Here is my Se7en textual analysis, it contains information on the opening title, the typography, why the opening title is effective and also the order of the titles.

2. Opening title
 In the opening title of se7en it shows
Morgan Freeman in his home making a
beverage in the morning. The camera is
stationary and placed what seems to be on
another counter opposite him. This is used
to show the surroundings of the character,
in this case his home is mainly white and
looks modern, this could represent that the
character is wealthy yet alone in a decent
sized apartment.
 This will give the viewer an unclear opinion
on the start of the film because there isn’t
much background making it difficult to sum
up what is happening and why.

3. Typography
 The text on the opening to Se7en is
a similar font and size, each name
mentioned is in a different font
compared to the role that they have
played in the film, this is also kept
consistent.
 This will make the editing look
better and more professional to the
viewer so there will be a better
impression towards the company
itself from the viewer.

4. Why is it an effective opening
 This is an effective opening because it doesn’t give much
information to the viewers as it starts with a scene in which
Morgan Freeman is alone and no words are said for the first 30
seconds or so.
 This may interest the viewer because they do not know much
about the film so far therefore could intrigue the viewer to
carry on watching the rest of the film seeing as though they
know very little at the moment.
 After the opening and the titles come in the setting of the
presentation which is mysterious and unsettling, it may put the
viewer in a mood where the producers want them to be in so it
makes their experience better.

5. Order of titles: whose name comes up
first? What does that show us?
 One of the first names that comes up is David Fincher this shows that this
person has played a big role in the making of the film. It also shows that this
is one of the first names seen because he may have done numerous roles in
the film not just having one specific role.
 Viewers may also know this person from previous films therefore some
viewers may already know what to expect where as others will not. This could
influence some ratings made by viewers potentially being positively biased
towards the film or the creators of the film.
