Media evaluation question 2
1. Media Evaluation Question 2
How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary texts
2. Film Poster
I didnβt have a massive link between poster and film as I didn't want to reveal everything that
happens in the film instead I used slight signs of what my film could be about.
When creating my film poster I wanted it to be unique and have slight links to the main
product so the audience would question what the films about and hopefully make them want
to watch it to find out. Examples of this would be the font I used for the title I tried to give off
the effect of the texting moving and it being chased
which relates to the chase scene in our film.
I made sure my title and release date were bigger then any other text on the poster as its the
main selling point.
I didn't use the same font or effect on the film as I did here because I feel its not an
important combination to have for example when looking at the poster the audience isn't
going to then look to see if I used the same font and effect.
3. Film Poster
I chose to use an image of me and Connor against the wall
because in my opinion the audience would interpret our film
as an action and in other posters I looked at for inspiration
they used a picture from an actually scene in there film.
I did however edit the picture, I removed everything
other then me, Connor and the wall so we would stand out
and using white text would make the text stand out more.
This is another link I used on my poster which is the slogan times ticking. I originally
just had this slogan on its own but it wouldn't of made sense until they
had watched the film so I decided to add the actually watch that's in the film in the
corner of the poster but as its square it didnβt look right so I added a circular watch
which isnβt actually in the film but makes the slogan make sense on the poster and
the slogan links to the film.
4. Film review
For my film review I again decided not to have a massive link to my film so I had to be careful
about what I wrote I wanted to give the reader enough information about my film that they
what film they would be watching and I of course wanted them to want to watch it so I was
positive but honest when I wrote my review. The best way to give the reader useful information
such as director, actors and film length was to simply bullet point them
When writing my review I decided to set the scene for the reader which hopefully would give
them a big indication of the type of film it is so I described the first scene in detail as this didn't
give away any of the story, told them the plot more then anything and then gave them my views
on the acting and what the directors intend to do next. I decided to mention the directors and
actors here as I didn't do so on my poster and some people if they see a film and enjoy it they
want to know who the directors were and actors.
