1. Questionnaire results
For this task I created a questionnaire to find out how my target audience liked
my magazine front cover and my double page spread. To do this I had too ask
questions that fitted my target audience. I also asked a sufficient audience so that
I know what they are saying is good enough for me to summarize for the whole
of my target audience. I asked an even amount of males and females. I asked
them between the age range of 16 and 26 and this fits in with the mixmags target
audience. They aim it at this target audience, as they are the ones that are most
likely going to have the disposable income to buy this magazine and they are
more likely going to go to upper class raves/clubs and take pride in knowing all
the latest things in the music genre that they enjoy.
My first question I asked was: “Do you think the picture are of good quality?”. I
did this to find out what my target audience thought of the pictures on my front
cover and double page spread. Here is a bar chart to show what they said;
No
Series1
Yes
0 2 4 6 8 10
This bar chart shows that 80% of the people I asked think that my pictures are of
good quality. I asked a few of them why they said this and they said because “its
bright” “no blur” “not distorted”. I think this shows that the target audience for
my mixmag magazine believes that my pictures are of good quality. Over 60% of
the people that said yes were male this fits in with the mixmag target audience.
My second question that I asked them in my questionnaire was “Do you like my
colour scheme?”. I put the results into excel and I made a chart to show what
2. they said about my magazine. Here is that chart:
No
Series1
Yes
0 2 4 6 8 10
This bar chart shows that 90% of the people I asked thought that my colour
scheme was good and that it wouldn’t look out of place on the front cover of any
other mixmag magazine. I found out that all of the males who answered this
question thought that it was a good colour scheme.
The next question in my questionnaire was: ‘Does the text interest you?’ I asked
this question because I wanted to find out if my target audience thought that the
text I had put in my double page interested them or if they had read it all before.
No
Series1
Yes
0 2 4 6 8 10
This bar chart shows that 60% of the people who answered my questionnaire
thought that it was interesting. Interestingly 90% of all the males who answered
this thought it wasn’t interesting with some saying it was boring, but all of the
girls and the one boy thought that it was a really interesting. Another fact that I
get from this chart is that the men who read mixmag want the humorous side
and not the serious side which the females want.
3. The next question in my questionnaire is: ‘Is the text readable?’ I asked this
question because I wanted to make sure that people could read my magazine and
not have to hurt their eyes from staring too hard at the font or the colour.
No
Series1
Yes
0 2 4 6 8 10
From this chart I can see that 90% of the people I asked thought that my text was
readable and they thought it was a good article. All of the males who answered
my questionnaire thought it was of a readable text and font, whereas only 90%
of females thought that with one person saying it was a little too small for her to
see really clearly.
