Food In Thai Food
For many people in Thailand today, food has become a very important aspect of any holiday
celebration and special occasions. In the American western cuisine today, a regular restaurant
quality meal consists of appetizers, followed by the main course, and ends with a serving of dessert,
where each person would order his or her own food. In Thailand it's the complete opposite to the
American cuisine where they would never have any structure in their meals like beginning with
appetizers and ending with dessert. In Thai cuisine the number of dishes is based on the number of
people there are around the table, so for example if there are ten people, then ten dishes would be
order. One interesting aspect about Thai cuisine is that everyone sitting around the table would
equally share their food, so that no one would get stuck with eating the same plate of food, everyone
gets the opportunity to enjoy the unique flavors of all the different dishes. The main reason that the
Thais share their food is because they believe that it is bad luck for them to eat alone and they see
that each meal is a big celebration of social and friendly interactions.
When the Thais finished eating all of their food, they would pack up all of the leftover foods from
the meal and store it in the refrigerator to eat the next day. The people of Thailand have a strong
belief that throwing away food is a very sinful thing to do since it will dishonor and anger the Thai
god causing famine and starvation among

Cooking Is The Art And Science Of Cooking
Introduction:–
"Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat". It includes
full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats,
fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning
meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast
killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary
raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique
until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their
food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild
grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary
advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with
the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking
techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and
oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Greece relies heavily on fish and sea food. Meat plays an important role as it is often used as an

convinced him to come out of retirement and come back to working in the kitchen.
Chan Yan–Tak began working in kitchens at the age of either 13 or 14 at the Dai Sam Yuen
restaurant. He had no intentions of becoming a chef and only took up the job because his family was
in need of the money. Because of his young age he was forbidden to use a knife and was used for
tasks such as plucking chickens and washing vegetables. In truth his career as a chef only started in
the 1970s when he worked in a number of restaurants such as Fook Lam Moon. In 1984 he became

Regional variations tend to show a mutual relationship to neighbouring. Northern Thai cuisine

Identity Essay: My Cultural Identity
I've never really questioned my cultural identity, actually nobody even asked me what my cultural
identity was. I guess they just thought I was a regular black girl that likes watermelon and fried
chicken. Now don't get me wrong mama loves her some fried chicken, but I don't really care for
watermelon. Don't take that as a shock, not all black people like watermelon. Truth of the matter is
that I'm really just a hot chip, school loving, catholic, hair braiding, soul–food eating, outgoing,
loud–mouth, overachieving, African–American girl. Most people don't care about what your cultural
identity is they just look at you and just assume that by the color of your skin you're supposed to act
a certain way. For instance, All Asians are supposed to be really good in math. ... Show more content

For our rice and gravy we add cornstarch to make the gravy thicker. Food is a big part of my cultural
identity. Simply because I love food. My favorite thing to eat is Chinese food, not the fake stuff that
they lie and try to tell us it is. I'm talking about real Chinese/ Asian food. On my mom's side my
Aunt cooks a mean chow mein. It's finger lickin good. Also, I love a good spicy chicken curry. A
curry to me is like rice and gravy but way more thicker. Even though I'm african–american I still
like foods from other cultures. Who I identify as is a black girl, a black girl headstrong and driven to
be successful. There's no other way to be in my house. All my parents talk about is grades and
school. They always talk about how they want me to be great and to get away from lafayette. It's
actually a lot of pressure trying to live up to their standards because I really don't want to disappoint
them. My morals are to go to law school, make my parents proud, graduate with honors, and be
successful. That's why I work hard in school and try to make good grades. I know if I don't I will be

Short Story About The Movie ' The Blob Of Blue Ink '
I stayed in my bed, still in tears, imagining all of the stuff I would have done if I could just stay in
California. I heard Mom talking about what she's going to do in Costa Rica, what kind of research
she's going to do, blah blah blah. Then I heard something about funding two plane tickets. I looked
up for a minute, then I just put my head back down cause I was too lazy to even think about it. After
about three minutes, I got up and grabbed the index card with the short story I wrote. The blob of
blue ink, I already knew what was behind it. Opportunity. Opportunity, for me? Or for Mom? I
decided to grab the suitcase. I hastily unlocked the straps, and opened it. All I found were clothes
and a camera. This was a waste of my time, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tuesday came around. On Sunday and Monday, I told all of my friends that I can't do anything with
them over the next two months because I was going to Costa Rica. They all had the same reaction I
had when I saw the plane tickets. Jaws dropped, eyes wide, and hands on their heads. Even though
we had an international airport in San Diego, we had to go to Los Angeles because that's the densest
in terms of the people that work with Mom. I dreaded long car rides. Mom said that it would be
about forty–five minutes to get there, but as always, California traffic. I had butterflies in my
stomach when I heard about the flight, just not the car ride. "So Izzy, what do you want to do once
we get there?" Mom asked. "Maybe we could go sightseeing or ziplining through the woods!" I
exclaimed. Just from that alone, my face lit up even more and a big smile was on my face. Soon
after that though, I felt like a kid that was grounded. I think my excitement had overridden my
boredom because my eyes would close, then a bolt of energy, or excitement, surged through my
body, keeping me awake. The honks of the cars kept me awake as well. I love California for the
waves and the beaches, but the traffic and the busy streets are what get me. After the long hour, we
finally found a spot where we can park our rental. Then, we checked in through security and
boarded the plane. The service people were one of the nicest people in the world. Since I

Generally Chinese curries are severed over rice. Chinese curry is tends to be watery unlike other
Asian curries. It is believed that curry was introduced to China from Singapore or Malaysia. China's
most popular curry dish is curry noodles or "curry mee."
What may be surprised to know is that Japanese Curry is one of the most popular dishes in Japan.
Curry was introduced to Japan by the British, around 1868, after Japan ended its policy of isolation.
Japan's Army and Navy can be contributed to spreading the popularity of curry. The army and navy
adopted it extensively as convenient field and naval canteen cooking. The Japan Maritime Self–
Defense Force traditionally has curry every Friday for lunch. Ships may have their own unique
recipe, but Kare–Raisu is a typical "canteen" style dish that would be served and is made up of a
brown curry sauce with raisins, generally served with rice. Curry seasoning is commonly sold in the
form of a condensed brick that dissolves into the mixture of meat and vegetables. This form of curry
can be found in many U.S. grocery stores. The standard curry found in Japan contains onions,
carrots, potatoes and a meat that is cooked in a large pot. Japanese curry is more of a stew–like
consistency. Pork and beef are the most popular meats in curry followed by Chicken. In northern
and Eastern Japan you tend to see more pork based curry. Beef is more common in western Japan.

Speech On Indian Food
Once considered the shining jewel in the British Empire's crown, India can today be easily deemed
as the huge, 60–carat diamond in the World's flavored cuisine ring . Indian food is all about variety
and is an example of ancient tradition. The cuisine of the country is characterized by elaborate
cooking techniques and the use of expensive ingredients.
Indian cuisine was introduced to a splendid assortment during the colonial period. The colonial
period introduced European cooking styles to India exhibiting British Influence on Indian Food. In
that period, flexibility and diversity was introduced to the cuisine of India. The history of Indian
food tells us that during the reign of the British Empire in India (the British Raj), the local cuisine
was considered by the Europeans closely to what Gods taught of ambrosia: a delightful, heavenly
and delicate dish. Many times, we ask how the Indian cuisine grew to be so popular, so diverse and
so delightful. In truth, the question is quite dim...from a population of one billion people, is it really

find mostly anywhere else in the World.
The majority of Indian appetizers and snacks are based on potatoes, combined with different spices.
The Alu Ki Tikki for example, which is one of the oldest snacks recorded by the history of Indian

this land had a curse, hidden inside one of the many rooms of the place. A mirror, as old as the

Persuasive Essay On Tally Thai
Tally Thai is located at the heart of Pensacola street and will satisfy any person who craves Thai
food in the comfort of their city. Along with the fresh seafood for sushi, Tally Thai has a vest menu
of items, with everything from tasty noodles to miso soup and ginger salad. As an individual who
barely eats sushi, or food from Thailand in general, my roommates recommended that we eat at
Tally Thai for this assignment. The menu, like most traditional places, is organized to easily
understand. Beginning with traditional appetizers, this four page menu continues with soups, salads,
then entrees. To my surprise, the third page listed Thai appetizers, entrees, and sushi rolls, which I
found to be more conventional to culture in Thailand; with this, the menu ended on desserts and
drinks, as most restaurants do. There is no question that the menu is, without a doubt, not authentic–
instead it is Americanized. If it were traditional, the rolls, especially, would not have been in english.
With basic names such as 'Philadelphia Roll' and 'Gator Roll', it is clear to see the menu works with
the environment around it; being in a college town, most students would not be able to understand
names of entrees in a different language. Exemplarily, dishes such as the curry duck would be called
"แกงเป็ด" in this culture. Not Americanizing this menu would make it impossible for individuals to
order. A few entrees on the menu do, however, represent Thai culture. Meals such as the masamun

Mary's Secret Garden In Downtown Ventura
Mary's Secret Garden is located in Downtown Ventura, across from a park and easily accessible
from the 101 Freeway. This restaurant is relatively small and has about six or seven tables, so it is a
good idea to get a reservation if you plan to go at a popular time. It is closed on Sunday and Monday
and is open the other days of the week. The restaurant is located on a narrow street which doesn't
provide much parking, but it's only a block away from Downtown Ventura's main parking structure,
which includes several floors of free parking space. Mary's Secret Garden offers several appetizers.
A popular appetizer is the spring rolls. The spring rolls are wrapped in rice paper, and include a mix

But before you strike out to hunt down any manure, it would be a good idea to actually know what
you are looking for, wouldn't it? There are many types of mature out there in that big old world.
There is the pure manure, you know, the manure that is just manure and nothing else. There is also
the not so pure manure, which is the manure that has the animal's bedding that supplied the manure.
While either type of manure will do a garden good, the best type is the one with the bedding mixed
into it because it will contain more of the necessary nutrients and soil amendments that, when added
to the garden spot, will be beneficial. Unfortunately, the manure that has bedding in it is not the
manure that is sold in bags at stores most of the time. This type of manure will have to come directly
from the source. So this is where the hunting of the elusive manure for your garden will actually
begin. A good place to start looking for "home–grown" manure is the local feed store. The
customers that feed stores have are usually the same ones who will have the manure you are looking
for. Feed store customers are usually those folks who raise cattle, horses, dogs, hogs, sheep,
chickens, goats and other animals. All of these animals produce manure and quite often the people
who raise these animals will have pens that the animals are kept in, thus leading to manure that has
to go somewhere. Usually the animal owners will gladly part with this manure, but you may have to
be willing and ready to collect it yourself. That means bring a shovel and dig in. Other places that
can often help with the manure hunt are veterinarian clinics that specialize in large animals, police
departments that have mounted officers, colleges and universities that have veterinary programs or
agriculture programs and even pet stores may be able to help. But if you get your manure from a pet
store, try not

Anim's Homemade Chicken Curry Dishes

what you put in your food, and knowing how fresh the ingredients are. By cooking something fresh
and delicious at the comfort of your very own kitchen, it just makes eating that much more
enjoyable.
The ingredients are simple. The flavors are exquisite. The best part is, you save money, and you do
not even have to be a chef to make a dish as simple as this curry dish. Furthermore, I have included
the video on how Anim's Homemade Chicken Curry dish was made below. Please take a moment to
watch the video if you have not seen it yet.
As far as the curry goes, I have always been a fan. Growing up in an Asian household with eight
other siblings, curry was a no–brainer. You can make as much, or as little as you want. The good
thing is, it can all be made in the same pot one step at a time. When you have a family as big as
mine, one pot is not going to feed the entire family. Although, my mom always seems to manage it
somehow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay : Thailand, Cambodia, And Malaysia
Thailand, situated in southeast Asia just north of the equator, is bordered by Myanmar, Laos,
Cambodia, and Malaysia. The country has ample coastline on both sides of its southern isthmus,
granting access to the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. It is mountainous and cooler in the north,
giving way to a large, humid, river basin providing abundant agricultural opportunities in the central
plains, and jungle further to the south (find a way to cite this). Despite its near–equatorial location,
the variation in geography encourages the cuisine to change as the latitude shifts. There is a culinary

During the 10th century, when the first waves of T'ai migrated south from the Yunnan region of
China to the Chao Phraya basin, a meal "might have consisted of a pile of steamed sticky, or
glutinous, rice and a pungent paste made of soy beans, salt, and sour leaves." Thompson page 6,7 By
the middle of the 13th century, experts hypothesize that glutinous rice was still the foundation of the
meal though more side dishes were most likely present. Thompson 10 As society progressed and the
Ayuthyia kingdom became established in the 1300s, a palace cuisine developed, and more elaborate
preparations and feasts were served Thompson 10,11. A typical palace meal would still be rice
based, but the grain would be "served with several exquisite accompanying dishes. An elegant curry,
a pungent relish, a soothing soup, and a salad would be eaten." (thompson 54) Note here the
mention of curry as a component of palace cuisine; here lies an early instance of globalization of
Thai cuisine. The technique and methods for curries were introduced by the Khmer via their contact
with Indians. (sunanta p2) The dish was adapted from foreigners rather than developed from local
foundations. Interestingly, the spicy nature of the dish was facilitated by peppercorns and rhizomes,
as the chili was not introduced until after Portuguese mariners arrived in the 1500s; the earliest
recorded Thai curry is a paste of

one of the oldest civilizations dating back 4,500 years. The population is made up of numerous

once occupied India; food is no exception. Indian cuisine is known for its diverse and wide ranging
assortment of dishes as well as its extensive variety of herbs and especially spices (Live Science,

Our server, the same man who seated us, brought us water and directed us toward the buffet. The
first thing I noticed when approaching the buffet was the smell. There were so many different spices
and food smells lingering in the air it was unbelievably appetizing. The buffet was rather extensive,
with about 20 different dish options to choose from including naan and dessert. I did not hesitate. I
took a little bit of everything until my plate was full. I then proceeded to cover the plate with several
pieces of garlic naan. The food was simply delicious. It ranged from every level of spiciness without
being so spicy that it killed the taste. My favorite dishes were a spiced zucchini dish and the Aloo

extraordinary; soft and crispy with slivered green onion and pureed garlic spread on top. We also
ordered chai which was delicious and had the right amount of warmth and caffeine for the afternoon.

Analysis Of The Movie ' The Night '
Richards briefcase it showed the audience that Paul was showing his anger due to the fact he had
feeling for Anne. 9. There were a couple unique sound effects in the play. The sound effects was the
pounding on the door, the noise of the door across the hall closing, the door knob when it was being
unscrewed from the door, a baby crying, and the jiggle of a dogs collar. The sound cues were
executed at the right moments in the play. For example, when the lady from 4a came into 4b's
apartment to talk to Paul and Anne in the distance you could hear a jiggle that sounded like a dogs
collar was being shook to represent the dog was in the hall. Another example is when the lady from
4a left 4b's apartment you could hear when the lady walked into her apartment by the sound of the
door closing. In the beginning of the play Larry, the expectant father and the pregnant woman left

Both Sides of the Coin of Indian Immigration to America
1. Immigration
Immigration is what carves the picture of the modern world. Travelling from one country to other
for trading had been popular since historic times. Immigration means the one way flow of the
population to a specific place or country. People move out of the native country or state for various
reasons. Better employment opportunities and a desire for a better living and future are the main
driving forces. Though, in present times there are several other reasons like immigrating for
education and/ or seeking political asylum in neutral countries etc.
Personally, my family members (including the ancestors) have never migrated to any place other
than India. My parents, grand–parents, their parents and so on, have all been living in India since
their birth. Although of the family tree situated in India, some far away individual relatives have
migrated to different countries like USA and UK, but just for work or education; without any
settlement plans.
As said earlier, immigration forms the present face of the world. America is nothing more than
unison of immigrants coming from different parts of the world. Even, the Aryans, who are the
predecessors of north Indians, are believed to have migrated from Middle Asia to India. Immigration
acts in both directions of development, the positive as well as negative. On one hand, it opens the
way for talented and professional work force from the other lands. But it also enhances the rate of
competition and struggle for

I would definitely feel what Hansen refers to a cultural "bump" a slight uneasiness in the unfamiliar
if I were to visit India (Lynch, 2011). Indian culture is deeply spiritual, but it is also complex made
up of mystic, mythology and superstitions. (ISHA, 2014). Unlike, the American culture, which if
religious, is mostly comprised of Monotheistic religions (one god). Another, vastly different practice
is the Caste system in India, which you're socioeconomic and social status are determined by your
birthright. Meaning, that you can never climb the social class ladder, your future and success are
predetermined. So different from the US, where here you personally in charge of your future success
and could be born into a low socio economic family and still rise above your circumstances through
hard work and education. Money, is America's social class system regulator, and the more you have,
the more your status, power and influence increases. Here, is another unusual fact I learned from a
previous anthropology class, India is the only culture to recognize a 3rd gender possibility, which
are called Hijras (Nanda, 1999). While, they are not always socially accepted, they are tolerated, and
justified through mythology and serve a place within society, all be it, not a high one (Nanda, 1999).

What Is The Forced Nature Of Assimilation
In her short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri depicts various scenarios of
Indian immigrants moving to and living in the United States. A particularly salient theme discussed
throughout is the issue of assimilation vs. integration. Though the terms are often considered
interchangeable, in this book assimilation argues for adoption of American culture. Conversely,
integration advocates for the coexistence of foreign and American customs and allows immigrants to
establish a sense of home away from their original countries. The story entitled, "The Third and
Final Continent" specifically recounts a young Indian man's experience trying to establish himself in
Cambridge, Massachusetts after living in London. Prior to his immigration, the narrator had his
marriage arranged by his family in Calcutta, and much of the story illustrates the narrator's
apprehension for his wife, Mala's arrival from India. Recognizing that food is a significant aspect of
most cultures, Lahiri uses it as a motif to indicate the transformation of the narrator's cultural status
in the United States. Through food, she ultimately asserts the possibility of positive integration,
rather than just assimilation, into American society.
Lahiri demonstrates the forced nature of assimilation through the narrator's relationship with
American food. When the narrator first arrives in Cambridge and checks in at the YMCA, he notices

  • 5. Food In Thai Food For many people in Thailand today, food has become a very important aspect of any holiday celebration and special occasions. In the American western cuisine today, a regular restaurant quality meal consists of appetizers, followed by the main course, and ends with a serving of dessert, where each person would order his or her own food. In Thailand it's the complete opposite to the American cuisine where they would never have any structure in their meals like beginning with appetizers and ending with dessert. In Thai cuisine the number of dishes is based on the number of people there are around the table, so for example if there are ten people, then ten dishes would be order. One interesting aspect about Thai cuisine is that everyone sitting around the table would equally share their food, so that no one would get stuck with eating the same plate of food, everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy the unique flavors of all the different dishes. The main reason that the Thais share their food is because they believe that it is bad luck for them to eat alone and they see that each meal is a big celebration of social and friendly interactions. When the Thais finished eating all of their food, they would pack up all of the leftover foods from the meal and store it in the refrigerator to eat the next day. The people of Thailand have a strong belief that throwing away food is a very sinful thing to do since it will dishonor and anger the Thai god causing famine and starvation among ... It includes full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Short Story About The Movie ' The Blob Of Blue Ink ' I stayed in my bed, still in tears, imagining all of the stuff I would have done if I could just stay in California. I heard Mom talking about what she's going to do in Costa Rica, what kind of research she's going to do, blah blah blah. Then I heard something about funding two plane tickets. I looked up for a minute, then I just put my head back down cause I was too lazy to even think about it. After about three minutes, I got up and grabbed the index card with the short story I wrote. The blob of blue ink, I already knew what was behind it. Opportunity. Opportunity, for me? Or for Mom? I decided to grab the suitcase. I hastily unlocked the straps, and opened it. On Sunday and Monday, I told all of my friends that I can't do anything with them over the next two months because I was going to Costa Rica. They all had the same reaction I had when I saw the plane tickets. Jaws dropped, eyes wide, and hands on their heads. Even though we had an international airport in San Diego, we had to go to Los Angeles because that's the densest in terms of the people that work with Mom. I dreaded long car rides. Mom said that it would be about forty–five minutes to get there, but as always, California traffic. I had butterflies in my stomach when I heard about the flight, just not the car ride. "So Izzy, what do you want to do once we get there?" Mom asked. "Maybe we could go sightseeing or ziplining through the woods!" I exclaimed. Just from that alone, my face lit up even more and a big smile was on my face. Soon after that though, I felt like a kid that was grounded. I think my excitement had overridden my boredom because my eyes would close, then a bolt of energy, or excitement, surged through my body, keeping me awake. The honks of the cars kept me awake as well. I love California for the waves and the beaches, but the traffic and the busy streets are what get me. After the long hour, we finally found a spot where we can park our rental. Then, we checked in through security and boarded the plane. The service people were one of the nicest people in the world. In that period, flexibility and diversity was introduced to the cuisine of India. Along with the fresh seafood for sushi, Tally Thai has a vest menu of items, with everything from tasty noodles to miso soup and ginger salad. As an individual who barely eats sushi, or food from Thailand in general, my roommates recommended that we eat at Tally Thai for this assignment. The menu, like most traditional places, is organized to easily understand. Beginning with traditional appetizers, this four page menu continues with soups, salads, then entrees. To my surprise, the third page listed Thai appetizers, entrees, and sushi rolls, which I found to be more conventional to culture in Thailand; with this, the menu ended on desserts and drinks, as most restaurants do. There is no question that the menu is, without a doubt, not authentic– instead it is Americanized. If it were traditional, the rolls, especially, would not have been in english. With basic names such as 'Philadelphia Roll' and 'Gator Roll', it is clear to see the menu works with the environment around it; being in a college town, most students would not be able to understand names of entrees in a different language. Exemplarily, dishes such as the curry duck would be called "แกงเป็ด" in this culture. Not Americanizing this menu would make it impossible for individuals to order. But before you strike out to hunt down any manure, it would be a good idea to actually know what you are looking for, wouldn't it? There are many types of mature out there in that big old world. There is the pure manure, you know, the manure that is just manure and nothing else. There is also the not so pure manure, which is the manure that has the animal's bedding that supplied the manure. While either type of manure will do a garden good, the best type is the one with the bedding mixed into it because it will contain more of the necessary nutrients and soil amendments that, when added to the garden spot, will be beneficial. Unfortunately, the manure that has bedding in it is not the manure that is sold in bags at stores most of the time. This type of manure will have to come directly from the source. So this is where the hunting of the elusive manure for your garden will actually begin. A good place to start looking for "home–grown" manure is the local feed store. The customers that feed stores have are usually the same ones who will have the manure you are looking for. Feed store customers are usually those folks who raise cattle, horses, dogs, hogs, sheep, chickens, goats and other animals. All of these animals produce manure and quite often the people who raise these animals will have pens that the animals are kept in, thus leading to manure that has to go somewhere. Usually the animal owners will gladly part with this manure, but you may have to be willing and ready to collect it yourself. That means bring a shovel and dig in. Other places that can often help with the manure hunt are veterinarian clinics that specialize in large animals, police departments that have mounted officers, colleges and universities that have veterinary programs or agriculture programs and even pet stores may be able to help. One was a large Indian family seated at a long row of tables down the center of the restaurant and the other was a table of Caucasian women in the booth behind ours. Our server, the same man who seated us, brought us water and directed us toward the buffet. The first thing I noticed when approaching the buffet was the smell. There were so many different spices and food smells lingering in the air it was unbelievably appetizing. The buffet was rather extensive, with about 20 different dish options to choose from including naan and dessert. I did not hesitate. I took a little bit of everything until my plate was full. I then proceeded to cover the plate with several pieces of garlic naan. The food was simply delicious. It ranged from every level of spiciness without being so spicy that it killed the taste. My favorite dishes were a spiced zucchini dish and the Aloo Mater which is a potato and green pea dish with a perfect blend of Indian spices. Also, the naan was extraordinary; soft and crispy with slivered green onion and pureed garlic spread on top. We also ordered chai which was delicious and had the right amount of warmth and caffeine for the afternoon. It complimented the Kheer (an Indian style rice pudding) perfectly. The food was an overall amazing experience. Some of the best food I have ever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were a couple unique sound effects in the play. The sound effects was the pounding on the door, the noise of the door across the hall closing, the door knob when it was being unscrewed from the door, a baby crying, and the jiggle of a dogs collar. The sound cues were executed at the right moments in the play. For example, when the lady from 4a came into 4b's apartment to talk to Paul and Anne in the distance you could hear a jiggle that sounded like a dogs collar was being shook to represent the dog was in the hall. Another example is when the lady from 4a left 4b's apartment you could hear when the lady walked into her apartment by the sound of the door closing. In the beginning of the play Larry, the expectant father and the pregnant woman left the room the baby started crying as a clue to the parents they forgot the baby. 10. My favorite scene was when Paul, Janet, Richard, and Anne were in the all apartment together. I was wondering what will happen next, like will Paul and Anne confess to Richard and Janet they were trapped in the apartment together and that they kissed. I thought it was ironic that Richard and Janet knew each other from childhood. Travelling from one country to other for trading had been popular since historic times. Immigration means the one way flow of the population to a specific place or country. People move out of the native country or state for various reasons. Better employment opportunities and a desire for a better living and future are the main driving forces. Though, in present times there are several other reasons like immigrating for education and/ or seeking political asylum in neutral countries etc. Personally, my family members (including the ancestors) have never migrated to any place other than India. My parents, grand–parents, their parents and so on, have all been living in India since their birth. Although of the family tree situated in India, some far away individual relatives have migrated to different countries like USA and UK, but just for work or education; without any settlement plans. As said earlier, immigration forms the present face of the world. America is nothing more than unison of immigrants coming from different parts of the world. Even, the Aryans, who are the predecessors of north Indians, are believed to have migrated from Middle Asia to India. Immigration acts in both directions of development, the positive as well as negative. On one hand, it opens the way for talented and professional work force from the other lands. But it also enhances the rate of competition and struggle for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Forced Nature Of Assimilation In her short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri depicts various scenarios of Indian immigrants moving to and living in the United States. A particularly salient theme discussed throughout is the issue of assimilation vs. integration. Though the terms are often considered interchangeable, in this book assimilation argues for adoption of American culture. Conversely, integration advocates for the coexistence of foreign and American customs and allows immigrants to establish a sense of home away from their original countries. The story entitled, "The Third and Final Continent" specifically recounts a young Indian man's experience trying to establish himself in Cambridge, Massachusetts after living in London. Prior to his immigration, the narrator had his marriage arranged by his family in Calcutta, and much of the story illustrates the narrator's apprehension for his wife, Mala's arrival from India. Recognizing that food is a significant aspect of most cultures, Lahiri uses it as a motif to indicate the transformation of the narrator's cultural status in the United States. Through food, she ultimately asserts the possibility of positive integration, rather than just assimilation, into American society. Lahiri demonstrates the forced nature of assimilation through the narrator's relationship with American food. When the narrator first arrives in Cambridge and checks in at the YMCA, he notices a ...
