2. WHY TEACH IT ?
- Health and physical education (PDHPE ) is one of the 6 key learning
areas in the NSW primary curriculum.
- It provides the school a curriculum framework that teaches young
people on fitness and physical activities that stimulate their minds and
bodies.
- This syllabus is unique to the total school curriculum as it contributes to
the improvement and on going quality of the child's life.
3. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Schools can help the students to take responsible actions regarding their
life by :
- Improving students mental, physical and social wellbeing.
- Encouraging students to make healthy and well balance decisions on
what they choose to eat .
- Developing a positive attitude towards a healthy life style, by being
physically active.
4. STUDENT LEARNING
students learn life lessons such as :
- Developing an understanding on drugs, nutrition and child protection.
- students will also be enhanced through the use of computer based
technologies, it enables them to locate and analyse a range of text
graphics, sounds, and images
5. MAINTENANCE OF A POSITIVE INTERPERSONAL
RELATIONSHIP
- students learn the importance of maintaining a personal relationship
with their peers and family
- Students also Learn to work as a team player with other members in a
group activity
-Students learn to negotiate conflict resolutions, tolerance and
responsibility towards themselves.
6. PROMOTES LIVING AND LEARNING IN A SAFE
ENVIRONMENT
- Students need to recognise situation were their personal safety may be
at risk.
- -they are taught to use strategies to protect themselves.
