2. It promotes physical activity.
In the year 2011-12, 24% of boys and 27% of girls were overweight or
obese.
That’s an increase since 1995!
PDHPE in primary schools aim to change this by allowing at least 30-60
minutes of activity which is very important for the kids! Why? This is
because it disrupts bad habits at an early age so that they are less likely
to stay obese as they become adults.
It is especially important for the health of their little bodies. PDHPE
promotes regular exercise, which can enhance the development of strong
bones and reducing the risk of heart disease!
3. Teamwork and friendships!
PDHPE allows the students to communicate between one
another. We use teamwork with a wide range of our
sports, which is very important because:
The students make great friends with one another!
They learn how to resolve conflict
Their communication skills strengthen
They begin to make decisions which benefit not only
themselves, but everyone else in their team!
4. Kids Stay Safe!
In PDHPE, we value the safety and wellbeing of all
students. This is why we teach the kids how to
make decisions outside of the school environment
in ways that will keep them safe.
Everything we teach them in the classroom, they
carry with themselves and are well rehearsed to
keep safe in sticky situations!
5. And Now…The Parents!
What can you do to enhance the physical education experience for your
kids?
Make it an important part of their lives!
Ensure they get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.
Make it fun! Go for a walk, a bike ride, or play a game of soccer in the
backyard!
Keep them activated!
Making exercise a big part of their lives will ensure they come to class
energetic and ready to learn new skills!
