle soup) and Pho Ga(chicken soup). Pho Bo is beef broth and that is
made by the stewing of a cow bones in a large pot for quite some time. Pho Ga is very similar to
Pho Bo. Instead of beef broth is made of chicken broth and that is made from stewing chicken. The
noodle itself is made from varieties of rice. However, the ingredients and toppings may vary a slight
bit in the North and the South. And that is topped with numerous herbs like: lime, bean sprout, mint
leaves, basil green onions, and several other vegetables or fruit. This dish is absolutely refreshing
and warming for the soul. With the brutal cold, pho was home of the North. Pho is normally eaten
for breakfast, but many of people eat at lunch, or even dinner. The spiciest food is Central Vietnam.
Here, everything consists of abundant spices like chili pepper and color food. The food here is hotter
and spicier. Spring rolls and Bun Bo Hue are commonly eaten. A spring roll contains fresh meat or

Managed Care Cases
Managed care contracts are investment assets, similar to stocks and bonds. As such these contracts
need to be continually monitored and evaluated in any type of HCOs' contracting procedures.
Therefore, following factors need to be reviewed. Reimbursement rate concentrating with whether
emergency service charge separated or not, the broker cannot get paid more than the provider, total

on full charge or discounted charge, is there any special language that cannot be clarified et.al. I will
focus on following structures in the given types of HCOs.
For hospitals, the predominant unit of payment for inpatient care is often a per day basis. The
hospital receives a fixed daily payment rate per enrollee patient regardless of the services provided.
However, it can have mixed option in the hospitals including pay a per diem rate for all inpatient
services, as well as case rate pay for DRGs; most often high costed surgeries get paid by case basis
rate. Under this case based arrangement, providers must take into consideration outlier and inlier

upon services to the enrollees. The risk under capitation is shifted substantially from the plan to the
provider. The provider can decrease the risk by ensuring that an adequate number of individuals are

In clinically integrated network a group of hospitals or physicians collaborated and work on behalf

Collective bargaining by physicians by competing with each other is considered as anti–competitive

A key step in clinically integrated networks collaborates physicians will bargain with payers or

A Physician Hospital Organization ( Pho )
A physician–hospital organization (PHO) consists of 15 hospitals – with 2,247 staffed beds – and
approximately 500 physicians. The PHO operates in a very large section of south Georgia, including
the cities of Valdosta, Tifton, Thomasville, Moultrie, and Waycross. The PHOs' physician members
represent approximately 90 percent of all physicians practicing in the region.
The PHO served as a vehicle through which competing hospitals and physicians could bargain
collectively with health plans to obtain higher fees for themselves. The owner PHOs, member
hospitals, and member physicians canceled contracts with payors and informed them that the PHO
would be the sole entity through which they would enter into payor contracts. To contract with the
PHO, payors allegedly have had to accept the fixed physician fee schedule and fixed discount of no
more than 10 percent off hospital list prices.
1. Explain why this arrangement would be found "per se" illegal under the FTCs' analysis.
2. What kind of actions could be taken to restructure this arrangement to avoid a determination that
it is per se illegal?
3. Discuss the alternate FTC analysis that is applied to such cases if they are suspect but not found
to be per se illegal.

Primary Care Gatekeeping
Gatekeeping is a core concept in a primary health care (Grumbach et al.,1998). One of the several
key aspects of gatekeeping is to guard patients that have direct access to specialised care
(Bodenheimer & Grumbach,2009). General practitioners and other primary care professionals are
signified to be gatekeepers (World Health Organisation,2000). Starfield.B (1992), Grumbach & Fry
(1993) and Bodenheimer & Grumbach (2009) points out responsibilities of primary care professions
(gatekeeper) first, they are to encounter the patient's health care (Starfield B.,1992) and proceed
ambulatory care (Grumbach and Fry,1993). A gatekeeper is the decision maker for opening the gates
to a further specialised field after proceeding fundamental primary care on a patient hence, patients
are not entitled to direct their own specialists. Also, their purposes are not just to take care of the
patient's wellbeing but giving extensive treatment if any is required (World Health Organisation,
2000) such as, minor illness which includes skin disorders, respiratory infection, headache and
common flu, also includes preventive care; vaccinations, immunization and prenatal care are some
of the common examples (Heinemann,1980). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Different Types of Vietnamese Foods It is amazing how diverse the various types of culture can be.
From country to country, even down to the different states and regions within the same nation.
Culture is said to have five basic characteristics; it is learned, it is has symbolic structure, it is
shared, and it has the ability to adapt. It is a system consisting of variables that constitute a rational
way of life (Vien, 2003). A change in social environments results in a change in culture as well,
which is why Vietnam has three different regions. Many times, food is a factor that differentiates

Each region is known to have its own specialty dishes that were influenced by its surrounding
environment. Climate plays a huge factor in foods that are popular amongst these areas. Climate
affects the food in several ways, such as direct effects production of crops, which leads to food
supply (Gregory, Ingram, & Brklacich, 2005). Each of these groups has its own distinctive culture
and is associated with a specific environmental setting (Vien, 2003). Also, another factor to consider
on the different types of food from each region is the influences from the neighboring countries. The
first region is North Vietnam; Bac Bo. China influences many of Bac Bo's dishes. That's why many
of the dishes tend to be more stir fried and include egg rolls, soy sauce and MSG (Destination,
2014). Their dishes tend to have delicate flavors. The weather in North Vietnam is a bit colder;
therefore they cannot grow much herbs and spices (Destinations, 2014). Their dishes have less
vegetables, fish and meats compare to other areas in Vietnam (Destinations, 2014). Since they don't
cook with chilies, use black pepper and they use less sugar in their dishes. A popular dish that
originated from Bac Bo is Banh Cuon. Banh Cuon is a paper–thin rice pancake rolled with ground
pork and mushrooms with a side of dipping sauce with herbs and sausages.

Physician-Hospital Organizations Case
In early 1990's, physician–hospital organizations (PHO), legal in the United States, developed to
provide attractive one–stop shopping for consumers, employers and managed care payors, by
bonding the medical staff to the hospitals within an organization (Daniels 2011). As with the
majority of healthcare decisions, legal issues surfaced among the formation of PHOs, forcing the
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to closely examine multiple alliances and networks. Examining
the South Georgia PHO, the FTC found per se illegal in multiple areas such as developing the group
in order to obtain higher fees, unlawfully fixed maximum allowable discounts, and restricted the
ability to contract outside the PHO (Creighton 2004). The FTC evaluates PHOs by assessing ...

By promoting competiveness, it would limit the per se illegal. In addition, agreement among the
competing providers to share financial risk for services provided via the network would benefit the
PHO providing efficiencies. Exclusive arrangements do not exist as automatically anticompetitive
as specific justifications may ensure the service to the networks' consumers. The rule of reason, an
analytical process provided by the FTC, examines various details and aspects to visualize the
competitive significance of the formation of the PHO (FTC 1996). Such as, if examination proves
the integration, of the network, benefits the consumers and the price agreements are necessary to
obtain the benefits for patients. Also, if a hospital decides not to provide a service that is not
profitable, but focus more on a profitable service, the hospital is allowed to enter into an agreement
with an integrated network PHO to provide the less profitable service. Healthcare reform has
created many unique opportunities for the development and networks of providers. Fortunately, the
U.S. legal systems engages plans, forums and laws to prevent the conflict of interest among

This capital acquisition explanation argued that organizations were forced to resort to franchising
because it allowed them to expand quickly without having to source scarce external financial
resources or to relinquish control as in a joint venture or stock market operation (Caves & Murphy,
1976). Thus, over time, it was expected that franchisers would repurchase or take over the (best)
franchised units in the system and eventually become fully company owned (Oxenfeldt & Kelly,
1969). However, research into this phenomenon has produced mixed results in the United States (for
example, Hunt, 1973; Brickley & Dark, 1987; Lafontaine, 1992). Moreover, it has been found that
where ownership redirection occurs it is ''more strategy driven than opportunistic'' (Dant, Kauffman,
& Robicheaux, 1998, p. i). Indeed, Blair and Lafontaine (2005) comment that ''most franchise
chains are hybrids: partially vertically integrated and partially franchised'' (p. 107). In contrast,
while some large fast food chains (such as McDonald's) strategically ensure a mix of franchised and
company–owned units, most franchise systems in Australia are almost fully franchised (Frazer,
Weaven, & Wright, 2008). Hence, different franchising models are employed around the world, and
there is no ''one–size–fits–all'' approach. An alternative explanation of franchising, first put forward
by Rubin (1978), focuses

way beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and struggles of

unique, diverse, and capable to rise from it all. Throughout the entire poem Rutledge suggests just
how diverse Houston is. For instance, the lines, "pray like you're sitting over Soup at Spanish

like Beyoncé when she was at HSPVA". Beyoncé struggled to come up from nearly nothing to
becoming one of music's top–selling artists with sold–out tours and a slew of awards. By putting
Beyoncé in the poem Rutledge universalizes Houston and reaches out to a whole other group other
than Houston itself. Rutledge also implies that like Beyoncé Houston can rise from nothing. Along
the same lines, Rutledge says "you can fill up our bayou but you will never rain on our parade".
Meaning Hurricane Harvey can rain and flood their river but never lower their spirits. Just like
Beyoncé fell many times but stayed strong and rose from it all. Beyoncé is an outstanding example
to universalize and show just how strong Houston

Phos Research Paper
Partially hydrogenated oils have been used by manufacturers for years. The FDA has decided to
remove PHOs from all manufacturers due to extensive research into the effects of PHOs. Partially
hydrogenated oils have been determined not to be GRAS, generally recognized as safe (Center).
Although the FDA had decided that PHOs are unhealthy many sources say that fats are needed for
body functions. In high amounts fats are going to be bad for the body but, with any type of food that
is the case and it is the job of the consumer to watch their eating habits. PHOs have a purpose of
why manufacturers use them and even though they are said to lower cholesterol but, that's not the
whole truth. The FDA's decision that Partially Hydrogenated Oils are unsafe is another unnecessary
health food regulation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fatty acids in the oil then absorb some of the hydrogen and becomes more dense. If the
manufacturer were to fully hydrogenate the oil, it would become a solid, basically a fat. When the
hydrogenation process is stopped half way, this is when it becomes partially hydrogenated oil.
PHO's are a butter substitute and have the same consistency(Armstrong). What complete
hydrogenation of fats does is turn healthful unsaturated fats into fully saturated fats. This is the
equivalent to regular, saturated, animal fat and since this animal fat and complete hydrogenation is
essentially the same this doesn't work. The solution was partially hydrogenated oils so that some of
the unsaturated molecules would remain and the product would remain healthy ("The

Essay on Different Types of Managed Care
The accelerating costs of US healthcare, the economic downturn, and reform outcry have revitalize
interest in integrated delivery systems (IDS). However, this is not a new concept. Shortell and

provide a coordinated continuum of services to a defined population and is able and willing to be
held accountable for the cost, quality and outcomes of care and, the health status of the population

My Cultural Identity
What is culture? Growing up I have always thought that the meaning of culture depended on your
race and ethnicity. But recently I have founded out that culture is a much broader topic than it may
seem. Culture is made up of race, ethnicity, hobbies, religion, traditions, and much more. In my
school years, I have always been viewed as a stereotypical asian who is intelligent and studies a lot.
But what others do not know is that I am just an average student who gets decent grades and does
not study much. What others also do not know is that race and ethnicity is only an aspect of what
makes up my cultural identity as a whole. The majority of my cultural identity is represented by
gaming, foods, and traditions due to my whole life being composed of these components. Gaming is
one of the aspect of my cultural identity and it represents me because my whole life has revolved
around gaming in multiple ways. For example, in Vietnam when I was eight years old, I had a
Windows XP computer and I would always play browser games on it. It was one of the most
exciting and enjoyable times of my life. I thought that these times would not last long because that
was when my family was planning to travel to America, however, what I did not expect was that the
technology in America was more advanced and more developed than that of Vietnam's. When I
arrived in America, I lived in my uncle's house and mainly played games on his Windows 7
computer that he allowed me to play on. Around this

Analysis Of Bich's The Saigon Market
Although she knows that change is bound to occur in her family, she did not know it would happen

epicenter of our lives, splitting our existence between two cultures," Bich explained (Nguyen 34).
After all, despite all of the changes Rosa has influenced in the Nguyen household, Rosa still
encourages Bich and Anh to keep her Vietnamese roots alive. The fact that Bich fights to keep some
Vietnamese roots alive is exemplified in the fact that she still believes that "the combination of

What Is Prescription Drug Abuse?
Medicine has been around for thousands of years and has diversified and given us many options to
treat illness or pain. Some are available as over–the–counter drugs that can be purchased almost
anywhere and others require you to get a prescription from your doctor in order to get it. Some of
these drugs that require a prescription often help people who deal with chronic pain, those who are
at the end of their life, or cancer patients. Unfortunately these drugs, although helpful to those who
need them, are being abused by millions of Americans every year. With doctors prescribing
ludicrous amounts of prescription drug, sometimes when it is not even necessary, and our lack of
knowledge on the subject, prescription drug abuse has become a big ... Show more content on

To prevent people from getting these drugs from home medicine cabinets, locking up the medicine
cabinet or simply locking up prescription drugs elsewhere would prevent those searching for them
from finding or obtaining them. Another solution to this problem is to host Drug Take–Back events.
In May 2011, the US Drug Enforcement Administration sponsored its second National Prescription
Drug Take–Back event and collected more than 188 tons of unwanted or expired medications from
5,361 designated disposal sites around the country ("Is Substance" 1). Michele Leonhard, a DEA
administrator who was involved with the planning of this event, commented, "With the support and
hard work of our local law enforcement and community partners, these events have not only
dramatically reduced the risk of prescription drug diversion and abuse, but have also increased
awareness of this critical public health issue," ("Is Substance"1). If we all could contribute or
sponsored more events like this will reduce the number of unwanted prescription drugs that would
be lying in medicine cabinets at home and prevent those who get prescription drugs from medicine
cabinets from using them. It would also help raise awareness about the problem surrounding
prescription drug abuse. Doctors can also contribute to the effort to end prescription drug abuse. For
those who need these drugs,

Meaning Of Culture In The United States
People have their own meaning of what culture is. According to Rohall (2014), culture is defined as,
"each society has its own unique patterns of behavior and beliefs" (p.21). Culture includes anything
from communication, cuisine, clothing, music, religion, customs, and etc. It is interesting to see how
society sees cultures from their eyes. Everyone follows a culture and it is fascinating how each
country has his or her own culture. Countries have some similar traditions but it is cool how each
country has their own traditions, which I think makes country unique and different from another
country. I come from Vietnam so I mostly follow the culture adopted from there. An example of

Why The Business Will Be Successful Or Not?
2) If one is looking specifically at the market, there are a lot of factors to consider to determine
whether the business will be successful or not. One of these factors is competition which is
important because it will impact the amount of customers and could also pose a barrier to entry. For
instance, if there is an established pho restaurant in Charlottesville one has to consider their market
power and ability to outprice your restaurant or if they've been in the market for a while they may
possess a competitive advantage over your future restaurant. Slightly related to competition is
demand for pho which determines the price and number of customers willing to purchase pho at that
price. One has to ask in relation to demand how many people in Charlottesville are willing to
purchase pho at $4, is that price optimal? Demand also has sub–factors which must be considered
such as are there substitutes for pho and what is the demand for those products (i.e. ramen
restaurants). Furthermore, in the context of markets, it is important to consider supply costs. Are the
supply markets for inputs volatile? Would I be able to handle a sharp increase in input prices and for
how long? While market factors are important there are also more general factors to consider. The
most important one to consider is the opportunity cost of this venture. Would time spent on this
venture earn more in another venture? Earn more in a salary job working for someone else as
opposed to running a

Strategies for translating and interpreting cultural words related to ecology and material culture
As you may know, translation and interpretation are a kind of activity which inevitably involves at
least two languages and two cultural traditions. As this statement implies, translators and
interpreters are permanently faced with the problem of how to treat the culture aspects implicit in a
source text and of finding the most appropriate technique of successfully conveying these aspects in
the target language. These problems may vary in scope depending on the cultural and linguistic gap
between the two (or more) languages concerned. It is possible said that cultural words is one of the

What is the original author trying to communicate in that particular context?" Sometimes the author
is concerned with the form of the THING or EVENT, but sometimes the function is more important.
There will also be times when the meaning of the word itself is not as important as the effect which
the author is trying to create. The translator will want to find a way to express the important
meaning components of the word and phrase; that is, the ones which are in focus in the context.
THING AND EVENT can be looked at from the perspective of the form of the THING or EVENT,
or from the perspective of its function. Look at the examples and their translation versions.

Paget's bone disease is characterized by an ↑ rate of bone turnover with both excessive resorption
and formation of bone, leading to a "mosaic" lamellar bone pattern on x–ray.
It is thought to be due to the effects of a latent viral infection in genetically susceptible individuals
and occur in roughly 4% of men and women > 40 years of age.
Most persons with Paget disease are asymptomatic. In these patients, the incidental finding of an
elevated serum alkaline phosphatase level or characteristic radiographic abnormality may lead to

There is no cure for Paget's disease but in the setting of severe pain, involvement of a vulnerable site
(femoral neck), or fracture, bisphosphonates and calcitonin can be used to slow osteoclastic bone
resorption. Some complications to note are high–output cardiac failure and osteosarcoma.
Primary hyperparathyroidism (Option E) is usually due to a solitary adenoma (~85% of cases) or
hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands but in 20% of patients may be associated with Paget's disease.
Patients are usually asymptomatic with elevated serum Calcium on routine tests. If they are
symptomatic it is usually related to hypercalcemia – polyuria, polydipsia, confusion etc. Lab Tests
will show: ↑Ca2+, ↑PTH (or inappropriately normal), ↓Phosphate, ↑ alk Phos.
Plasma cell disorders such as multiple myeloma and Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (Options B,
D) do not present with isolated alk phos. Multiple myeloma is characterized by a unique form of
progressive destructive bone disease that causes bone pain, fractures and hypercalcemia. Though
increased osteoclastic activity plays a key role, it is usually associated with impaired osteoblast
function leading to a reduction in the rate of new bone formation. Consequently, in contrast to other
types of osteolytic bone disease such as breast cancer, serum alkaline phosphatase activity is
decreased or within the normal

Through collectivism "A human being is born to be a member not only of a family, but a village
and, in a broader sense, a member of a country." (Nghia 2013:10). I was able to observe the
influence of Confucianism on Vietnamese culture as the manager described why he choose these
employees. He mentioned that the employees were "going through the same struggle that [he] went
through when [he] was young... [he] did not speak English very well...". This particular instance
allowed me to better understand ways in which unique Vietnamese values were able to be sustained
in Western Culture. I was surprised initially because I had thought that the restaurant had preserved
their culture physically through their architecture, cooking, and paintings. Instead, this represents an
aspect of Vietnamese culture that one cannot simply understand through physical observation, it
represents a deep rooted sense of integrity that is characteristic of Vietnamese culture. Through this
conversation, I began to better understand how immigrants of a minority population such as
Vietnam, were able to preserve their culture despite it being easier to simply succumb to values
popular in Western culture such as collectivism. Thus far, the concept of Confucianism has served as
an example of how aspects of Vietnamese culture are still present in the Vietnamese descendents

Objective
The purpose of this experiment was to separate proteins on the basis of their net charge at a
particular pH. In cation exchange chromatography positively charged molecules are attracted to a

5. Present an estimate of lysozyme's net charge at pH 11. The carb 1 fraction which is mainly
constituted of lysozyme is near pH 11 and the net charge of lysozyme is slightly negative.
6. The 200 mM (0.2 M) Na2 CO3 buffer contains much higher [ ] of Na+ than the 50 mM sodium

in Na+ will hinder the desired effect since positive Na+ will compete for binding sited on the

7. Student's attempt to make lysozyme bind tighter to CM Sephadex by starting pH lower than 7 is

able to bind proteins.
Conclusion
Ion exchange columns (beads) work by having a fixed charge on their surface which, before protein
added, is neutralized by soluble counterions (like chloride or sodium in our case) from buffers. As
previously learned, most proteins contain charged amino acids on their surfaces. Even if proteins
have an equal number of positively–charged and negatively–charged amino acids on the surface,
they 're never exactly evenly distributed which means that there are areas on the surface of the
protein which have an overall positive or negative charge to them.
In our experiment, positively–charged patches on the

The Pros And Cons Of Opioid-Based Treatment
But for most conditions, there is little evidence that opioid–based treatment is more effective than
other options (Pho 8). For back pain, migraines, and pain related to surgery, there are many
alternative treatments such as physical therapy or anti–inflammatory drugs ("Safer Alternatives" 3).
This is due to the fact that opioids are easier to prescribe or even because their patients demand
them ("Safer Alternatives" 3). Unfortunately, it is also because insurance plans don't always cover
alternative treatments that may help the patient ("Safer Alternatives" 4). This can lead to patients
getting addicted to opioids for something that could have been easily treated using an alternative
treatment. In some cases, the doctors may be susceptible to bribes. For example, six executives from

Emergency doctors can sometimes help perpetuate misuse of prescription opioids by refilling a
patient's prescription and providing an excess supply (Pho 4). With seventy–five percent of patients
who abuse prescription painkillers getting them from leftover prescriptions, it is definitely possible
that they are getting them from this excess supply provided by emergency doctors (Pho 4).
Although there are many things contributing to the expanding prescription drug abuse problem,
there are also many ways to fix it. To prevent people from obtaining these drugs from home

The Federal Trade Commission Actively Enforces Antitrust Law
The Federal Trade Commission actively enforces antitrust laws to organizations within the
healthcare field, including to Physician Hospital Organizations (PHOs). A PHO is a vehicle that
enables hospitals and physicians to work cooperatively toward accomplishing several objectives
(Physician, 2015). According to Susan Creighton (2004), competitive issues among PHOs can occur
when a PHO acts as a contracting arrangement for a network of healthcare providers. The network
can consist of groups of physicians, one hospital or several, and also some other entities that offer a
bundle of healthcare services to insurance companies and other payors (Creighton, 2004). The FTC
states that the core antitrust law principle is that it is illegal for competitors to agree on prices they
will charge, except where they come together and integrate in a legitimate joint venture that results
in efficiencies or other precompetitive benefits that outweigh the restriction of competition
(Creighton, 2004). Agreements that violate the antitrust law can be determined as per se illegal. Per
se illegal means that activities, such as horizontal price fixing, or group boycotts, have been
conclusively presumed to restrain competition unreasonably even without a study of the market that
they occurred in, or an analysis of their actual effect on competition, or their purpose (Burke, et al.,
2009). South Georgia Health Partners are an example of a PHO that was charged by the commission

The Longer Path Of Truth
Jeanne McDonald
PHIL 4380
9 December 2015
The Longer Path of Truth So often in life people take shortcuts as a means to obtaining the goals
they seek. Why work toward a Master's degree when a Bachelor's will suffice? Why ask questions
about a particular candidate in an political race when it is easier to choose a party to support? Surely
those in charge know more than we do, so why should we refute them? According to Plato, this
attitude exhibits a lack of education (educare), which leaves a person blind to the truth. The
Republic by Plato clearly defines the overall theme of education (educare) through paideia that is
crucial to the purification (katharsis) of the soul (psyche) by turning the soul (psychagoge) toward

Only by turning the soul toward the good (psychagoge) can the true and genuine path to knowledge
(episteme) be revealed. Those who rely on the physical (physis) will never recall (anamnesis) the
truth (aletheia) that is hidden on the soul (psyche), thus never educing the psyche's true identity.
Education (paideia) is the pathway for the soul (psyche) to come to knowledge (episteme) with itself
and turn (periagoge) toward the spectacle of truth. In order for anamnesis to take place all parts of
the soul─the appetitive (epithymia), the spirited (thymos), and the rational (nous)─must be unified
by justice (dike) (432a). However, dike is hidden by the narrow mindedness of those who have yet
to see the light. Almost within reach, "Justice is clearly somewhere hereabouts," dike requires the
detours of the longer path to make it accessible (432b). The lover of the spectacle of truth knows
justices is close by, "look sharp, and call me if you see it first," and feels a deep compulsion within
the psyche to search for justice (dike) through the longer path (432b). Those who follow down that
path are warned the journey will not be easy. The spectacle of truth, while precious and pure, can be
a cruel mistress, pushing the philosopher and his followers down roads less travelled in effort to
reveal the good.

essential to body's metabolism. When these vital tissue salts are in the correct ratio or concentration,
the body is healthy. As soon as the tissue salts ratio is disturbed, the proper cell functioning is
impaired, resulting in illness. We should get tissue salts through our diet but due to our modern
lifestyle, we lose every day minerals through stress, bad nutrition and environmental toxins.
Tissue salts are homeopathic dilutions of the mineral salts that our cells need to function properly.
Although they not classed as genuine homeopathic preparations, they are offer in low dilutions such
as 6X and

Lac Vien

  • 1. Lac Vien Lac Vien is a casual restaurant which serves basic things in Vietnamese cuisine with all sorts of the classic Pho, but there are a great variety of Asian foods in the menu for dine in or takeout. They opened in 2010, and now are running three locations in North York, Mississauga, and Scarborough, but I will deal with in this paper only North York branch near Yorkdale Mall. I have been going there for one year, foods are consistently good and the staff members are friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere with ample vehicle parking including convenient spaces reserved for disabled customers. The doors are wide enough for wheelchair access as well. It is spacious with plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for their service, servers need to continuously perform in a sophisticated way. You may get the Pho even before the appetizer arrives. Once it gets busy, food runners tend to rush, delivering as soon as one plate comes out of the kitchen. Also, they should try to serve everyone at a table all at once, especially main dish instead of one person getting one's food in advance while the rest of the people at the same table are waiting. Lastly, although they have an extensive menu selection, this place, in fact, is not specializing in vegetarian dishes in that Pho is made with either beef stock or chicken stock. Such use of raw vegetables is one of the great things about this restaurant that makes it so fresh, but, it does not necessarily mean it is a good place for vegetarians. Due to the fact that lots of their recipes leans toward using fish sauce, non–meat eaters may find there is a lack of choice over the hundred menus. By the time I was about to leave, the server had brought complimentary coffee for me, and this one was in the top three coffees in my life. I am not a big enough coffee connoisseur to say whether the coffee here is the best or not, but I did enjoy it. If you have a sweet tooth like me, make sure to get the famous Vietnamese Filtered Hot/Ice Coffee with Condensed Milk, simply, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rice in Asian culture is not just cereal, but it's part of their lives. It serves their meal almost everyday on their dining table. Oryza sativa is a species of monocot plants and known as Asian rice. The grain was spread started from South Asia to Southeast Asia and East Asia. South Asia South Asia is the region that the rice was originated from, although the historical record shows that China, in 2700 B.C., cultivated rice farm. Among countries in South Asia, India and Bangladesh are the largest rice production countries (Mohanty 2014). There is largest paddy field cultivation in India. Paddy field is a land filled with water where deep–water rice grows. In India, there are four kinds of rice are grown: dry or upland rice, rain–fed rice, irrigated rice, and deep–water rice. Indians like to long shaped rice, which is, dry and separate when it's cooked unlike East Asian countries. The most popular rice in India is 'basmati.' The best quality basmati comes from Dehra Dun located in Northern India. The lower grade rice, patna rice is produced in Bihar located Eastern India near Nepal. Indians in rural area produced red rice, which has thicker grain and rich nutrition. Plain boiled rice dish is served in South India and coastal villages. But who actually have tried the best Pho noodle soup? Probably not many people have tried a bowl of Pho noodle soup that taste so delicious, savory and unforgettable, unless they have a chance to travel to Vietnam where Pho is originated from. The PHO is defined as a legal entity formed by physicians and one or more hospital with the intention of negotiating contracts with payers and sharing in the financial rewards of controlling cost while delivering high–quality care. (Farlex, 2014). PHO is best described in three ways: 1. Starting with the influx of Vietnamese 'boat people' in the late 70s and early 80s, Vietnamese cuisine has slowly entered the American culinary imagination. What's not to love? For health–conscious Americans, there are scrumptious and delectable imperial rolls made of rice paper, rice vermicelli, carrot slices, tofu, basil leaves, and dollop of hoisin sauce. For meat lovers, the classic ban mi sandwich offers some gastronomic delights. The PHO operates in a very large section of south Georgia, including the cities of Valdosta, Tifton, Thomasville, Moultrie, and Waycross. The PHOs' physician members represent approximately 90 percent of all physicians practicing in the region. The PHO served as a vehicle through which competing hospitals and physicians could bargain collectively with health plans to obtain higher fees for themselves. The owner PHOs, member hospitals, and member physicians canceled contracts with payors and informed them that the PHO would be the sole entity through which they would enter into payor contracts. To contract with the PHO, payors allegedly have had to accept the fixed physician fee schedule and fixed discount of no more than 10 percent off hospital list prices. 1. • 17. Primary Care Gatekeeping Gatekeeping is a core concept in a primary health care (Grumbach et al.,1998). One of the several key aspects of gatekeeping is to guard patients that have direct access to specialised care (Bodenheimer & Grumbach,2009). General practitioners and other primary care professionals are signified to be gatekeepers (World Health Organisation,2000). Starfield.B (1992), Grumbach & Fry (1993) and Bodenheimer & Grumbach (2009) points out responsibilities of primary care professions (gatekeeper) first, they are to encounter the patient's health care (Starfield B.,1992) and proceed ambulatory care (Grumbach and Fry,1993). A gatekeeper is the decision maker for opening the gates to a further specialised field after proceeding fundamental primary care on a patient hence, patients are not entitled to direct their own specialists. Also, their purposes are not just to take care of the patient's wellbeing but giving extensive treatment if any is required (World Health Organisation, 2000) such as, minor illness which includes skin disorders, respiratory infection, headache and common flu, also includes preventive care; vaccinations, immunization and prenatal care are some of the common examples (Heinemann,1980). ... Essay on Vietnamese Food Different Types of Vietnamese Foods Tinh Nguyen Nufs 144 29 September 2014 Different Types of Vietnamese Foods It is amazing how diverse the various types of culture can be. From country to country, even down to the different states and regions within the same nation. Culture is said to have five basic characteristics; it is learned, it is has symbolic structure, it is shared, and it has the ability to adapt. It is a system consisting of variables that constitute a rational way of life (Vien, 2003). Climate plays a huge factor in foods that are popular amongst these areas. Each of these groups has its own distinctive culture and is associated with a specific environmental setting (Vien, 2003). Also, another factor to consider on the different types of food from each region is the influences from the neighboring countries. The first region is North Vietnam; Bac Bo. China influences many of Bac Bo's dishes. That's why many of the dishes tend to be more stir fried and include egg rolls, soy sauce and MSG (Destination, 2014). Their dishes tend to have delicate flavors. The weather in North Vietnam is a bit colder; therefore they cannot grow much herbs and spices (Destinations, 2014). Their dishes have less vegetables, fish and meats compare to other areas in Vietnam (Destinations, 2014). Since they don't cook with chilies, use black pepper and they use less sugar in their dishes. Physician-Hospital Organizations Case In early 1990's, physician–hospital organizations (PHO), legal in the United States, developed to provide attractive one–stop shopping for consumers, employers and managed care payors, by bonding the medical staff to the hospitals within an organization (Daniels 2011). As with the majority of healthcare decisions, legal issues surfaced among the formation of PHOs, forcing the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to closely examine multiple alliances and networks. This capital acquisition explanation argued that organizations were forced to resort to franchising because it allowed them to expand quickly without having to source scarce external financial resources or to relinquish control as in a joint venture or stock market operation (Caves & Murphy, 1976). Thus, over time, it was expected that franchisers would repurchase or take over the (best) franchised units in the system and eventually become fully company owned (Oxenfeldt & Kelly, 1969). However, research into this phenomenon has produced mixed results in the United States (for example, Hunt, 1973; Brickley & Dark, 1987; Lafontaine, 1992). Moreover, it has been found that where ownership redirection occurs it is ''more strategy driven than opportunistic'' (Dant, Kauffman, & Robicheaux, 1998, p. i). Indeed, Blair and Lafontaine (2005) comment that ''most franchise chains are hybrids: partially vertically integrated and partially franchised'' (p. 107). In contrast, while some large fast food chains (such as McDonald's) strategically ensure a mix of franchised and company–owned units, most franchise systems in Australia are almost fully franchised (Frazer, Weaven, & Wright, 2008). Hence, different franchising models are employed around the world, and there is no ''one–size–fits–all'' approach. Why The Business Will Be Successful Or Not? 2) If one is looking specifically at the market, there are a lot of factors to consider to determine whether the business will be successful or not. One of these factors is competition which is important because it will impact the amount of customers and could also pose a barrier to entry. For instance, if there is an established pho restaurant in Charlottesville one has to consider their market power and ability to outprice your restaurant or if they've been in the market for a while they may possess a competitive advantage over your future restaurant. Slightly related to competition is demand for pho which determines the price and number of customers willing to purchase pho at that price. One has to ask in relation to demand how many people in Charlottesville are willing to purchase pho at $4, is that price optimal? Demand also has sub–factors which must be considered such as are there substitutes for pho and what is the demand for those products (i.e. ramen restaurants). Furthermore, in the context of markets, it is important to consider supply costs. Are the supply markets for inputs volatile? Would I be able to handle a sharp increase in input prices and for how long? While market factors are important there are also more general factors to consider. It is thought to be due to the effects of a latent viral infection in genetically susceptible individuals and occur in roughly 4% of men and women > 40 years of age. Most persons with Paget disease are asymptomatic. In these patients, the incidental finding of an elevated serum alkaline phosphatase level or characteristic radiographic abnormality may lead to detection of the disease. However, when symptoms do occur, bone pain is the most common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no cure for Paget's disease but in the setting of severe pain, involvement of a vulnerable site (femoral neck), or fracture, bisphosphonates and calcitonin can be used to slow osteoclastic bone resorption. Some complications to note are high–output cardiac failure and osteosarcoma. Primary hyperparathyroidism (Option E) is usually due to a solitary adenoma (~85% of cases) or hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands but in 20% of patients may be associated with Paget's disease. Patients are usually asymptomatic with elevated serum Calcium on routine tests. If they are symptomatic it is usually related to hypercalcemia – polyuria, polydipsia, confusion etc. Lab Tests will show: ↑Ca2+, ↑PTH (or inappropriately normal), ↓Phosphate, ↑ alk Phos. Plasma cell disorders such as multiple myeloma and Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (Options B, D) do not present with isolated alk phos. Multiple myeloma is characterized by a unique form of progressive destructive bone disease that causes bone pain, fractures and hypercalcemia. Though increased osteoclastic activity plays a key role, it is usually associated with impaired osteoblast function leading to a reduction in the rate of new bone formation. Consequently, in contrast to other types of osteolytic bone disease such as breast cancer, serum alkaline phosphatase activity is decreased or within the normal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Choosing A Vietnamese Restaurant Known As Pho House For my project, I decided to choose a Vietnamese Restaurant known as Pho House that had a wide variety of traditional "Phở" or noodle soup that is unique to Vietnam. It is a small chain style restaurant that popular location for Vietnamese style food. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I immediately noticed various aspects of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian culture. For instance, the architecture of the restaurant involved thick wooden pillars, a wooden ceiling, a smooth wooden floor, and ornaments around the periphery of the restaurant. Also, I noticed various paintings that depicted some familiar aspects of Vietnam such as a painting of a traditional village high up in the mountains and a painting of an instructor who was teaching a ... Through collectivism "A human being is born to be a member not only of a family, but a village and, in a broader sense, a member of a country." (Nghia 2013:10). I was able to observe the influence of Confucianism on Vietnamese culture as the manager described why he choose these employees. He mentioned that the employees were "going through the same struggle that [he] went through when [he] was young... [he] did not speak English very well...". This particular instance allowed me to better understand ways in which unique Vietnamese values were able to be sustained in Western Culture. I was surprised initially because I had thought that the restaurant had preserved their culture physically through their architecture, cooking, and paintings. Instead, this represents an aspect of Vietnamese culture that one cannot simply understand through physical observation, it represents a deep rooted sense of integrity that is characteristic of Vietnamese culture. Through this conversation, I began to better understand how immigrants of a minority population such as Vietnam, were able to preserve their culture despite it being easier to simply succumb to values popular in Western culture such as collectivism. Thus far, the concept of Confucianism has served as an example of how aspects of Vietnamese culture are still present in the Vietnamese descendents working in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In cation exchange chromatography positively charged molecules are attracted to a negatively charged column. Conversely, in anion exchange chromatography, negatively charged molecules are attracted to a positively charged column. Experimental results could be monitored in a predictable way by controlling running pH, salt concentration, and by selecting the type of ion exchanger. Present an estimate of lysozyme's net charge at pH 11. The carb 1 fraction which is mainly constituted of lysozyme is near pH 11 and the net charge of lysozyme is slightly negative. 6. The 200 mM (0.2 M) Na2 CO3 buffer contains much higher [ ] of Na+ than the 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer. When changing from the phosphate buffer to the carbonate buffer, the difference in Na+ will hinder the desired effect since positive Na+ will compete for binding sited on the negative column. 7. Student's attempt to make lysozyme bind tighter to CM Sephadex by starting pH lower than 7 is unsuccessful because the charged groups on the column itself are also titratable groups with specific pKa values. At pH 3 the COO – group of CM column will become protonated and will no longer are able to bind proteins. Conclusion Ion exchange columns (beads) work by having a fixed charge on their surface which, before protein added, is neutralized by soluble counterions (like chloride or sodium in our case) from buffers. As previously learned, most proteins contain charged amino acids on their surfaces. Even if proteins have an equal number of positively–charged and negatively–charged amino acids on the surface, they 're never exactly evenly distributed which means that there are areas on the surface of the protein which have an overall positive or negative charge to them.

  • 37. The Pros And Cons Of Opioid-Based Treatment But for most conditions, there is little evidence that opioid–based treatment is more effective than other options (Pho 8). For back pain, migraines, and pain related to surgery, there are many alternative treatments such as physical therapy or anti–inflammatory drugs ("Safer Alternatives" 3). This is due to the fact that opioids are easier to prescribe or even because their patients demand them ("Safer Alternatives" 3). Unfortunately, it is also because insurance plans don't always cover alternative treatments that may help the patient ("Safer Alternatives" 4). This can lead to patients getting addicted to opioids for something that could have been easily treated using an alternative treatment. In some cases, the doctors may be susceptible to bribes. For example, six executives from Insys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emergency doctors can sometimes help perpetuate misuse of prescription opioids by refilling a patient's prescription and providing an excess supply (Pho 4). With seventy–five percent of patients who abuse prescription painkillers getting them from leftover prescriptions, it is definitely possible that they are getting them from this excess supply provided by emergency doctors (Pho 4). Although there are many things contributing to the expanding prescription drug abuse problem, there are also many ways to fix it. To prevent people from obtaining these drugs from home medicine cabinets, locking up the medicine cabinet or simply locking up prescription drugs elsewhere would prevent those searching for them from finding them. Another solution to this problem is to host Drug Take–Back events. In May 2011, the US Drug Enforcement Administration sponsored its second National Prescription Drug Take–Back event and collected more than 188 tons of unwanted or expired medications from 5,361 designated disposal sites around the country ("Is Substance" 1). • 38. The Federal Trade Commission Actively Enforces Antitrust Law The Federal Trade Commission actively enforces antitrust laws to organizations within the healthcare field, including to Physician Hospital Organizations (PHOs). A PHO is a vehicle that enables hospitals and physicians to work cooperatively toward accomplishing several objectives (Physician, 2015). According to Susan Creighton (2004), competitive issues among PHOs can occur when a PHO acts as a contracting arrangement for a network of healthcare providers. The network can consist of groups of physicians, one hospital or several, and also some other entities that offer a bundle of healthcare services to insurance companies and other payors (Creighton, 2004). The FTC states that the core antitrust law principle is that it is illegal for competitors to agree on prices they will charge, except where they come together and integrate in a legitimate joint venture that results in efficiencies or other precompetitive benefits that outweigh the restriction of competition (Creighton, 2004). Agreements that violate the antitrust law can be determined as per se illegal. Per se illegal means that activities, such as horizontal price fixing, or group boycotts, have been conclusively presumed to restrain competition unreasonably even without a study of the market that they occurred in, or an analysis of their actual effect on competition, or their purpose (Burke, et al., 2009). South Georgia Health Partners are an example of a PHO that was charged by the commission on a per se illegal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Longer Path Of Truth Jeanne McDonald PHIL 4380 9 December 2015 The Longer Path of Truth So often in life people take shortcuts as a means to obtaining the goals they seek. Why work toward a Master's degree when a Bachelor's will suffice? Why ask questions about a particular candidate in an political race when it is easier to choose a party to support? Surely those in charge know more than we do, so why should we refute them? According to Plato, this attitude exhibits a lack of education (educare), which leaves a person blind to the truth. The Republic by Plato clearly defines the overall theme of education (educare) through paideia that is crucial to the purification (katharsis) of the soul (psyche) by turning the soul (psychagoge) toward the good via "the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only by turning the soul toward the good (psychagoge) can the true and genuine path to knowledge (episteme) be revealed. Those who rely on the physical (physis) will never recall (anamnesis) the truth (aletheia) that is hidden on the soul (psyche), thus never educing the psyche's true identity. Education (paideia) is the pathway for the soul (psyche) to come to knowledge (episteme) with itself and turn (periagoge) toward the spectacle of truth. In order for anamnesis to take place all parts of the soul─the appetitive (epithymia), the spirited (thymos), and the rational (nous)─must be unified by justice (dike) (432a). However, dike is hidden by the narrow mindedness of those who have yet to see the light. Almost within reach, "Justice is clearly somewhere hereabouts," dike requires the detours of the longer path to make it accessible (432b). The lover of the spectacle of truth knows justices is close by, "look sharp, and call me if you see it first," and feels a deep compulsion within the psyche to search for justice (dike) through the longer path (432b). Those who follow down that path are warned the journey will not be easy. The spectacle of truth, while precious and pure, can be a cruel mistress, pushing the philosopher and his followers down roads less travelled in effort to reveal the good. ... Dr. Schuessler, a 19–th century German physician, developed the 12 tissue salts, also known as cell salts. As soon as the tissue salts ratio is disturbed, the proper cell functioning is impaired, resulting in illness. We should get tissue salts through our diet but due to our modern lifestyle, we lose every day minerals through stress, bad nutrition and environmental toxins.
