How did you attract/address your
          audience?
Firstly I carried out a questionnaire, which I gave to 10 people that are my
intended target audience. This will allow me to create a pop music magazine
that will appeal to my target audience.
My questionnaire told me that pink, yellow, white and black was the
preferred colour scheme. Therefore I created my magazine using this colour
scheme throughout. These colours are also conventional of pop music
magazine as they are bright and cheery.
Arial was the favoured font, mainly because I think it was the easiest to read.
This is crucial for a magazine as the text is important in what it has to say.
Freebies were clearly a positive to include with the magazine.
My target audience were prepared to spend between £1 and £2 on the
magazine. This was significant because it reflected the fact that I was aiming
my magazine at middle class people.
Using a weekly theme was also a popular idea.
Images of male artists/bands, celebrities, clothing and real life women are
what my target audience want to see in the magazine.
Moreover featuring specific artists such as, Cher Lloyd and Olly Murs were
popular.
I tried to stick to what my findings told me in my questionnaire as I wanted to
please my target audience as they are who I want to buy my magazine.
I tried to stick to the conventions of pop magazines front
covers as the cover is key to attracting the audience.
I did this buy using a large bold masthead that presents
the name of the magazine. Presenting it so big captures
the audiences attention.
In addition to this I used a mid shot of the model in the
centre of the page. She has direct eye contact with the
camera, which is appealing the the reader as they can
connect. The background of this image is simply white to
avoid any distractions from the model.
I used a variety of magazine techniques. Such as, bursts,
splashes, sell lines, puffs and tag lines. These all attract
the audience to the magazine as they give short snippets
of text from the magazine, giving a the audience a taste
of what inside. They should then want to buy the
magazine to find out more.
Smaller images are presented around the main image,
once again to give a flavour of what's inside. My research
shows that my target audience like magazines that
include male artists/boy bands, which is why I chose I to
include a picture of Olly Murs on the front cover.
Conclusion
I tried to use a variety of different techniques to
attract and address my audience. For example
imagery, colours and typography. I have presented
all of these factors through the front cover, contents
and double page spread. I paid a particular focus on
the front cover as I felt this was the main page that
would attract the audience.
 I stuck to what my questionnaire told me that my
target audience liked to gain and keep their
interest.
