2. OUR DOCUMENTARY
Our documentary is on what creativity is to different people.
As you have seen from our blog posts we have been able
to get the media theorists David Gauntlet to feature in our
film. In recent years Gauntlett has moved his focus onto
the everyday making and sharing of digital media and
social media and the role of different forms of media on
how different people identify and express themselves.
This is a particular reason why we have chosen Gauntlett
for one of our interviewees. A book that we are going to
look at for research into Gauntlett his his creative
explorations book. We have also been in contact with Mr
Jeff Kindleysides, co founder of Leicestershire design
Company Checkland Kindleysides.
3. CHECKLAND KINDLEYSIDES Checkand Kindleysides is a UK
based design company. Their head
office Is in Leicestershire. They
specialize in the art of brand story
telling. The services tat they
provide are strategy & insight /
branding / communications /
interiors & architecture / digital
experience / post production /
bespoke furniture /
prototyping & sampling. We have chosen Mr Kinldeysides as an interviewee
because his knowledge on the creative industry will prove useful for our
production. Jeff's knowledge on the practical side of creativity rather than theory
of creativity will complement the ideas put across in what Gauntlett is more likely
to talk about.
4. CREATIVE EXPLORATIONS
The book looks at how we picture identity and how
individuals make visual representations of their own
identities. This is closely related to the way that
people see creativity which is a reason we should
look at its contents for research into the topic area.
The book was listed for a 2007times higher award
‘young academic author of the year’. Gauntlett urns
away from the usual interviews and focus groups in
this book and instead looks at studies where people
have been asked to make visual things. Examples
include a video or a drawing. Gauntletts asked
people to build a symbolic version of themselves out
of leg pieces. This helped Guantlett find out how
individuals perceive themselves in a creative way.
We really like this idea that gauntlet used and in many
ways connects to what creativity is to different
people which is the theme of our documentary. For
this reason we will be hoping to get Gauntlett to talk
about some of these findings.
5. FACTS ABOUT CREATIVE INDUSTRY

7. This infographic shows that the creative industries share a total of 8.5% of the uk
job share. The grid also shows that in 2013 the east midlands was part of an area
that had a 5.2% proportion of jobs in the uk creative economy which is where
Checkland Kindleysides head office is based and london had a 28.1 percent
which is where Professor Gauntlet is based and Checkland Kindleysides.
8. ANCILLARY TASKS
Our primary target audience is between the ages of 20-27 this age
is more likely to be on more than one type of media. Around
17% of listeners tune in online suggesting that we could reach a
wider audience as more people will be listening to these radio
stations and therefore more people will be aware of our product.
In terms of the radio we could also think about how some
advertisments are not from the creators of the documentary
themselves but from a supermarket for example that Is selling
our product.
