  3. 3. DEFINITION Blood is a specialised bodily fluid that delivers necessary substances such as nutrients and oxygen to the cells and transports metabolic waste products away from those same cells.
  4. 4. Substances FOUND IN BLOOD…
  5. 5. 1) PLASMA It is the yellowish fluid in blood that makes up the 55% of the total blood volume. It consists of dissolved proteins, glucose, clotting factors, mineral ions, hormones, CO2. In the body, plasma serves as a medium to transport essential substances in blood.
  6. 6. 2) RED BLOOD CELL The red blood cell specialised for oxygen transport, having high concentrations of haemoglobin in the cytoplasm.
  7. 7. 3) WHITE BLOOD CELL It is the primary rule involves the body’s immune system, protecting the body against invading micro-organisms and foreign particles.
  8. 8. 4) PLATELETS It is a particle found in the bloodstream that binds to fibrinogen at the site of a wound to begin the blood clotting process.
