Title research
1. In this you can see the company who distributes the film,
in this case it’s Fox Searchlight Pictures. This is normally at
the start of every film because the company want to be
recognised for allowing the film to be released. Normally
the production company and the distributing company
are different companies. The font looks like it’s been
drawn by a young child, this could hint to the
demographic as being aimed at young teenagers . The
closest I could find the actual font is ‘Pointy’ on
dafonts.com.
This scene shows the 2 production companies who
made the film. This is typically the second opening
title coming after the distributors. The distributors
and producers are at the start of the film because
they’re very important when making a film. The
production company gives the film a studio to work
in and helps with costumes, props and locations and
the distributors set the release date and they check
over the film to see if it’s ready to be released. The
font and the colour is the same as the previous
scene.
This scene implies that the film was directed by
Jason Reitman as it says “ A Jason Reitman Film”
This allows the audience to recognised the director
straight away. This can help give away the narrative
as some directors have certain ways of doing
particular conventions . The Font is the same but
the colour has changed to green. This appears on
screen as all jumbled up and then gets made to
make sense. This could be a game for small children
for them to learn words. This fits with the font.
2. In this scene we see the title of the film for
the first time. This comes after the distributor
, producer and director. It tells us the name of
the film we’re watching. The font Is larger
than any other scene so far suggesting it’s the
most important aspect of the opening scene.
The ‘JUNO’ also changes colours unlike any
other title in this opening sequence.
This is the start of the actors. This
tells you what actors are I the film.
By having “Ellen Page” first suggests
that her character is the most
important and is Juno as she’s the
only person we’ve seen in the
entire opening sequence so far. I
think Ellen Page and Michael Cera
have their names together are
because Michael's character got
Ellen's pregnant so their name’s
together.
This next scene shows the actor
“Michael Cera” suggesting he’s
also important as he’s the lead
role played by Ellen Page. There
is a guitar next to his name which
could indicate something about
his character.
3. This is a female actor in films
such as ‘13 going on 30,’
‘Daredevil’ and ‘ Pearl
Harbour.’ Jennifer Garner and
Jason Bateman appear
together because they are
planned to adopt Juno’s baby
suggesting they love each
other.
This also show another
male actor who know for
roles in ‘Hancock,’ ‘The
Kingdom’ and ‘The Ex.’
Another female actor who portrayed
roles in ‘American Beauty,’ ‘Finding
Nemo’ and ‘Over the hedge.’ Allison
Jannet and J.K Simmons appear
together because they're married
and are Juno’s parents.
4. Another well known male actor
from films such as ‘Spider-man,
Spider-man 2 and Spiderman 3’,
and was in the TV series ‘Oz.’
This actor isn’t as well known but
has bee in a few big films such as
‘Dredd,’ ‘No strings attached’ and
‘United 93.’ By having well known
actors in films means the film can
get more recognition from critics
and the media meaning perhaps
more money.
This shows the people who cast
the film meaning they are
responsible for brining a cast
together. This is a huge role
because if the actors they decide
to have are poor or don’t fit the
film, the film could be a failure.
5. The costume designer designs the
costumes for every role that's being
played. This has a huge impact on
the demographic as different
clothing is appropriate for different
ages. It also gives a lot of
information on the person such as
financial state, upbringing and
his/hers style of clothing.
Music also has a huge impact on the film
and target audience, the music of the film
catches people and the style of music
engages the audience. They have to pick
the correct music that fits the situation.
The music tends t fit the location of the
film. The song that’s being played is a folk
song called ‘All I want is you.’ It has a
simple beat and lyrics suggesting for
younger people that it’s easy to
understand. It’s also gentle and easy.
The music supervisor puts the music
in the correct position of the film and
makes it fit the scene happening. This
means the sound and music makes
sense and isn’t just added at random.
6. This scene shows the co-
producers . This is basically a
producer but only does a few
sections of the film. This takes
pressure off the main producer
Jason Reitman and shares part of
it with 3 other producers.
This shows the film editor. This
role is up with the most
important as you edit the film.
This includes dialogue scenes,
composing shots into a smooth
and seamless shot and put parts
of the film together.
The production designer designs the
location, props, lighting and graphics
for the film, just like the other roles
in the opening sequence, this role
has a huge effect on the final version
of the film.
7. This person is the director of cameras and
responsible for putting the cameras in the
correct place and the tactical decisions for the
camera for example what lens should be used
and if it’s a static or dynamic shot.
Executive producers are producers
who look over the whole film
creation, this can be things such as
the legal issues and contributing to
the overall budget of the film. They
tend to work for a company but
some are independent on
themselves .
These are people who made the film .
The director told them what he wanted
to have been made and they would go
and do it. They would work very closely
with the director in order to get
everything exact.
8. The penultimate scene is who the
film is written by, this is important
because all the scripts and screen
directions were all written by one
person. The script is very important
obviously as without it you wouldn't
know what to say.
The final scene is who it’s
directed by, this could
arguably be the most
important as different
directors have different
styles and perspectives on
ideas. This gives the
audience an idea on what
they can expect in the film.
