2. My magazine is a music magazine exploring the underground scene of the
UK. It will contain artist from the genres of House, Dubstep and Garage.
The magazine will feature less well known artist as it is “exploring the
underground scene” and not focusing on the mainstream culture. It will follow
story's of how artists have carved there way into the niche subculture and what
they plan to do for the future.
My topic research will be on artist that I would use if I where to create this
magazine and publish it to the real world market.
3. CONGI
The first artists I have found are Congi. The duo built up of Gaz frost and
Tulip started their journey in the city of Nottingham where they have “carved
their own space in the city's furnishings”.
The two have lately come into the ears of a wider audience with the joining of
similar artists Geode, B9 and Jafu to create a new collective label Chord
Marauders.
Their music consists of “swinging drums and smooth sub-lines” that is said to
“honour the roots of the movement”
4. Chord Marauders
Other artists from Chords Marauders
Geode – Is a London based artists who's passion for producing Dubstep
began as a teenager. Geode has a unique twist on Dubstep fusing ambient line
and jazz riffs enriching his sounds with the sounds of house engaging with
multiple genres.
B9 – is a new comer into the scene after experimenting with his sound. B9
mixes his work with soft piano riffs to create a sophisticated sound. His work
has been praised by Djs Bunzero and Syte.
Jafu – based in canada Jfu was experimenting with production in his early
teens. He has now cultivated one of the most distinct styles in the genre.
5. OneFortyDeep
Onefortydeep is an artist I found when looking on the internet. His style
consists of a deep bass creating an atmospheric sound. As an artist who has
just started out with only a soundcloud page to show my magazine would be
the perfect type in the real world to give him credit and potentially jump start
his career.
I would place him in an upcoming artist section that would promote these
types of artists that keep the life in the underground scene.
