2. INTRODUCTION
If we look back on the last 50 years and see the
vast growth of technology we are amazed at
how far we have really come. From the first
telephone in the early 1900s to visual video
communication in the 21st century the jump is
amazing. As time continues to past the sky is
the limit for the future of technology. From
1999-2009 the change has been evident and it
will only go up from here.

new millennium has brought forth unforeseen

6. USES AND GRATIFICATIONS THEORY - TV
- The idea people use media for the personal gain of
themselves is one that can be used in many different
aspects of life.
- Television- Different uses and gratifications depending on
person; over time the TV has vastly grown and fit the needs
of many different people.
Usage for Television
- Information- Finding out about events throughout the world,
Self-Education
- Personal Identity- Relating with others, finding matching
personal beliefs
- Entertainment- Escape from troubles, get a good laugh
7. SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY (WITH TV)
- Social learning theory is a perspective that states that
social behavior (any type of behavior that we display
socially) is learned primarily by observing and imitating
the actions of others.
- People use television as a way to have people to look up
to let influence decisions in life.
- For example, a person can want to hear the story of
someone’s success because they feel they can imitate
this idea.
9. TELEPHONE: CRITICAL MASS THEORY
• The Critical Mass theory is based on the idea of
individual’s communicate with one another for
the benefit of both individuals.
• The invention of the radio only benefited one
person, thus the idea of the telephone came
about.
• The original telephone to today’s cellular
devices is a vast different, but has steadily
increased the ability to communicate across the
world
11. CONCLUSION
Technology is continuously changing and
will not stop because of the idea of
always wanting something better.
Individual’s have instilled the theories of
communication in their everyday lives
and this will not stop in the future.
