• What are blood vessels?
• Ans : Blood vessels are intricate networks of hollow
tubes that transport blood throughout the entire body
• Why do we need blood vessels?
• Diffusion is too slow to transport materials and cannot
remove wastes

3. BLOOD VESSELS IN THE BODY
• Arteries
• Veins
• capillary

4. ARTERIES
• Is an elastic blood vessel that transport blood away from
the heart
• Question: What is the function of Arteries?
• It is to carry blood away from the blood. It is equipped
with thick walls, smooth muscles and very elasticized
tissue

5. VEIN
• Is an elastic blood vessel that transport blood all over the
body
• What is the Function?
• It is to carry blood towards the Heart.

6. CAPILLARY
• Extremely small blood vessel located within the tissue of
the body.
• Function: pick up waste, carbon dioxide, nutrients and
gas

7. TYPES OF CELLS
• Red blood cell
• Plasma
• White blood cell
• platelets

• Transport oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the
body
• Oxygen is produced during respiration

10. WHITE BLOOD CELLS
• Defends the body against both infectious disease and
foreign materials.
• They live about 3 to 4 days in the human body.

• holds the blood cells in whole blood in

• protects the body from infection and
other blood disorders.

• lifespan of a platelet is normally just 5 to 9 days
• Stops bleeding
