2. Infraction
Infraction is the gripping story of twin sisters Emily and
Amy Willow, London’s most notorious gangsters and follow them
through their story of crime, hate and murder.
3. Uniquesellingpoint
The Unique selling point of Infraction is that it is two female main
characters in a gangster/ action film, this is something audiences are not
used to seeing. One of the main things we wanted to address in our film was
gender representation so we needed to make sure that this came across in our
promotional products.
In our marketing products we wanted to include both twins but also make sure
that the theme of evil came across enough for people to understand the genre
of the film by just looking at the film poster or magazine cover. We are using
the same font in all our promotional products as well as using similar images,
so that audiences will be able to connect the promotional products together
when the see them. We are also trying to get across the point that the twins
are from London and they are from a non-privileged background so they are
doing what they do so that they know what being privileged is like.
4. TeaserTrailer
The key ideas we wanted to include in our teaser trailer involved us demonstrating the
different kinds of crimes the twins took part in. For example, we decided that one of our
shots would be of various ID’s (E.g. driving license etc.) and bank cards which portrays
the idea of fraud and deception. In a separate shot, we wanted to capture various items of
jewellery that would help give the idea of them taking part in various burglaries. The
typical features of a crime/action/adventure genre are fast paced, therefore we wanted to
ensure that when it came to editing, we took this into consideration and made sure that
the variety of shots were put together in a pace that built up tension.
5. Filmposter
For our film poster we wanted to have both of the twins featuring, we also wanted to
include a brick wall as the back to portray an urban setting which will make the genre
stand out. We want to include a gun in the images because we need to make sure that we
attract the right target audience, as without the guns the genre and theme isn’t being
set. We used the poster for legend as our inspiration because it includes twins portrayed
by the same actor which is the same as us. For the images we will make sure that the
characters are dressed appropriately for their roles so that their is a true character
representation which will overall make it look more professional.
6. Magazinecover
Originally we chose to use the pre existing magazine ‘Empire’ for our magazine cover because it is fitting
with the genre of film that we are doing, for instance action films such as ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Public
Enemies’. However since doing further research we ultimately decided that we should use the pre
existing magazine of ‘Sight and Sound’ because Empire mainly does high budget, American block busters
whereas our film would be an independent British. This is why it would be more fitting to use Sight and
Sound.
We liked the layout of Sight and sounds magazine cover for the film ‘Boyhood’. We liked
how they used the two images, one faded behind and the other being smaller in front.
This also helped us see the effect and style that Sight and Sound use.
For our film magazine cover we have decided that we are going to have two images
layered together with one faded behind. We will use the existing logo and use the
existing magazine as a template for the layout and the features included.
7. Targetaudience
‘Legend’, ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Black Mass’ are all similar films to ours because of the genre, which means that
their target audiences are going to be similar to ours. The common trend on all three is that the male
percentage of viewers is considerably higher than female, for instance the male % for Legend is 71% compared
to the 29% of female viewers. However our female audience may be greater on ours compared to some of the
others as the lead of our film is a woman, this means women are more likely to be able to relate to the lead
character and are ultimately more likely to watch the film. Also one of the most common age audiences is 15-
24, which shows that this is common for the action - crime genre. The most common class % in all three films
is AB which is “Higher & intermediate managerial, administrative, professional occupations”. These pre
existing target audience’s have helped us to develop our films target audience as being aimed at both male
and female, the most common classes as AB and C1 and age groups of 15-24.

8. Comparison
A real media product that we are comparing our ideas to is the film ‘Legend’ (2014). An
aspect of this film that we would love to recreate is the split screen, where they used
the same actor for the role of twins on screen at the same time. This could possibly be
quite challenging as we would need to keep the camera at exactly the same point. We also
liked the ‘gangster’ genre and theme as it gives the overall film excitement. We have also
taken inspiration from ‘Legend’ as we liked how in the teaser trailer the tension is built
through the pace of shots and the diegetic and non-diagetic sounds.
This is an example of the split screen, which was
an aspect of the film ‘Legend’ that we liked.
This is the same actor which shows that they have
layered two clips together, which if we
successfully recreate will show a high skill.
