Personal Narrative On San Francisco
During the summer of 7th grade my mom and I went on a trip to san Francisco that showed me how real untreated mental health issues,
homelessness, and drugs are. I always knew that bad communities existed and they're not safe but I never knew what they really looked like. That
was until my mom and I accidentally walked through the tenderloin. The Tenderloin is one of the most infamous parts of San Francisco. The
whole city of San Francisco is a crazy and beautiful place that I learned how many people suffer from drugs, crime, poverty and homelessness. It
was about 70 degrees outside and fog engulfed the city. As my mom and I were walking back from the Fishermen's Wharf. I turned to my right and
heard dubstep playing so I looked to my right and saw a gorgeous trans man in pumps dancing gorgeously. That was before we took a wrong turn into

It was just out in the open." My mom's eyes were wide open. I could feel the tension between her and I. I've never been so shocked by the sight and
smell of something before. My nostrils stung with the smell of urine and feces. At the time I didn't know we walked through the Tenderloin and that it
was the most infamous neighborhood in San Francisco until my mom said so. My mom laughed nervously "Ha! We just walked through the
Tenderloin... Let's just pretend that never happened." After that encounter I saw the underbelly of society as a more fascinating and serious issue. I
couldn't help but want to hear these people's stories and want to know what brought them here but in a non–judgemental way. The more I walked
around San Francisco, the more I saw the homeless. Some of them it was clear that they were so mentally ill they couldn't get a job. There were
others who didn't have the money or resources to get into rehab. I thoroughly enjoyed our trip but it opened my eyes to the reality of society and that I
should be grateful for the things I

My Timelapse Of Wellesley Project
My process was very solid for my Timelapse of Wellesley project. When planning how to execute the project, we were told to create a timeline. I
agreed with what the teachers told us to do. So, I estimated how long it would take for each step to be completed and put it on my phone calendar.
For my process, the first step I did was to research and find places around Wellesley that had history. I also wanted to include a scenic location. Second,
I went out to capture a time–lapse of the contemporary locations. I did this step in two days because it required a lot of time getting to these locations,
and capturing the moment. Third, I edited my photos to make the time–lapse. I incorporated the genre melodic dubstep to help the viewer relax and
take in the work I produced. My final step was to write a small essay about the history of our town to fulfill my history discipline. Also, I wrote about
the dump and what items can be recycled and what items can't be. This was for my science discipline. My art discipline was my time–lapse I made in
Imovie and uploaded to Youtube. I used my photography... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainly, I could increase the amount of time we had. It requires a lot of time to make a timelapse that is longer in length than a minute. In addition, if I
had a better computer and a better editing software my time lapse would be better. I struggled dealing with "low disk space" on my harddrive so I
had to constantly delete old photos and stuff on my computer I didn't need. Furthermore, I would like to work with a partner. Working with a partner
would allow me to have more photos and would make this long process more efficient. My greatest success of the project was probably writing about
the history of Wellesley and also the Wellesley Dump. This was the main success because of the unique data I found and wrote about. My project is
very unique compared to many other students. Overall, I enjoyed the work which I

Analysis Of The Song Diplo-Revolution
A Revolution The moments that matter are the ones that you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life and the song Diplo– Revolution
(absence remix) is a song that can ignite those moments. This song can be classified in the dubstep genre but because the original song is considered
to be EDM (Electric Dance Music) it is mixed up between the two genres. Kai (Alessia De Gasperis Brigante) is the song writer and vocalist. She
describes a value that she wants people to hear through her lyrics. Kai was introduced to EDM by writing and singing for a very popular DJ named
Diplo (Thomas Pentz). Kai stimulates feelings and emotion in the song Diplo–Revolution, she gives a different approach to EDM listeners, and she

Not all EDM is considered to be about sex, drugs, and alcohol actually in most circumstances there are EDM songs that have no meaning at all. This
particular song makes people think about what they are listening to instead of just listening to the melody of the music. The song Diplo–Revolution

Music Classification Essay
The one thing that clearly defines America is the music. The music of this generation is incredible.First off you can listen to anything you want with no
judgment, You can even make Devoted friends over the music. You have Jazz music and Musicals, Pop and Rap, Hardcore and Deathcore music,Kpop
and Dubstep, you name it it's out there somewhere and you can listen to it.Therefore so many people go to music types on an impulse.Consequently I
listen to almost every kind of music, I like to have my friends send me music they're into. I can learn more about that friend; the music someone
listens to really does say a lot about them. Therefore,I also extend my knowledge and love for different types of music.
If you think about it, the type of music people listen to can affect their mood, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Silent Generation (people born in the '20s and '30s) had big band and swing. Baby Boomers (born in the '40s and '50s) had rock and soul.
Generation X (born in the '60s and '70s) had grunge and hip–hop. There's plenty of overlap, of course, and these are incredibly broad distinctions that
don't take a lot of other genres into consideration. But it's probably fair to say that these were the most defining moments in music for each
generation." This was taken from an article called The Sound of a Generation. This clearly shows that music defines a generation, therefore also defines
America.
Music is truly amazing, it really defines our social rankings and groups. For instance, people who dress more "grunge", tend to lean more towards rock
and metal. While the theater kids lean more towards Musicals and sometimes Jazz. People who listen to everything like me, we tend to not have a
group and flow gracefully between groups. The there are some people who don't fancy music in the least, they tend to have a harder time making
friends. Not only that but there is a song that we adopted to sing at every game before it starts, The National

Siddhartha Hero's Journey
Is it the goal, or is it the journey? Although this seems like a complicated question it is in fact simple, as is the reason to why, there is no goal without
the journey. Seen through almost all aspects of life the journey is the true story, whereas the goal is just an ending point that is often altered or changed
completely. In the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse the goal metamorphosizes after all of the obstacles and trials the main protagonists underwent,
into something different than what was originally the main aim in his life. The two documentaries God Grew Tired of Us narrated by Nicole Kidman
and Dive! Trailer: Short Documentary On Dumpster Diving In The US is a documentary filmed by Jeremy Seifert both emphasize that even if the ...

Showcasing that the journey of each human being is not as important as the final goal God had in place when he first put people with each other on
Earth (Ronblue99, 2008). In the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a short video based off the book series from Douglas Adams the people shown in
the clip spend their already ephemeral lives relying on the hope that one day the Supercomputer will inform them what the meaning of life is. Centuries
pass and they do not learn anything, never allowing themselves to experience any of life's trials and victories because they are so absorbed in the
need for knowledge and nirvana they believe will be gained from the answer to "The Question" (warmandreal, 2010). In The Road Not Taken by
Robert Frost the speaker is experiencing the vicissitudes of human emotion as they stand at the fork in the forest, attempting to make the right choice
to go down the better path. This poem symbolizes how a person can have the goal in mind of getting to their destination and therefore choose a path
that they believe is better and claiming to desire to come again in the future to find out what the other path held and stating that the path he choice was
the least traveled to justify the speaker's actions (Frost, 1916). This displays that when a person is occupied by a set goal they could possibly miss

Is Jazz Really Dead Essay
Jazz. A label associated with brass, dance and America. A music filled with so much life and force– but to the general appeal, it appears to be dying.
Drowning amongst pop songs and dubstep, it seems that the fate of jazz will resemble the one of dusty library books that have never seen the time of
day. But is Jazz truly dead? Or does it – to quote Frank Zappa – just smell funny?
About a century ago jazz was considered as popular music and was considerably the most influential movement at the time. In 1920, jazz had infected
Kansas City and it could be heard on every corner of each street. It began around the early 1900s, when African American musicians congregated in
the city of New Orleans. In the town of Storyville, musicians would share and improvise their music. Eventually, some musicians would leave New
Orleans to share the "New Orleans music." By the 1920s, after jazz had entered the vocabulary in 1917, indie music companies began recording jazz ...

Even some teenagers disagree with the statement of jazz being dead. "I know jazz isn't dead because a lot of people listen to it. It's just like – our
generation, we tend to listen to more like pop and rap rather than jazz. But jazz is like – it used to be the "pop" of a generation so – and it's pretty cool,
it's funky." says Sabrina, a student who indulges in chillstep rather than jazz. Other students agree, saying it's not dead but rather, as Vincent says, "it's
just not as popular as it used to be."
So maybe jazz isn't dead. Perhaps we mistake the decrease in attention and exposure for a slow death. The jazz scene might not be as big as it once
was, but music is always changing and jazz was the product of change. It may not top MTV charts and big bands may seem to be low in number but
in my eyes, jazz isn't dying – because as we speak now, a child picks up a saxophone, or a trumpet, or maybe drum sticks and decides at this very
moment that jazz is the one for

The Influence Of Grime And Trap Music On The Media And...
Grime and trap music have slowly found their way to the top of mainstream popular music culture over the last decade. Grime is now one of
Britain's largest and well known musical styles as it is taking over from American Hip Hop and can be widely heard over radio stations such as
"Capital 95.8fm" and "Kiss 100 Fm". What Jazz was from the 1920s to 40's or what R&B was between the 70's to 80's. Like most genres of music
which have made mainstream popularity such as Rock n Roll, Grime too tends to have negative perception on the genre and within mainstream outlets,
therefore impacting on the public perception of the music and the culture that it has sprung from. Throughout this assignment I will be looking at the

Grime has gigantic potential, both commercially and artistically. But it 's always failed to live up to expectations, and violence is partly to blame.
Most promoters now find it impossible to put on grime in clubs, because grime nights have been unofficially outlawed by the police.
Deja Vu FM, Rinse FM, Flex FM, Freeze FM, Axe FM were some of the first radio stations illegally held up in high–rise flats in and around London
town. which started to play the grime music. Rinse FM now has a full licence, as do some of the others, but online radio stations are the way forward
now.
Grime began as a London based movement, yet rapidly keeps running into debate when various live events were disturbed by rival groups and crews,
authorizing issues or police interference. Violence has regularly hidden out of sight, from unpredictable MC Crazy Titch getting imprisoned for murder
in 2005 at the height of his fame, to grime demonstrates getting kicked off the pirate radio station Rinse FM in December 2006.
Most of grime 's stars, come from deprived London boroughs like Hackney and Newham, where gun crime is out of control. But it may also have
something to do with the sound itself – unlike two–step garage, its predecessor, grime is intrinsically claustrophobic and furious.
Grime 's only 2004 chart hit, Lethal B 's Pow!, was famously banned from several clubs for starting too many fights. In POW! also known as Forward

Gender Stereotypes In Advertising
Upon first glance the commercials the media use seem to discriminate based upon gender, however, this is not the case. Many factors are researched
and focus groups are gathered before many commercials are created and when created they are used to appeal to certain people. An example of this is
toy companies, they create their items based upon the questions asked to children. When questioning the children what toys they always play with girls
tend to respond with dolls and princess play items and boys tend favor the cars and sports items. Using this as their marketing key, they can sell their
toys with more assurance that the item will be popular.
Music uses the same basic marketing strategy, find out what the people like and one is almost guaranteed a positive outcome. Recently the fad is
Dubstep and marketing for this music started in the early 2000's in England and has made its way into the United States. Dubstep has become more
commercially successful in the early 2010's with more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research that is compiled by the companies that sell the items go to great lengths so that their items are recognized. Be it for simple things like
Huggies that is known for their diapers or Prada and Gucci that is known for their name and prices. They do not discriminate against genders, if one
were to watch more recent commercials where there are girls playing with Hotwheels and boys playing house with the girls. If anything, it is the
consumers that discriminate. They buy the girls dolls instead of a football and for the boys trucks instead of tea sets. They buy the girls pink and the
boys blue because that is how society sees it and they feel like they most conform to it to be accepted. Therefor, for the parents who buy their boys the
Barbie dolls they scream they want and the girls the monster trucks they cling to without trying to convince them to get toys that others deem
acceptable to their gender, we applaud

Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, my audience will have a better understanding of EDM culture.
Thesis Statement: Electronic Dance Music is more than just bops and scratching sounds; it's a way of life.
Introduction: (Play YouTube video from 1:38– 1:58). What you just heard were the sounds of EDM. EDM stands for electronic dance music. Also
you saw first–hand the inside of a rave called Electric Daisy Carnival (a Las Vegas event famous for 'finding yourself under the electric sky'). What

behind the top 3 most popular genres of EDM, and the meaning behind rave culture.
I. The different types of EDM I will be talking about is Dubstep, House, and Trap A. The first genre of music I will be talking about is Dubstep. 1.
Dubstep originated in South London, and traced back to the Jamaican sound system in early 1980's. a. This type of music played in secret

reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals" (Bush 2012). (Insert sound clip here) B. The second genre of music I will be
talking about is House. 1. The origination of house music in the United States began in Chicago's Southside in 1977. a. A new type of club created,
given the name 'The Warehouse.' 2. Frankie Knuckles is, "The Godfather of House." 3. Early DJ techniques seen in the "The Warehouse" 4. House
music was generally characterized by "repetitive 4/4 beats, rhythms mainly provided by drum machines, off–beat hi–hat cymbals, and synthesized
baselines" (Cambell 2012). (insert sound clip here) C. The third and final genre of music I will be talking about is Trap, my personal favorite. 1.

Feelings About Hip Hop Music
How I feel about hip hop music Hip hop is a wide very open different type of music it brings some people in but pushes others away. Personally I do
not like hip hop I prefer dubstep or country. Hip hop music is disliked by most people who don't live in a city or an urban area. The reason Myself
and many others dislike hip hop is because it does not relate to our lives so we do not enjoy it. Hip hop was made for people in urban area not
country sides so that is my main point for not liking hip hop. My second point for not liking hip hop is the words don't relate to my life i don't really

Bruce Springsteen's 8-Track
Have you ever considered a time capsule? What do the items in this big barrel really stand for? Say you were to find a time capsule from the 1980s.
You find inside an 8–Track tape of Bruce Springsteen's The River released in 1980. What do you think of this? Do you overlook the meaning and
see it as a representation of the type of music played in the 80s, Pop/Rock? Or maybe you see a significance that reaches far beyond just a type of
music. Maybe you notice that this 8–Track represents not only music, but also innovation at the time. You look at it and realize that back then, people
had to listen to these tapes through an audio cassette player. They also had to personally go out and buy the tape from a music store because there
were no iPods with internet access to millions of albums. You think about The E–Street Band in the studio playing their instruments to record the
background music into microphones. You think about how much work had to go into making this small, low quality 8–Track. You realize how much
manual labor actually meant at the time. Also how far technology has come. This shows how an object can have many different ways of representing a

In the article, he argues a variety of points when it comes to singers and popular music. Normally, we would only care about the tone of ones' voice
when we hear them sing, but Frith's point of view is totally different. He states specifically that a singer's voice is categorized into four parts: voice
as a musical instrument; voice as a body; voice as a person; and voice as a character (187). Personally, I found it very interesting of how he
categorized the voice into these four parts because I had never thought about categorizing the singers' voice into four different criteria. However, I'll
focus with the voice as a musical instrument. Frith argued that, "Voices can be used, like any other instrument, to make a noise of the right sort at

Personal Narrative: My Trip To Guerrero Mexico
December the 22nd, 2013; my uncles and I went to Guerrero Mexico with the purpose of visiting our family, and be with them during the winter
festivities. The first day I remember after we land in Acapulco I felt happy and the same time anxious. After we went outside of the airport the
heavy and humid air received me as I was used to as a child. My uncles and I were really fervent until we observed the devastation left by the
tropical storms Manuel in our way to Arenal de Gomez. I felt lighthearted watching the palm tree growing coconuts in the endless groves at the side of
the road. Then I recalled memories from my childhood drinking fresh coconut water. Furthermore, the closer we were from my grandparents' home the
anxious I became. Finally we arrive and the reception they prepared was very humble, but meaningful. Even more, I was glad to see my mother after
fourteen mounts living with my uncles in the United Estates. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cultural Identity Essay
A person's cultural identity is difficult to define because it's comprised of many different aspects of life, and it's always changing. I'm 16 years old and
I am 5'5 feet tall. I was born in Mexico but once I was 3 years old we moved to the United States. My ethnicity is latino. Many view me as caucasian
because as a kid I was really blonde and also my skin color was very light. Also many of us in my family were very thick and i was really skinny. In the
part we lived in California there were a lot of skinny people. One aspect of my life is the sports I play. I have played over 5 different sports and that
is important because it makes me who i mostly am today. I have played track, water polo, basketball, football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Also
I was really known as an athlete once i played basketball and made league. One sport particular that gets people's attention is track. Once they find
out and my time they are amazed of how fast I am. I believe that soccer and tack are really well known in my family because of most of my family
has played one of those two sports. Last but not least most of my family is really athletic, so I would say that i get my genes from both my parents
and grandparents. Another aspect of my life is my clothes. My clothes when i was younger said a lot about where i was from. I got a lot of hand me

James Blake Research Paper
At first, he has offered the world with beats and tunes that are reminiscent of the biggest EDM artists that have conquered early 2010. The genius in
him had produced melodies and string of sounds that are just irresistible to not dance to and after series of exposures, he displayed that there's more to
him than just beats. After quite some rolls on various stages, he then shocked his growing fans that yes, his vocal chords can do wonders too. The
versatility of his brain to simultaneously do electronic music and impeccably sing at the same time is more than enough for the world to know him
more. If you're on the look–out for an awesome artist to dominate your playlists, then try James Blake and never regret it.

An Essay On Ignorance Is Ignorance
Ignorance is bliss. That's how I took it when I used to read biographies of great human beings, where in most of the cases, people always used to
ignore them at the first place until any great invention took place and they were the hero behind it. That's when I categorized people into two
divisions: (a). people who live to make a difference, great and creative people like scientists, programmers or artists and people of this type; (b).
people who just live their life typically and rely upon other people's life changing inventions. I was going through my teen age, and that thought just
changed my point of view to everything, from religion to the computer operating system that I used to use. I was inspired to be different than the other
typical people around me and try to make a difference. Eventually, I ended up thinking differently, trying out different methods of doing things, like

'Crystalize' By Lindsey Sterling: Song Analysis
The song I chose for the listening guide is "Crystalize" by Lindsey Sterling. The song was released as a music video on her YouTube channel.
Lindsey Sterling, an American violinist, dancer, performance artist and composer, picked up learning the violin at age 5. Since then Sterling was in a
band at age 16, introduced her own YouTube channel in 2007, and was a quarter finalist on Americas Got Talent in 2010. Americas Got Talent gained
her both popularity and more traffic on her YouTube Channel and since 2010 Sterling has released two studio albums, an EP and a couple of singles.
Her songs are an dynamic mix of Celtic folk music, modern classical, dancing and electronic. The eighth–most watched video of 2012, "Crystalize", is
an infusion of a classical instrument, the violin, and modern day musical composition, dubstep. Lindsey Sterling, the solo violinist, is so passionate
about the music that she writes that when she plays the violin its as if her body is the extension of the notes being played and is part of her
expression. Sterling's juxtaposition of classical elements with a very technology oriented musical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While most instrumental composition use variation in both musical composition and instrument to elevate their music, here Sterling doesn't employ
any alternate variation in instruments. The interplay between soft tones, different level of volumes, variation between single, double, and triple
rhythms, contrast between the violin and the drum machine, its rich texture and the way in which electrical music dissipates and then reenters creating
a perfect juxtaposition with the violin really elevates the music to the audience. All of this elements together give it an eastern feel and I get the
impression that without the dubstep and electronic music, this composition would not be special, and with the violin it would be nothing different than

How The Apollonian Contrasts With The Dionysian
Nietzsche has a different outlook on the world. In World of Ideas, by Lee A. Jacobus, it says; "Nietzsche's task was to explain the polarities, their
form of expression, and their effect." (pg. 643) What is the "they" you ask? Well, Jacobus says; " The Apollonian contrasts with the Dionysian, the
Greek with the barbarian, the dream with the illusion." (pg. 643) There are many more examples, but I will spare you the long list. An Apollonian is a
relation to the rational, ordered, and self–disciplined aspects of human nature. A Dionysian is a relation to the sensual, spontaneous, and emotional
aspects of human nature. This evaluation will compare how the two interpret today's music, cinematics, and art. First, Apollonians and Dionysians hear
music in different ways. Apollonians are classical in the department. Not exactly the classical genre of music, just older music. See, they don't like all

An Apollonian would rather watch a play; a live theatre performance. They find it much more awe inspiring if they see the performance all in one
take. They want to see the actors make the play a perfection, waiting to see if a mistake is made and if the actors can recover. A Dionysian,on the
other hand, likes movies more. They don't care how many outtakes it had, they want more. The symbolism, the story, the computer generated images,
how a script can be brought to life. They don't care how, they care how soon. Third, and final, there is a difference in how Apollonians and
Dionysians perceive art. Now, art is hard to understand, and can take many shapes and forms. Apollonians like the simpler art, the ones that are easy to
understand and look at. If you were to give them a single picture that looked concave and convex at the same time, they wouldn't appreciate that to
much. That is more of a Dionysian outlook. They want the pictures that make your mind think, make you question every

Black violin completely changed my impression of what it means to be a violin player. I had only ever heard traditional violin music played by

hip–hop, alternative, dubstep, and pop. Every time I thought they had used their violins in every way possible, they proved me wrong. Each new

An Essay About Edm
A New Type Of Music "EDM" EDM is a real music. Since 1980, electronic music first appeared in nightclub, and soon became popular. It also being
highly accepted in nowadays society. Furthermore, EDM had been widely used in many singer songs, for instance, "Not today", a song from a
Korea's boy band, also a famous song "let me love you", which made by both DJ Snake and Jutin Bieber. EDM is not just a club music. However,
cause the electronic music doesn't involve any instrument, some critics oppose the idea that EDM is a genre of music. The argument about EDM has

As a popular music in nowadays, EDM doesn't involve any instrument in it. In people's common sense, musics are all create with instruments, can
EDM also count as a music, which break up the tradition. The definition for music shouldn't be that confined. In the ancient time, there's no
"instrument", people knocked desks, bowls, bows as the beats for their songs. With time elapsing, "instrument" been created, and defined as
instrument. Let's say instrument is a thing which give people beats and complete the song. As well as electronic device also can give people beats
and complete songs, electronic dance music can also be a music. I had read a article about whether EDM can be a genre music. In this article,
author mentioned a important idea that who or which group of people can decided the genre of music. In my opinion, no one can decided it. Music
is a thing about emotion, everyone have different emotion. We can't say somebody's emotion is wrong. The things is, when we heard a song, a group
of people may have the same felling about it, they may like it and become fans, they may not like it, then just skip it and find another song they like.

Postmodern Pluralism
Postmodern Pluralism and its Effect on Truth and Reconciliation Art: Going Home Star
In 2008, the government created a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, hereafter referred to as TRC, committed to the tasks of discovering the truth
about Canada's Indian Residential Schools, revealing this truth to all Canadians, and attempting to reconcile the relationship between Indigenous and
non–Indigenous Canadians. One of the ways the TRC suggested to facilitate this reconciliation process is through the creative arts. Indeed, in the last

In addition to representing different cultural traditions, postmodernism tends to combine and present both "classical and vernacular traditions," within
a culture (classical in the colloquial sense, not just music belonging to the classical era). In doing so, it sets itself up as anti–elitist, as it does not
distinguish between 'high' and 'low' culture in the same way modern music did. Postmodernism is, at its core, a rejection of modernist traits; therefore
since modernism was only for an elite few, postmodernism aims to reach out and appeal to a larger audience. Going Home Star explores many different
genres of music throughout the piece. Take, for example, the opening sequence. In the first twenty minutes, we hear influences from "big band music,
dubstep, hip–hop, Swan Lake and anything in between." Swan Lake is an example of 'classical' music while big band, dubstep, and hip–hop are all
forms of vernacular music. This notion of anti–elitism was very important to Hatzis when composing Going Home Star, because he wanted any
audience member to be able to connect with the music, even if they aren't trained in classical music. His main consideration was to not "alienate our
native population." Reconciliation art must fight against elitism in order to not alienate any audience members. Anti–elitism, through pluralism of
genre, is another element of

A lot of the notes are often "shuffled notes" which mainly comes from jazz–influenced music, where they would be referred to as "swing." According
to John Mello, "a shuffle note is a practice in which some notes with equal written time values are performed with unequal durations, usually as
alternating long and short." The tempo of dubstep is almost always in the "range of 138–142 beats per minute, with a clap or snare usually inserted
every third beat in a bar." House music is an upbeat and dance oriented style of music. This concert consisted of non–stop dancing and everyone going
wild. One big characteristic of electro house music is that it features a "drop" in every song or several times in a song. The music will be playing at
a slow or medium speed and then all of the sudden the beat "drops" into a powerful, unpredictable beat. These drops come off really well in a live
performance and usually make the crowed respond by dancing intensely. Electro house tracks usually range from 5 to 6 minutes in length with a
gradual build up beat which makes it easier to synch the current song with the next song. The difference with electro house music and dubstep

With so many different types of music out there, there is most likely something for everybody to enjoy. Most of the music that I listen to is either rap,

Personal Narrative On San Francisco

  • 1. Personal Narrative On San Francisco During the summer of 7th grade my mom and I went on a trip to san Francisco that showed me how real untreated mental health issues, homelessness, and drugs are. I always knew that bad communities existed and they're not safe but I never knew what they really looked like. That was until my mom and I accidentally walked through the tenderloin. The Tenderloin is one of the most infamous parts of San Francisco. The whole city of San Francisco is a crazy and beautiful place that I learned how many people suffer from drugs, crime, poverty and homelessness. It was about 70 degrees outside and fog engulfed the city. As my mom and I were walking back from the Fishermen's Wharf. I turned to my right and heard dubstep playing so I looked to my right and saw a gorgeous trans man in pumps dancing gorgeously. That was before we took a wrong turn into what was one of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was just out in the open." My mom's eyes were wide open. I could feel the tension between her and I. I've never been so shocked by the sight and smell of something before. My nostrils stung with the smell of urine and feces. At the time I didn't know we walked through the Tenderloin and that it was the most infamous neighborhood in San Francisco until my mom said so. My mom laughed nervously "Ha! We just walked through the Tenderloin... Let's just pretend that never happened." After that encounter I saw the underbelly of society as a more fascinating and serious issue. I couldn't help but want to hear these people's stories and want to know what brought them here but in a non–judgemental way. The more I walked around San Francisco, the more I saw the homeless. Some of them it was clear that they were so mentally ill they couldn't get a job. There were others who didn't have the money or resources to get into rehab. I thoroughly enjoyed our trip but it opened my eyes to the reality of society and that I should be grateful for the things I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. My Timelapse Of Wellesley Project My process was very solid for my Timelapse of Wellesley project. When planning how to execute the project, we were told to create a timeline. I agreed with what the teachers told us to do. So, I estimated how long it would take for each step to be completed and put it on my phone calendar. For my process, the first step I did was to research and find places around Wellesley that had history. I also wanted to include a scenic location. Second, I went out to capture a time–lapse of the contemporary locations. I did this step in two days because it required a lot of time getting to these locations, and capturing the moment. Third, I edited my photos to make the time–lapse. I incorporated the genre melodic dubstep to help the viewer relax and take in the work I produced. My final step was to write a small essay about the history of our town to fulfill my history discipline. Also, I wrote about the dump and what items can be recycled and what items can't be. This was for my science discipline. My art discipline was my time–lapse I made in Imovie and uploaded to Youtube. I used my photography... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mainly, I could increase the amount of time we had. It requires a lot of time to make a timelapse that is longer in length than a minute. In addition, if I had a better computer and a better editing software my time lapse would be better. I struggled dealing with "low disk space" on my harddrive so I had to constantly delete old photos and stuff on my computer I didn't need. Furthermore, I would like to work with a partner. Working with a partner would allow me to have more photos and would make this long process more efficient. My greatest success of the project was probably writing about the history of Wellesley and also the Wellesley Dump. This was the main success because of the unique data I found and wrote about. My project is very unique compared to many other students. Overall, I enjoyed the work which I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Song Diplo-Revolution A Revolution The moments that matter are the ones that you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life and the song Diplo– Revolution (absence remix) is a song that can ignite those moments. This song can be classified in the dubstep genre but because the original song is considered to be EDM (Electric Dance Music) it is mixed up between the two genres. Kai (Alessia De Gasperis Brigante) is the song writer and vocalist. She describes a value that she wants people to hear through her lyrics. Kai was introduced to EDM by writing and singing for a very popular DJ named Diplo (Thomas Pentz). Kai stimulates feelings and emotion in the song Diplo–Revolution, she gives a different approach to EDM listeners, and she rises to become a more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... EDM is not a genre that people hear or talk about on a daily basis but given the information above you know a little bit more about this type of music. Not all EDM is considered to be about sex, drugs, and alcohol actually in most circumstances there are EDM songs that have no meaning at all. This particular song makes people think about what they are listening to instead of just listening to the melody of the music. • 4. Music Classification Essay The one thing that clearly defines America is the music. The music of this generation is incredible.First off you can listen to anything you want with no judgment, You can even make Devoted friends over the music. You have Jazz music and Musicals, Pop and Rap, Hardcore and Deathcore music,Kpop and Dubstep, you name it it's out there somewhere and you can listen to it.Therefore so many people go to music types on an impulse.Consequently I listen to almost every kind of music, I like to have my friends send me music they're into. I can learn more about that friend; the music someone listens to really does say a lot about them. There's plenty of overlap, of course, and these are incredibly broad distinctions that don't take a lot of other genres into consideration. But it's probably fair to say that these were the most defining moments in music for each generation." This was taken from an article called The Sound of a Generation. This clearly shows that music defines a generation, therefore also defines America. Music is truly amazing, it really defines our social rankings and groups. For instance, people who dress more "grunge", tend to lean more towards rock and metal. While the theater kids lean more towards Musicals and sometimes Jazz. People who listen to everything like me, we tend to not have a group and flow gracefully between groups. The there are some people who don't fancy music in the least, they tend to have a harder time making friends. Not only that but there is a song that we adopted to sing at every game before it starts, The National ... • 5. Siddhartha Hero's Journey Is it the goal, or is it the journey? Although this seems like a complicated question it is in fact simple, as is the reason to why, there is no goal without the journey. Seen through almost all aspects of life the journey is the true story, whereas the goal is just an ending point that is often altered or changed completely. In the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse the goal metamorphosizes after all of the obstacles and trials the main protagonists underwent, into something different than what was originally the main aim in his life. The two documentaries God Grew Tired of Us narrated by Nicole Kidman and Dive! Showcasing that the journey of each human being is not as important as the final goal God had in place when he first put people with each other on Earth (Ronblue99, 2008). In the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a short video based off the book series from Douglas Adams the people shown in the clip spend their already ephemeral lives relying on the hope that one day the Supercomputer will inform them what the meaning of life is. Centuries pass and they do not learn anything, never allowing themselves to experience any of life's trials and victories because they are so absorbed in the need for knowledge and nirvana they believe will be gained from the answer to "The Question" (warmandreal, 2010). In The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost the speaker is experiencing the vicissitudes of human emotion as they stand at the fork in the forest, attempting to make the right choice to go down the better path. This poem symbolizes how a person can have the goal in mind of getting to their destination and therefore choose a path that they believe is better and claiming to desire to come again in the future to find out what the other path held and stating that the path he choice was the least traveled to justify the speaker's actions (Frost, 1916). This displays that when a person is occupied by a set goal they could possibly miss vital lessons, visuals, opportunities, and experiences in life because they do not have enough time to stray from their path long enough to learn or see anything that might deter them (Frost, ... • 6. Is Jazz Really Dead Essay Jazz. A label associated with brass, dance and America. A music filled with so much life and force– but to the general appeal, it appears to be dying. Drowning amongst pop songs and dubstep, it seems that the fate of jazz will resemble the one of dusty library books that have never seen the time of day. But is Jazz truly dead? Or does it – to quote Frank Zappa – just smell funny? About a century ago jazz was considered as popular music and was considerably the most influential movement at the time. In 1920, jazz had infected Kansas City and it could be heard on every corner of each street. It began around the early 1900s, when African American musicians congregated in the city of New Orleans. In the town of Storyville, musicians would share and improvise their music. Eventually, some musicians would leave New Orleans to share the "New Orleans music." By the 1920s, after jazz had entered the vocabulary in 1917, indie music companies began recording jazz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even some teenagers disagree with the statement of jazz being dead. "I know jazz isn't dead because a lot of people listen to it. It's just like – our generation, we tend to listen to more like pop and rap rather than jazz. But jazz is like – it used to be the "pop" of a generation so – and it's pretty cool, it's funky." says Sabrina, a student who indulges in chillstep rather than jazz. Other students agree, saying it's not dead but rather, as Vincent says, "it's just not as popular as it used to be." So maybe jazz isn't dead. Perhaps we mistake the decrease in attention and exposure for a slow death. The jazz scene might not be as big as it once was, but music is always changing and jazz was the product of change. It may not top MTV charts and big bands may seem to be low in number but in my eyes, jazz isn't dying – because as we speak now, a child picks up a saxophone, or a trumpet, or maybe drum sticks and decides at this very moment that jazz is the one for ... • 7. The Influence Of Grime And Trap Music On The Media And... Grime and trap music have slowly found their way to the top of mainstream popular music culture over the last decade. Grime is now one of Britain's largest and well known musical styles as it is taking over from American Hip Hop and can be widely heard over radio stations such as "Capital 95.8fm" and "Kiss 100 Fm". What Jazz was from the 1920s to 40's or what R&B was between the 70's to 80's. Like most genres of music which have made mainstream popularity such as Rock n Roll, Grime too tends to have negative perception on the genre and within mainstream outlets, therefore impacting on the public perception of the music and the culture that it has sprung from. Throughout this assignment I will be looking at the negative representations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grime has gigantic potential, both commercially and artistically. But it 's always failed to live up to expectations, and violence is partly to blame. Most promoters now find it impossible to put on grime in clubs, because grime nights have been unofficially outlawed by the police. Deja Vu FM, Rinse FM, Flex FM, Freeze FM, Axe FM were some of the first radio stations illegally held up in high–rise flats in and around London town. which started to play the grime music. Rinse FM now has a full licence, as do some of the others, but online radio stations are the way forward now. Grime began as a London based movement, yet rapidly keeps running into debate when various live events were disturbed by rival groups and crews, authorizing issues or police interference. Violence has regularly hidden out of sight, from unpredictable MC Crazy Titch getting imprisoned for murder in 2005 at the height of his fame, to grime demonstrates getting kicked off the pirate radio station Rinse FM in December 2006. Most of grime 's stars, come from deprived London boroughs like Hackney and Newham, where gun crime is out of control. But it may also have something to do with the sound itself – unlike two–step garage, its predecessor, grime is intrinsically claustrophobic and furious. Grime 's only 2004 chart hit, Lethal B 's Pow!, was famously banned from several clubs for starting too many fights. In POW! also known as Forward Rhythm , a verse by ... • 8. Gender Stereotypes In Advertising Upon first glance the commercials the media use seem to discriminate based upon gender, however, this is not the case. Many factors are researched and focus groups are gathered before many commercials are created and when created they are used to appeal to certain people. An example of this is toy companies, they create their items based upon the questions asked to children. When questioning the children what toys they always play with girls tend to respond with dolls and princess play items and boys tend favor the cars and sports items. Using this as their marketing key, they can sell their toys with more assurance that the item will be popular. Music uses the same basic marketing strategy, find out what the people like and one is almost guaranteed a positive outcome. Recently the fad is Dubstep and marketing for this music started in the early 2000's in England and has made its way into the United States. Dubstep has become more commercially successful in the early 2010's with more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The research that is compiled by the companies that sell the items go to great lengths so that their items are recognized. Do you overlook the meaning and see it as a representation of the type of music played in the 80s, Pop/Rock? Or maybe you see a significance that reaches far beyond just a type of music. Maybe you notice that this 8–Track represents not only music, but also innovation at the time. You look at it and realize that back then, people had to listen to these tapes through an audio cassette player. They also had to personally go out and buy the tape from a music store because there were no iPods with internet access to millions of albums. You think about The E–Street Band in the studio playing their instruments to record the background music into microphones. You think about how much work had to go into making this small, low quality 8–Track. You realize how much manual labor actually meant at the time. Also how far technology has come. Normally, we would only care about the tone of ones' voice when we hear them sing, but Frith's point of view is totally different. He states specifically that a singer's voice is categorized into four parts: voice as a musical instrument; voice as a body; voice as a person; and voice as a character (187). Personally, I found it very interesting of how he categorized the voice into these four parts because I had never thought about categorizing the singers' voice into four different criteria. However, I'll focus with the voice as a musical instrument. Frith argued that, "Voices can be used, like any other instrument, to make a noise of the right sort at the right time" (187). I agree with him because every one of us has a unique vocal range, which means that there are people that could sing on very high notes while others could only sing on low notes so you would have to figure out on what you are capable of and know how to control your singing style is also an important key. With that in mind, when a person sings, they need to sing the song with all their soul and heart and they must treat their voice like a musical instrument so the audiences could hear and feel a certain pitch coming from the singer's ... This album is fun not only because the songs have great, mostly upbeat rhythm but also because he experiments with lots of sounds and genres in the album. You have everything from a lite dubstep, "Thunderstruck" (feat. Sarah Russell), to a country sound, "Back Home" (feat. Jake Owen) and everything in between. Besides teaming up with British Trance artist Sarah Russell and country singer Jake Owen, but also the amazing Aloe Blacc, boy band Hanson, and contemporary Christian artist Nicole Britt. So taking us on this musical journey is done with a little help... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sarah Russell's voice (somewhat reminiscent of Ellie Goulding) melds well with Adam Young's. It's just a fun love song. Alas, this is followed by probably my least favorite song on the album, "Unbelievable." This should be a fun nostalgic song looking back to the childhood of their generation. It comes off as bit dull song which list of things without any clever lyrics to tie it together. A clever rap with good transitions could hav3e worked with what is, essentially, a long list. This just doesn't work. It is "Unbelievable." Now, admittedly, someone that had their shared experiences could find forgiveness in the list with their own nostalgic memories. "Bird with a Broken Wind" stands in stark contrast to the bubble–gum pop of "Unbelievable," taking on those who see the world primarily fraught with danger and loss. Clearly this is someone whose experience have left them with scared and broken where the song grapples with how you live in the wake of those experiences: "It feels like I'm a lone survivor /Forgotten in a dark and deadly world/And on my own/I walk alone/To see the sun again/I'd give anything/But life demands a final chapter/A story we all must leave behind/It's do or die/And this is mine/The anthem of a bird with a broken ... • 30. An Essay About Edm A New Type Of Music "EDM" EDM is a real music. Since 1980, electronic music first appeared in nightclub, and soon became popular. It also being highly accepted in nowadays society. Furthermore, EDM had been widely used in many singer songs, for instance, "Not today", a song from a Korea's boy band, also a famous song "let me love you", which made by both DJ Snake and Jutin Bieber. EDM is not just a club music. However, cause the electronic music doesn't involve any instrument, some critics oppose the idea that EDM is a genre of music. The argument about EDM has been sustained for a long time, it's time for those rigid people accept the new technology. EDM doesn't really mean electronic dance music. In people's common sense, musics are all create with instruments, can EDM also count as a music, which break up the tradition. The definition for music shouldn't be that confined. In the ancient time, there's no "instrument", people knocked desks, bowls, bows as the beats for their songs. With time elapsing, "instrument" been created, and defined as instrument. Let's say instrument is a thing which give people beats and complete the song. As well as electronic device also can give people beats and complete songs, electronic dance music can also be a music. I had read a article about whether EDM can be a genre music. In this article, author mentioned a important idea that who or which group of people can decided the genre of music. In my opinion, no one can decided it. Music is a thing about emotion, everyone have different emotion. We can't say somebody's emotion is wrong. The things is, when we heard a song, a group of people may have the same felling about it, they may like it and become fans, they may not like it, then just skip it and find another song they like. Postmodern Pluralism Postmodern Pluralism and its Effect on Truth and Reconciliation Art: Going Home Star In 2008, the government created a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, hereafter referred to as TRC, committed to the tasks of discovering the truth about Canada's Indian Residential Schools, revealing this truth to all Canadians, and attempting to reconcile the relationship between Indigenous and non–Indigenous Canadians. One of the ways the TRC suggested to facilitate this reconciliation process is through the creative arts. Indeed, in the last few years, Canada has seen a host of artistic projects launched which seek to heal and reconcile this relationship, these projects will hereafter be referred to as 'reconciliation art'. One of the most prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to representing different cultural traditions, postmodernism tends to combine and present both "classical and vernacular traditions," within a culture (classical in the colloquial sense, not just music belonging to the classical era). In doing so, it sets itself up as anti–elitist, as it does not distinguish between 'high' and 'low' culture in the same way modern music did. Postmodernism is, at its core, a rejection of modernist traits; therefore since modernism was only for an elite few, postmodernism aims to reach out and appeal to a larger audience. Going Home Star explores many different genres of music throughout the piece. Take, for example, the opening sequence. In the first twenty minutes, we hear influences from "big band music, dubstep, hip–hop, Swan Lake and anything in between." Swan Lake is an example of 'classical' music while big band, dubstep, and hip–hop are all forms of vernacular music. This notion of anti–elitism was very important to Hatzis when composing Going Home Star, because he wanted any audience member to be able to connect with the music, even if they aren't trained in classical music. His main consideration was to not "alienate our native population." Reconciliation art must fight against elitism in order to not alienate any audience members. Anti–elitism, through pluralism of genre, is another element of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Steve Aoki is an American electro house musician, record producer and founder of Dim Mak Record. Datsik is a Dubstep DJ and music producer from British Columbia, Canada. "The Brown Bag Series" was an instrumental concert consisting of six people, one being Professor Golove, who played instruments such as the cello, the double bass, and the piano. A lot of the notes are often "shuffled notes" which mainly comes from jazz–influenced music, where they would be referred to as "swing." According to John Mello, "a shuffle note is a practice in which some notes with equal written time values are performed with unequal durations, usually as alternating long and short." The tempo of dubstep is almost always in the "range of 138–142 beats per minute, with a clap or snare usually inserted every third beat in a bar." House music is an upbeat and dance oriented style of music. This concert consisted of non–stop dancing and everyone going wild. One big characteristic of electro house music is that it features a "drop" in every song or several times in a song. The music will be playing at a slow or medium speed and then all of the sudden the beat "drops" into a powerful, unpredictable beat. These drops come off really well in a live performance and usually make the crowed respond by dancing intensely. Electro house tracks usually range from 5 to 6 minutes in length with a gradual build up beat which makes it easier to synch the current song with the next song. With so many genres of music there is always something new or different in the music industry, good music will always be around and there will always be new sounds to keep you entertained. With so many different types of music out there, there is most likely something for everybody to enjoy. Most of the music that I listen to is either rap, hip–hop, rock, or trap. Trap is a more recent style of music that sort of combines lyrics into a beat that hits hard and is fast paced. Trap became really popular about 3 years ago, and is still a very popular genre. Out of all the music I listen to, I have no favorite genre. What I listen to just depends on my mood, or what i'm doing. I usually find myself listening to rap, or hip–hop at first, and then I switch it up and start to listen to other types of music. When I listen to rap, some of the artists that I listen to are Lil Uzi, Lil Yachty, Famous Dex, and Kodak Black. These are just a few of the rap artists I like and support. I then shook both off and went to rap and hip hop. Once I tried those I started to change. I was noticing that a lot of what I was taught I was also throwing right out the door. I did change from it but here is how the story goes. I was hanging out with my cousin Gill who was listening to Eminem and said "come listen to this" I was like well its ok but not my favorite. It brought me to dark depressing music which started to lead me back to depression. I grew up fatherless and my only father figure was a piece of crap. I had been dealing with depression since I was in about the fourth or fifth grade only mild but still there. I had slowly started to deal with it and cope with it when I found that music.
