4. Adobe Elements + IMovie
As a group we used Adobe Elements as this allowed us to produce a
successful final product of a horror trailer. It made all of the editing easier
as everything was in one place and the footage that was recorded
previously was easy to add and cut accordingly. It allowed us as a group to
make changes to our footage and final product ensuring that it was
conventional to both form and genre. One conventional element that we
used throughout which was conventional to both form and genre was the
dip to black transition, this was easily added by simply dragging it
between the clips that you wanted and then choosing the duration. This
made it possible to convey tension build up within the trailer as well as
being conventional to form and not giving too much of the storyline away
by using short clips. These short clips were also easily created by simply
selecting the scissor tool which helped to create fast pace editing within
the final trailer product.
5. Photoshop + Fireworks
Within my ancillary products the images are highly important in to
contributing to the overall success and whether they are professional or
not. I used both Photoshop and Fireworks to ensure that the images on
my magazine cover and the poster were conventional to the genre. I
changed the lighting on both to low key lighting which is a very
conventional element for the horror genre. I also made changes to the
main characters eyes to again make them more conventional and darker
with the correct connotations.
6. PowerPoint, Word, Slide share,
Animoto, YouTube, Emaze + Prezi
Throughout I have used a variety of different presentation methods, these
have helped me to organise my research, planning and production within
my blog. Powerpoint, Word, Emaze and Prezi have helped me to be in
high detail about specific elements, they are also very easy to use and
allow me to upload and annotate images to make my detailed analysis
make sense and look professional. Animoto is in less detail but has helped
me present the conventional elements within my products. Slide share
and YouTube has made it easier to put my work onto my blog. I feel that
these have effectively shown my work in detail.
7. Twitter, Facebook + Survey Monkey
Throughout my research planning and production I have been receiving
audience feedback to ensure that the changes and product that I have
created are conventional to genre and form but also aesthetically pleasing
to my target audience. To do this I used Survey Monkey to create surveys
based upon different components leading up to my final products. Once
the survey was created I posted it through Facebook and Twitter as I was
then able to reach a high number of my target audience. This was a
successful method as I was able to receive a good amount of feedback
which was really helpful when making improvements.
8. Publisher
Microsoft Publisher was my chosen programme to create my ancillary poster
and magazine cover. This was because it helps to create a professional
finished product. I was able to take the background away from the fonts
that I had chosen again to give it a better finish within the product. It was
easy to rearrange components within the page ensuring that both the
magazine cover and the poster were conventional to form. It was also easy
to crop the image when necessary as well as adding different components
and changing them accordingly making them conventional to form and
genre.
9. YouTube + Sound cloud
Using sound cloud and YouTube has helped with sound research. Once I
found an appropriate sound effect of backing music on YouTube, Sound
cloud made it possible for it to be easily uploaded to my blog. This shows
that as a group we spent time looking at the music and ensuring that it
was appropriate and conventional for my trailer.
YouTube also helped us with our final product as it made it easier for our
trailer to be uploaded to our blogs, again contributing to the overall
success.
10. Camera + Tripod
The Video Equipment used throughout allowed me to produce my final
product of the horror trailer successfully. The camera made it easy to
follow conventions as the grid on the screen allowed us as a group to
follow the rule of thirds. This is an important element as it allows the
audience to see everything thatโs going on onscreen and focus on specific
areas easier.
To ensure that all of the shots that were recorded were to the highest
standard we used a tripod. This made sure that the camera was still and
that the final trailer was professional.
