1. HIP HOP WEEKLY 71
Rarely is a singer able to connect with
so diverse an audience. From the
young ladies who developed a liking
to the smooth flow of his voice, to
the everyday man on the street who
can respect the “grit and realness” of
his sound, to the deep and eclectic
beings who can allow themselves to be
inspired by the humanity in his words.
This man has music in his soul and is
ready to share it with the world. Black
Dada has been recognized by the likes
of Iconz Music, DJ Griot and K-FOXX of
99 JAMZ, DJ Epps (G-Unit), Ball Greezy,
Rick Ross, and the list goes on from
DJ’s, and club promoters to producers,
writers and record labels. Black DADA
has a loyal fan base from Florida to Haiti. His online fan base demonstrates global
interest where his name generates over 200 thousand hits. Black DADA is currently in
the studio working on his first album release under the production “Beatnomics - House
of Soundz Studios” (ft. Remy J, Lay-gus, Amp, D-Major, NovaKang) and has open and
completed projects with Drum Majorz and Issac Opus. Black is working daily to get his
voice out there. No nerves in the studio, this is where this man goes to lay it down. Hit
singles “Imma Zoe” and “My Baby” are definitely fan favorites. Black DADA is ready to
showcase to the world his talent as a musician, writer, producer and performer. “I live
through my music and my music expresses how I live,” says Black, who recently signed
to Universal Republic Records.
Candi describes her style of music
as “world music.” Her fusion of
R&B and Pop incorporates a bit of
rap but as she explains, she lets
the MCs do the spittin’. “My music
is R&B, Pop and hip hop, but I
don’t rap, I leave the rappin’ to the
rappers.”With the guidance of Poo
Bear, her long time collaborator
and writer extraordinaire, Candi-
Pye is certain to strike gold and
even platinum when her album
The Ingredients to Candi-Pye debuts.
Candi-Pye and Poo Bear have been
developing her album over the
past several years, completing as
much as 75% of the project to date.
Candi-Pye explains, “We’ve been
working for about six years and we’re just about finished with the album. Mr. DJ is
the primary producer on the album, he did a lot of Outkast’s music. We also have
writers like Jeff B. and producer Slim Jim and Scott Storch. As well as Soul Shock and
Karlin who did big songs like Whitney Houston’s ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and Brandy’s
‘Brokenhearted.’ The Stereotypes are also some hot producers that are on the project,
they did Danity Kane’s ‘Damaged.’” Meech and Rich Pye are two other very talented
producer that have contributed to the album, The Ingredients to Candi-Pye, which
includes features by Lupe Fiasco and Yung Joc. Candi-Pye co-writes many of her
songs with Poo Bear and she says that lyrically she leans towards uplifting content
because she enjoys creating music that makes people feel good. Get your own slice of
