Technology Effect On Teenagers
Technology throughout the years has become more advance and has allowed for people around the world to stay connected, but has technology really
made it possible for society to interact with one another? With the use of technology, staying in touch with friends and family is easy. There are
numerous social media apps, such as, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram that allow for such easy communication, however, the use of these
apps to "stay connected" is having the opposite effect and is leading to people feeling alone. Technology has made people feel more alone by causing
students to feel depressed or burned out from school, sleep deprivation, can lead to risks such as death or guilt, and causing those who use technology to
miss out on events and social gatherings.
To begin, technology has had negative effects in the behavior pattern of adolescents. There has been recent research done to study how technology has
affected the behavior of teenagers.According to the article, "The Dark Side of Internet Use: Two Longitudinal Studies of Excessive Internet Use,
Depressive Symptoms, School Burnout and Engagement Among Finnish Early and Late Adolescents," "Simultaneously with supporting creative social
activities, socio–digital participation may also lead to compulsive and addictive behavioral patterns affecting both general and school–related mental
health problems" (344.) School–related mental health problems such as depression and school burnout are examples. Depression

Texting Over Calling Research Paper
There are about 18.7 billion texts sent per day. That is a lot of texts, considering there are about seven billion people in the world. The big question
is, why do cellphone users choose texting over calling, or calling over texting. The texting vs calling debate has been going on since SMS, short
message service aka "texts", were created by Neil Papworth in 1992. Many people state that texting is more efficient to the demands of everyday life,
but opponents will argue that texting is impersonal and can sometimes lead to the "wrong message". Texting is faster and more efficient than phone
calls. Text messaging encourages more brief conversations instead of a long phone calls which gives users more time to think about what they

Indians (Native Americans) to celebrate their friendships. This was called "The First Thanksgiving." Thanksgiving is still celebrated every year on the

In order to move forward on the Constitution, the states compromised and made Congress as a bicameral legislative body. Without the Great
Compromise, there might not be the Constitution or US Government as we know it today. Background: Two plans were put forth during the
Constitutional Convention to create the new branches of government. The Virginia Plan wanted a strong national government with three branches. The
legislature would have two houses. One would be directly elected by the people and the second would selected by the first house from people
nominated by the state legislatures. Further, the president and national judiciary would be chosen by the national legislature. On the other hand, the
New Jersey Plan wanted a more decentralized plan amending the old Articles yet allowing for a somewhat stronger government. Each state would
have one vote in Congress. The Great Compromise combined these two plans creating our current legislature with two houses, one based on population
and elected by the people and the other house allowing two senators per state being appointed by state legislatures. (Direct election of Senators began
after the 17th amendment was ratified in 1913.) Bicameralism a legislative body having two branches, houses, or chambers 3/5th's Compromise

Table of contents Chapter 1. Introduction Background In the past it was never clear that the cell phone would have such an important status in today's
society. But the development of the cell phone into a smartphone proves this statement right. This includes transformations, besides the normal
functionalities of a phone like text messaging, receiving and making calls. A smartphone's operating system reflects the users lifestyle because it
controls the choice of applications, the general features and functionality in a phone. However the mobile market is fragmented amongst the
following software platforms or operating systems; WebOS, BlackBerry OS, Windows phone formerly known as (Windows Mobile OS), Android
OS, Meego OS, Bada OS, Symbian OS, iPhone OS, and Tizen OS. Due to the continues advancement in the technology of a smartphone, each
smartphone needs an operating system in order for it to reach its full capacity in today's world, however a phone is not smart on till it is powered by an
operating system. i.e. phone manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, SonyEricson etc. Play a role by manufacturing a phone (hardware) with the
demand and capability of running this software, which is the OS inside. This simply means that the phone (hardware) is the infrastructure, while an

The Importance Of Accessibility On Your Patients
The Importance of Accessibility When you are accessible to your patients, they trust you. Your patients know that if they have an emergency at 2 a.m.,
they have a way to contact you. With the technological advancements in communication, patients expect their healthcare providers to take advantage of
texting, emailing, calling and social media; therefore, if you disregard these methods of communication, you may lose potential clients. Furthermore,
accessibility builds loyalty because your patients are more likely to return and recommend your practice when your systems are accessible.

A Brief History of the Cellar Phone
There have been many inventions that have served Americans, but very few have had an overall impact on the course of humanity as the cell phone.
The history of cell phones has been compared to our discovery of fire and the invention of the wheel. This is partly due to its adaptability to many
aspects of human life, as well as its mobility to influence and reach geographical areas that extend to global ones. Around the world, cell phones are
used in schools, corporate conglomerates, even religious institutes. Although use of them in cars has been banned in many American states, they
continue to govern the way we live our lives. From its advent, the cell phone has changed the way humans not only communicate, but how information

The first one was the infrastructure needed. There was great need to create a system that would be easily adaptable within these occupations, while at
the same time offering security and reliability without interfering with each other. A cell phone works as a series of non–invasive processes and
actions. When a person dials a number on a handset, this number is converted into an electronic signal. This signal is then relayed to a base station.
The base stations are also known as masts and they are the towers seen along road sides and atop buildings. From these towers, the electronic signal
is transferred from one base station to another as it seeks a corresponding receiver in the form of another handset. When this signal matches, the
phone rings and it can only be regarded as connected when the other party takes the call. This amazing technological advancement opened up new
avenues in how we communicate. In the near future, a new process, "LTE, or 'Long Term Evolution,' is the new globally accepted 4G wireless
standard. All of the U.S. carriers are turning it on" (PC Magazine).Communication can also be considered as another process. The audio signal form
one speaker is transformed into an electronic signal when it gets into the mobile phone. This is transferred to the recipient phone as an electronic signal
and then transformed back into the original audio format. This is how an individual manages to speak with another even when

Factors Influencing the Adoption of Mobile Banking
Factors influencing the use of Mobile Banking:
The case of SMS–based Mobile Banking offered
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Mobile banking is an application of mobile computing which provides customers with the support needed to be able to bank anywhere, anytime using
a mobile handheld device and a mobile service such as text messaging (SMS). Mobile banking removes space and time limitations from banking
activities such as checking account balances, or transferring money from one account to another. In recent research and studies it was found that while
mobile banking and more specifically SMS–based mobile banking applications have become popular in some countries and regions, they were still not
widely used.

It was found that texting is not only used for general conversation, and greetings in New Zealand, but also for solving embarrassing situations such as
firing employees, marriage proposals, asking for a date, and even gathering evidence of cheating. Paul Brislen, of Vodafone NZ said Kiwis were also
world leaders when it came to downloading tunes to their handsets (Hudson, 2008).
This implied that New Zealanders are more likely to use texting than many other populations in the world. This might make it quite easy for New
Zealanders to use SMS–based mobile banking.
In Korea, in a survey done by Yong and Gorman (2002) it was found that there was a nearly 400 percent increase in the level of mobile banking
service use within 15 months, as shown in Figure

The functionality of a mobile banking service increases user's satisfaction.Furthermore, it creates the value for customers' banking transaction as a
wireless service delivery channel. However, it is a still minority of people using mobile banking in the market; a recent research has found that in
Ireland approximately 1% of consumers use mobile banking while nearly 90% of the population have mobile phones (Foley,2005). The use of mobile
banking only focuses on basic functions provided by the mobile banking service rather than more complex ones. A recent Forrester research survey

The Effects Of Being On Cell Phone While Driving
Introduction Texting by adults has increased over the past months from 65% of adults sending and receiving texts in September 2009 to 72% texting
in May 2010. Still, adults do not send nearly the same number of texts per day as teens ages 12–17, who send and receive, on average, 5 times more
texts per day than adult texters (Lenhart, 2010). Many people wonder what the affects of being on a cell phone while driving are. Does being on
your cell phone while driving actually increase your chances of having an accident? According to an article, The National Survey on Distracted
Driving Attitudes and Behaviors, "Almost half (48%) of drivers report answering their cell phone when driving at least some of the time. Two in 5
drivers (40%) report never answering their phones while driving." (Schroeder, 2012) This shows that there is a good amount of people that do use
their phone while driving. According to the latest research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2008 alone, there were 5,870
fatalities and an estimated 515,000 people were injured in police–reported crashes in which at least one form of driver distraction was reported
(Lenhart, 2010). Cell phones have been around for a while now, for this reason they have become a major part of our lives. People use cell phones for
just about everything in today's world: calling people, texting, planning daily schedules, playing games, and Internet surfing. With all the phones today

Texting vs. Calling
Texting vs. Calling Call me, definitely? Would have been the name of my hit pop song if I were Carly Rae Jepsen. Everyone with a cell phone has
the option to either text or call someone, in order to contact that person. Some people like to text and others would rather call. However, there are
several similarities and differences between the two ways of communicating. As a person you choose whether to text or call that is the way you
recognize as the best way of communicating, the best way of communicating is by calling someone. Calling definitely has more advantages than texting
and this is why calling is the better form of communication. One of the differences between texting and calling is that by calling someone they can...

It allows a deeper connection and you get to find out more of that person's personality this way. Calling is an easier way to grow a closer
relationship with someone, so if you want to get to know someone better calling them is the way to go. A phone conversation takes place on a
more personable level. Talking on the phone lets you have a longer conversation in shorter amount of time it takes less time to tell a story than to
text a story. You do not always have to have a cell phone plan you can have a landline and still be able to talk cheaper than a cell phone plan. It is a
safer way to communicate while in the car. Even though using a cell phone is "frowned" upon while you are in a car, calling is much easier and
safer. You can have a headset or some cars have cell phone sync and you can talk hands free. You shouldn't be doing this but;, if you do text and
drive you have to have the phone in one hand and also have to be looking down at the phone to see what you are saying. This just leaves you in a
very vulnerable position in a car and it is very dangerous. However, if you are calling, all you have to do is put it on speaker and place on the
passenger seat and just talk. Texting doesn't have this option of communicating through a speaker or headset. Even though not all of your attention is
on the road, it still allows you to keep both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road. Therefore, calling is much safer to do while in a

Calling Vs. Texting Appropriate Communication When Phone...
Two of the most common ways to communicate in today's age are calling and texting. There are many advantages and disadvantages to these modern
communication methods. Phone calls can help both communicators to better understand the conversation, but can be very public to people standing
nearby. On the other hand, texting is more discreet in public, but texts can make it harder to decipher the meaning behind the words. Where one option
lacks, the other provides for your needs, and vice versa.
Texts have many advantages, as well as disadvantages. The benefits of texting include quick conversations when time is scarce, and the ability for a
reserved person to communicate. Texting provides the opportunity to have immediatecommunication when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the benefits of calling include being more suitable for long conversations, as well as making sure the other person receives the message.
Calling is more appropriate for long or complex conversations because lengthy and complicated ideas are not as easy to convey with typed words.
Conversation can better move around the topic, and be better explained, when spoken words are used to get the ideas across. Furthermore, when a
telephone call is made, it can be ensured that the intended person is the one to receive the message. This does not always work with texting. No
texted reply from the other person could either mean that they didn't receive the information, or that they simply didn't feel the need to respond.
When calling, the caller will know that the answerer received the message once the phone is picked up. If the phone is not picked up, the caller will
know for certain that their message was not delivered. One of the hindrances of calling is the chance of being overheard. When words are said aloud,
anyone within earshot could hear the conversation. This can be a problem when the conversation is private, whether for personal or business reasons.

Texting Vs Calling
Technology is becoming more and more relevant to areas all over the world, especially phones. Phones, mostly used to go on social media or call and
text. However, which is better, calling, or texting? Calling, being beneficial towards professionalism, and making messages more personalized,
downfalls at the time it takes to give or leave the message. Whereas texting, the seemingly better way with its speed, and ability to easily relay a
message that remains permanent until manually deleted. However the message in texting can be misconstrued through the lack of tone and structure
that it can be given through verbal communication with calling. The benefits and downfalls of calling and texting will give a better enlightenment at
which one could decide which communication is best.
First up is the age–old technique of calling, history rich of party lines and twirling the cord in your hands, to just wanting to reach out to grandma to tell

storage can't be done with a call without going out of your way to record the call or voicemail. However there is one problem, when sending a text
it's difficult to interpret it with the lack of tone and emphasis given from a human voice. For example, "omg!!!" could envelop a wide range of
emotions, from sad, to angry, to excited. This makes it uneasy to decipher what kind of conversation will be happening, by not knowing what the initial

What I learned from the interview:
An Executive Assistant/Office Management wears many hats and many times more than one at a time. They are not the ones that make decisions but
they are the ones that have to enforce them. The assistant I interviewed is the backbones of her office and a large part of the college. She works is
responsible for ensuring all operations run efficiently. She has to know the mission, values, and services/products they offer, she has to know about
everything that is going on.
Questions I asked:
What is your role as an Executive Assistant/Office Management? "I am the gate–keeper, the organizer, the confidant, not just to my office but also to all
the direct and indirect reports and their assistants. I would say confidentiality is at the top of the list of most impotent job responsibilities. Just like in a

Texting Vs Calling Research Paper
There is great controversy of the topic that includes the differences of calling and texting. Although it is mainly an opinion based subject, there are
many ups and downs for both sides. Some advantages of texting include being able to talk to someone in a quiet environment, people have more
confidence in what they say, and people can respond when the time in covenant. Advantages of calling incorporate the ability to completely understand
what they are saying, knowing that it is just between you and this person, and is much easier to get more words across. Even though these seem like
great accommodations, there is a great downside to each of these. The main fault of texting is texting and driving. Edgar Snyder backs this up by

Roommate Research Paper
Roommate Nicole and Marie have been best friends on and off for seven years. They never got along. They would constantly fight and stop talking
for six months to a year at a time. Why go back and forth with friendship when you could never trust and rely on Nicole anyways. Nicole and Marie
decided since they were friends again (well at least for the moment) why not get an apartment together. Only if Marie actually really knew what she
was getting herself into by now actually moving into a place together. It was not even a month after moving into their apartment together where it
already was starting to go south. Marie worked a full–time and part–time job plus went to school full–time. She has brown hair, blue eyed angel is

Nicole was trying to give herself extra money for going out and drinking. She would never tell or show Marie the actual bills. Nicole also started
lying about her rent money being stolen from her car. Nicole claimed she left her purse in the car with her half of the rent money and someone
broke into her car and stole it, which makes no sense for the person she was of no windows being broken and she would lock her doors. Anything
to try and make her feel like the victim that she was not. Nicole went out and bought a chinchilla with extra money. At first she took care of him
and cleaned up after her animal. However after about a month in a half later or so of having him she decided she didn't want to take care of her
chinchilla no more and left the house stinky and nasty from not cleaning his cage. Nicole begun selling anything from couches, towels, video games
and even her pet chinchilla just so she could have extra cash for drinking and now smoking pot. Nicole decided having a dog would be better for
her. You know her own pet therapy dog. Nicole obviously never thinks of responsibilities that come with animals or in adulthood for that matter. She
did not ask the apartment managers what kind of breeds they were allowed and not allowed to have at the complex. She decided with a Boxer/Pitbull

The Pros And Cons Of The Post Office
The United States Postal Service opened their doors and started to serve the community on July 1, 1971. Their main goal was to provide an easier
way to communicate with people around the world at a promising rate. The post office has fulfilled their obligations to the community, but due to the
more efficient ways of communication, the need for the post office services has drastically gone down. The government needs to and should eliminate
the post office because they are billions of dollars in debt, there is new technology, and there are other competitors taking over the business. In the
United States Constitution, it is said that it, "gave Congress the power 'To established Post Offices and post Roads' in Article 1, Section 8" ("The
Constitution and the Post Office."). Therefore, giving them the opportunity to establish one, but it does not state that it is required by law. Any changes
regarding a part of the Constitution is subjected to go through many channels of government in order to be approved. Due to Congress running the Post
Office, they are unable to keep up with the changes in society, which has ultimately led to the plummet of the Post Office. Barbara Dolan attempted to
sue the United States Postal Service claiming that she was injured due to the placement of packages left on her porch. Dolan first proposed
"administrative relief from the Postal Service" for her injuries, but unfortunately, her request was denied. She, therefore, tried to sue "the United

Southwest Airlines
Distribution Strategy: Southwest Airlines
Introduction
Southwest Airlines (SWA) is a "passenger airline company, principally focused on offering scheduled air transportation in the U.S." (Logistics
Business Review, 2010). SWA also offers a supply chain of travel services to its passengers such as air, car, hotel, cruise and vacation packages and
other services including selling credits to various business partners that include credit card companies, hotels, telecommunication companies and rental
car agencies (Logistics Business Review, 2010). For SWA, a component of providing the highest quality of Customer Service and a stable work
environment is low fares which SWA achieves by keeping their costs low (Southwest Airlines Co., 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ASMs measure an airline's passenger capacity and are calculated by first multiplying the number of available seats on a flight, occupied and vacant,
by the number of miles flown for that particular flight, then the airline finds its collective ASMs by adding each individual flight's ASMs for a given
period (Southwest Airlines Co., 2010). In 2009 SWAs ASM was 98 billion and in 2010 ASM was 98.4 billion showing a steady increase in
productivity (Southwest Airlines Co., 2010).
Other measures of productivity are labor productivity where output is measured in terms of passenger–miles and ton–miles and revenue passenger
miles (RPM) (Fini & Parast, 2010). RPMs measure an airline's traffic and represent the number of paying passengers who fly on the airline
multiplied by the total number of miles they fly over a specific period of time (Southwest Airlines Co., 2010). SWAs RPM was 74.5 billion in 2009
and 78 billion in 2010, again showing an increase in productivity.
In 2007, while the airline industry responded to a hike in fuel costs and a decline in commercial air travel with leaner domestic flight schedules, SWA
optimized their flight schedules and routes to offer a preferred, more robust network for customers despite no year–over–year growth in available seat

Cellphones Today ( Benefits And Detriments )
Introduction: Cellphones Today (Benefits and Detriments). Cell phones, which happen to be one of the greatest technological inventions of the 20th
century has become one of the addictions in the world. This obsession/addiction stems from the technological and social capabilities of cellphones;
ranging from the messaging system, the ease of calling because of its portability, the apps that could be downloaded to it, games, and all other
capabilities. Apart from the calling and text messaging abilities of mobile pones, they also have apps Facebook, instagram, snapchat, YouTube, twitter,
Skype. No wonder it has the potential of being addicting. Although cell phones are also presently used to make communication easier and faster, for...

A recent study by the pew research center in 2014 found that 30% percent of people aged 18–29 have used their phone to avoid social interaction with
people (Pew Report, 2010). The health effects of cellphone abuse includes eye problem as a result of staring at the phone screen for a long period
of time, cancer, as a result of the radiofrequency emission of energy from the phone, and all other health issues (Volkow et al., 2011). Mentally, the
overuse of cellphones has been seen to result into problems like social anxiety, insomnia, and among students the inability to fully concentrate on
academics (Acharya, et al., 2013). A recent study done at Baylor and Seton Hall universities evaluated cellphone, text messaging and instant
messaging among students. This study showed that the average college student checks their cellphone about 60 times a day, spends an average of 9
hours on their phones everyday sends and gets text messages about 109.5 times a day (Roberts & Pirog, 2013). These rates are alarming and could
lead to lack of concentration in academics. The lack of concentration as a result of cellphone overuse among students leads to things like
procrastination as a result of them not knowing what to focus on for readings, assignments, and essays. This could in turn lead to poor academic
performance and frustration as a result of them not knowing how

Technology Essay : The Aftermath Of Technology
The Aftermath of Technology We live in a world today where everything that we do, we are assisted majorly by technology. Whether that is us
Communicating on Facebook or buying things off Amazon we also have technology to help get from one destination to another. Technology is
one of our biggest inventions and we have come to a point where it helps us do everything but where do we draw the line to say enough technology
is enough? Or when do we rightfully blame technology for the corruption it has caused in the world. Technology has a way of impacting the way
we think and live. "Technology can alter the actual wiring of the brain." (Deloatch, 2015). There has been a lot of success with technology, but
with all this success comes with a lot of downfalls. The way you can look at us and technology is as we are King Midas and our golden touch in
this case is technology, but not everything we touch turns to technology more in the sense everything we touch is technology. Children of today
have technology at their fingertips, if you look back to about 15 years ago kids didn't have a smartphone or a tablet and if they did they weren't as
impressive as they are today. "Children now rely on technology for the majority of their play." (Rowan, 2013). A long time ago you could find almost
every child outside playing and running around and if you didn't that was because it was raining or they were sick, but Today majority of the running

Texting Vs Calling Research
Texting vs. Calling
Which is better?
Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, "If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships–the ability of all peoples, of all
kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace." The foundation of a human relationship is communication. Undoubtedly, without decent
communication skills, the ability to form relationships would be virtually non–existent. Throughout the years, our means of communication have
graduated from "snail" mail to email, landline phone calls to mobile phone communication, and most recently the evolution of texting. What on Earth
would we do without the ability to text? Would we send each other letters? Would we call someone every single time we have a question? The
convenience of texting appeals to society, instead of developing relationships through the menial labor of talking. Both forms of communication have
its advantages and disadvantages, although some are more prominent than others. While both are forms of communication, one might argue which is
more convenient than the other, which one conveys tone better, and which one has a more positive societal impact. ... Show more content on

For instance, when texting, the person has to await a response from the person they are messaging. On the other hand, when calling someone, the
response is nigh instantaneous. Of course, when talking, it is impossible to edit the current conversation. Texting allows people to metaphorically think
before they speak, whereas when calling someone while angry, words might be exchanged that are unable to be taken back, especially in the heat of
the moment. Although numerous things can be done with texting, contacting an emergency service provider is not one of them. However, it is easy to
call emergency operators with a quick dial of 911. Thus, convenience over safety is not

Authenticity
Final Draft: Slater vs Turkle
How can Turkle's concept of "authenticity" help us see Slater in a new way?
Both face–to–face interaction and social networking sites (including Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook) are forms of staying in contact with friends and
family. While Nora from Turkle's "Alone together" communicates her engagement and wedding date via email to her closest friends and family, she
could have easily announced it face–to–face, at a party or through a Facebook event. While there are many ways of communicating information, the
authenticity of these interactions as well as its importance is up for debate. For Turkle, face–to–face interaction is to social networking as the tortoise is

The changes are for one temporary: in simply "adjust[ing] the settings, turning the frequency, current, and pulse up or down," one can go from feeling
"revved" to having a "peculiar wash of sadness."(Slater, pages 2–3) In "evening" Mario out in such a way, it is clear that psychosurgery is inducing
superficial changes that lead to inauthentic interactions. Even the wife notes the extraordinary change in Mario, remarking "You're like the Energizer
Bunny" upon seeing him go from a person who would back up at the sight of "golden smear of shit" to one who can now "hear her breathe...unafraid to
hold her hand. (Slater, pages 1–3)" The dramatic nature of these temporary changes is in fact what is most troubling. In "Who Holds the Clicker,"
Heath performs electrode surgery on a homosexual man. By firing electrodes in his pleasure center while having him watch movies of heterosexual
encounters, he is able to turn said man (identified as B–19) into a "newly made man" (Slater, pages 1)within 17 days. Although the electrode surgery on
the homosexual man was supposed to be a good deed, in actuality the homosexual man did not conserve his individuality. As such, one can see that
striving to forge face–to–face interaction comes at the expense of yourself. In contrast, technology like Skype, Facebook and/or texting enables human
beings to clearly present themselves on their social networks while allowing human beings to create or keep connections with others. Facebook profiles

Which is why we believe that fantasy football functions effectively as a discourse community. Scholar John Swales has done a lot of research and
work to help others effectively understand the concepts of discourse communities. John Swales proposes six defining characteristics that are necessary
and sufficient for identifying a group of individuals as a discourse community. Swales' very first step says "a discourse community has a broadly
agreed set of common public goals" (Swales 220) which are achieved in a variety of ways including the "mechanisms of intercommunications among its
members" (Swales 221). "A discourse community utilizes and hence possesses one or more genres in the communicative furtherance of its aims"
(Swales 221). With these given characteristics we believe that fantasy football functions as a discourse community among different men and woman.
Although fantasy football is not an academic discourse community, it can certainly help add to the question if

Mobile Phones And Its Effect On Different Levels
Mobile phones use has increase dramatically throughout the past two decades. It is estimated that the number of worldwide mobile phone subscribers
per 100 inhabitants have jumped from 3 in 1997 to 97 subscribers in 2014 (ITU 2014). While in developed countries mobile phones have exceeded the
number of people (BBC 2007), the growth rate of subscribers in developing countries is reported to be the largest (BBC 2005). Mostly due to
insufficient landline infrastructure. As a matter of fact, some predicted the "death" of the landline due to the takeover of cellular phones as a disruptive
technology (Thompson 2005). Moreover, mobile phones have not only put the landline market under threat, but also personal computers; it has been
indicated that the ratio of search queries sent from mobile devices to those from personal computers have increased rapidly and merely between the
years 2010 and 2011 (Church et al., 2012). The introduction of the mobile phone has consequently introduced a number of impacts on different levels.
Namely economical, environmental, human health and human behavior. In this report we are particularly concerned with the latest. As mobile use
expand among groups and by individuals, the number of features and functionalities within a single handset is also increasing. And with the
introduction of new trends, functionalities and social media, mobiles use has thus increased, vice–versa. The integration of built in cameras, location

Pastors need mentors, mentees, and true peers. I have enjoyed a long–standing relationship with two pastor colleagues both in very different places in
life and ministry. Yet, even from these different places, all three of us share some very basics understandings and needs as we strive to serve the
church. Rev. Bev Dempsey and Rev. Nikki Brown Rice are the two selectedclergy persons I chose for this connection exercise. All the best plans were
intended to email and create a great long thread of emails to turn in. One thing we all have in common is that we are much better face–to–face
connections than in email. Therefore, when given the chance to decide to connect through email versus personal conversations, we all agreed on
personal conversations.
My background includes serving in ministry for sixteen years in a few different roles. I began as a youth pastor and associate pastor. Rev. Nikki Brown
Rice was a part of my very first youth group students. It has been over fourteen years since I was her youth pastor, but we reconnected when she felt
called to ministry and entered seminary. Now that she in her very first full–time appointment as a young pastor out of seminary, I serve as her

definition of respect is to consider worthy of high regard. There are different forms of respect, the word respect is defined as the condition of being

When you are at work there are so many rules you have to follow when it comes to respecting your co–workers. For example, there's is a various
amount of beautiful women at your workplace and you tend to gain interest in the person other than business relationship. I would advise not to do
it due to the fact that it may come off as a form of disrespect. When it comes to building a relationship in the workplace it just doesn't work out so
try to stay away from that. Aside from respect, there is also disrespect. From being slapped by someone to being publically humiliated, disrespect
is alive and well in today's society. Just like respect, disrespect also comes in different forms. Verbal disrespect is a form of disrespect seen
virtually everywhere. Raising your voice to an adult in public, using harsh words towards one another are some examples of verbal disrespect.
Verbal disrespect does not always appear to be disrespect. For example, cutting someone off while they are speaking and lying and manipulation.
When you cut somebody off when they are speaking that shows the person that you are not listening to them and don't care about what they have to
say. Many people are being verbally disrespected but do not notice it because it is not always as harsh as other forms of disrespect. Another form of
disrespect is technological disrespect. Many people are disrespected and humiliated on social networks such Facebook, Twitter, and etc. But it doesn't

Cell Phones : Pro Vs. Con
Cell Phones: Pro vs. Con Cell phones have come a long way since April 3, 1973 when the first phone was invented. The first call in history was made
that day by Motorola employee Martin Cooper, as he stood next to a 900 MHz base station in New York City and phoned to the headquarters of Bell
Labs in New Jersey (The Cellphone Turns 40: Remembering Martin Cooper's Historic Call). Since that day, cell phones have evolved to become what
is now a all–in–one master piece. A current cell phone removes the need for various gadgets and replaces it with the click of just one button. Cell
phones were first created to be strong, durable and not for long distance calling. Now, ordinary cellphones have evolved to the point where they are
called smart phones. Although this incredible invention has changed our lives, it remains in debate of whether it was for the good or bad. The
usage of cell phones is becoming tremendously fashionable in today's innovative world. With the iPhone selling over $10 million worth of product
in the first 3 days of its release, it is no question that cell phone popularity in today's society is extremely crucial because these technologically
advanced devices can record and capture videos, pictures, and even connect to the Internet for easy web surfing (First Weekend iPhone Sales Top 10

How Social Media Affects Teenagers
Teenagers and Social Media
Bing! Chloe, Andie's friend, texted her wanting to know if they can hang out later. They then proceed to talk about their day and all of the juicy middle
school gossip going around. Most teenagers would concur that this is "the norm" nowadays. Teenagers find talking in person or on the phone too
intimidating and as a result, find themselves challenged when trying to form new relationships. Teenagers tend to do most of their communicating
online. By communicating online, they escape having to face each other and have real conversations; thus, causing teenagers to have subpar
communication skills. In How Social Media Affects Teenagers the author states, "For one thing, modern teens are learning to do most of their... Show

In How Social Media Affects Teenagers the author states, "It's easier to keep your guard up when you're texting, so less is at stake. You aren't hearing
or seeing the effect that your words are having on the other person. because the conversation isn't happening in real time, each party can take more
time to consider a response. No wonder kids say calling someone on the phone is "too intense"–it requires more direct communication, and if you aren't
used to that it may well feel scary" (Ehmke). Only talking to one another on social media limits a teenagers social skills and ability to read each
other's body language in a face to face conversation. Young adults who don't learn how to effectively communicate in person will lack social skills in
the adult world. Amanda Ehmke, the author of How Social Media Affects Teenagers, also states, "If kids aren't getting enough practice relating to
people and getting their needs met in person and in real time, many of them will grow up to be adults who are anxious about our species' primary
means of communication–talking" (Ehmke). Young adults need to learn face to face conversation skills so that later in life they can talk to other
people and not have social anxiety. The author of The Impact Of Social Media Use On Social Skills states, "So when children use digital
communication extensively, it can curtail the face–to–face experiences necessary for them to develop and master important social skills (Giedd, 2012)"
(NY Behavioral Health). Henceforth, teenagers who do not use face to face conversation as their primary means of conversation will lack social skills

The Impact of Social Media in Teens Kids of all ages now in days are exposed to technology which scares us all. Although many parents worry that
their preschoolers or younger kids are being harmed by this kind of exposure, the kids most affected by technology now in days are teenagers or
adolescents. Social media has become so vital to teenagers; consequently, promoting anxiety, low self–esteem, depression, and an unexplainable
amount of cyber–bullying. While technology begins to increase, so does the use of social media among teens. Social media is becoming more than a
part of the world of teens it has become their entire world. Adolescents are spending hours online whether it's on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, or
Twitter. And with the uprising of smart devices, the ability to "disconnect" is becoming harder. Author Sherry Turkle wrote a book called "Alone

technology has become like a phantom limb, it is so much a part of them. These young people are among the first to grow up with an expectation of
continuous connection: always on, and always on them" (Turkle). Turkle explains the connection that these teenagers have with technology. She
realizes these kids may have grown up not knowing a world without internet or smart phones, but describes the inability to

We go out there and play the second half better than we did the first. The final score was 26–6 in favor of Clarksburg, so if you only counted the

a 2–8 record, both of those wins came in after I returned in week six. It's not about how we did as a team but what I could learn from the season as
how to really work hard for others to get them in the right position and what it means to be a true

Sherry Turgle Analysis
Sherry Turkle We as a community and generation have become dependent on technology. This is a controversial issue many find themselves on one
side or the other, although a "gray area" exists. Sherry Turkle, MIT professor, finds herself in this gray area yet, she is more lenient to dismissing
technology. She writes numerous articles such as: The Second Self: Computers and the Human Spirit (1984) and Alone Together (2011), in which she
says technology, primarily cell phones, are problematic to advancing culture. Turkle studied present technology for fifteen years, making her quite
knowledgeable on this subject. Turkle addresses technology in her essay The Flight from Conversation, but has many pros and cons to her reasoning.

The two examples earlier mentioned, the boy and old lady, address our weird connection to AI. "A high school sophomore confides to me that he
wishes he could talk to an artificial intelligence program instead of his dad about dating; he says the A.I. would have so much more in its database"
(51). The issue here is human bias, which Turkle has plenty of. An AI, short for Artificial intelligence, would have non
–biased information in its data.
The boy's father, on the other hand, would be lenient to choosing what he chose when he was in a relevant situation. An AI could give probability of
choices, where the dad would only have a wild guess. Another example she uses is with an older woman. "One of the most haunting experiences
during my research came when I brought one of these robots, designed in the shape of a baby seal, to an elder–care facility, and an older woman began
to talk to it about the loss of her child. The robot seemed to be looking into her eyes. It seemed to be following the conversation. The woman was
comforted"(51). In that situation, human bias would affect the woman's emotions negatively. Humans are free to judge her on said topic, the seal was
not programed to judge or talk back. To keep emotions to oneself has a negative impact on one's mental

Strength Of Hostage Negotiation
One of my main strength that I have as they relate to hostage negotiation is being able to stay calm. Being able to stay calm in stressful situation is a
great quality to have, especially in hostage negotiations where lives are at stake. One way I could improve this quality is by taking slower breaths. In
stressful situation breathing slow and calmly is key to staying calm. The faster your respiration is the more anxiety you feel and in very stressful
situations that anxiety can turn into panic. By taking slower breaths you helps negate the flight or fight effect and helps to keep us calm. A quality that
I consider to be a weakness of mine when it comes to hostage negotiation is my patience. Having the patience when a hostage negotiation is

Technology Effect On Teenagers

  • 1. Technology Effect On Teenagers Technology throughout the years has become more advance and has allowed for people around the world to stay connected, but has technology really made it possible for society to interact with one another? With the use of technology, staying in touch with friends and family is easy. There are numerous social media apps, such as, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram that allow for such easy communication, however, the use of these apps to "stay connected" is having the opposite effect and is leading to people feeling alone. Technology has made people feel more alone by causing students to feel depressed or burned out from school, sleep deprivation, can lead to risks such as death or guilt, and causing those who use technology to miss out on events and social gatherings. To begin, technology has had negative effects in the behavior pattern of adolescents. There has been recent research done to study how technology has affected the behavior of teenagers.According to the article, "The Dark Side of Internet Use: Two Longitudinal Studies of Excessive Internet Use, Depressive Symptoms, School Burnout and Engagement Among Finnish Early and Late Adolescents," "Simultaneously with supporting creative social activities, socio–digital participation may also lead to compulsive and addictive behavioral patterns affecting both general and school–related mental health problems" (344.) • 2. Texting Over Calling Research Paper There are about 18.7 billion texts sent per day. That is a lot of texts, considering there are about seven billion people in the world. The big question is, why do cellphone users choose texting over calling, or calling over texting. The texting vs calling debate has been going on since SMS, short message service aka "texts", were created by Neil Papworth in 1992. Many people state that texting is more efficient to the demands of everyday life, but opponents will argue that texting is impersonal and can sometimes lead to the "wrong message". Texting is faster and more efficient than phone calls. Text messaging encourages more brief conversations instead of a long phone calls which gives users more time to think about what they ... When the Pilgrims landed their ships at Plymouth Rock in the year 1621, they needed the help of the neighboring Native Americans to learn how to plant crops and grow food. After they had completed their first harvest, the Pilgrims had a feast with the Indians (Native Americans) to celebrate their friendships. This was called "The First Thanksgiving." In order to move forward on the Constitution, the states compromised and made Congress as a bicameral legislative body. Without the Great Compromise, there might not be the Constitution or US Government as we know it today. Background: Two plans were put forth during the Constitutional Convention to create the new branches of government. The Virginia Plan wanted a strong national government with three branches. The legislature would have two houses. One would be directly elected by the people and the second would selected by the first house from people nominated by the state legislatures. Further, the president and national judiciary would be chosen by the national legislature. On the other hand, the New Jersey Plan wanted a more decentralized plan amending the old Articles yet allowing for a somewhat stronger government. Each state would have one vote in Congress. The Great Compromise combined these two plans creating our current legislature with two houses, one based on population and elected by the people and the other house allowing two senators per state being appointed by state legislatures. But the development of the cell phone into a smartphone proves this statement right. This includes transformations, besides the normal functionalities of a phone like text messaging, receiving and making calls. A smartphone's operating system reflects the users lifestyle because it controls the choice of applications, the general features and functionality in a phone. The history of cell phones has been compared to our discovery of fire and the invention of the wheel. This is partly due to its adaptability to many aspects of human life, as well as its mobility to influence and reach geographical areas that extend to global ones. Around the world, cell phones are used in schools, corporate conglomerates, even religious institutes. There was great need to create a system that would be easily adaptable within these occupations, while at the same time offering security and reliability without interfering with each other. A cell phone works as a series of non–invasive processes and actions. When a person dials a number on a handset, this number is converted into an electronic signal. This signal is then relayed to a base station. The base stations are also known as masts and they are the towers seen along road sides and atop buildings. From these towers, the electronic signal is transferred from one base station to another as it seeks a corresponding receiver in the form of another handset. When this signal matches, the phone rings and it can only be regarded as connected when the other party takes the call. This amazing technological advancement opened up new avenues in how we communicate. In the near future, a new process, "LTE, or 'Long Term Evolution,' is the new globally accepted 4G wireless standard. All of the U.S. carriers are turning it on" (PC Magazine).Communication can also be considered as another process. Mobile banking removes space and time limitations from banking activities such as checking account balances, or transferring money from one account to another. Paul Brislen, of Vodafone NZ said Kiwis were also world leaders when it came to downloading tunes to their handsets (Hudson, 2008). This implied that New Zealanders are more likely to use texting than many other populations in the world. This might make it quite easy for New Zealanders to use SMS–based mobile banking. In Korea, in a survey done by Yong and Gorman (2002) it was found that there was a nearly 400 percent increase in the level of mobile banking service use within 15 months, as shown in Figure Figure 1.1: use of mobile banking in Korea Source: Journal of Online Information Review, Yong & Gorman (2002) The functionality of a mobile banking service increases user's satisfaction.Furthermore, it creates the value for customers' banking transaction as a wireless service delivery channel. The Effects Of Being On Cell Phone While Driving Introduction Texting by adults has increased over the past months from 65% of adults sending and receiving texts in September 2009 to 72% texting in May 2010. Still, adults do not send nearly the same number of texts per day as teens ages 12–17, who send and receive, on average, 5 times more texts per day than adult texters (Lenhart, 2010). Many people wonder what the affects of being on a cell phone while driving are. Does being on your cell phone while driving actually increase your chances of having an accident? According to an article, The National Survey on Distracted Driving Attitudes and Behaviors, "Almost half (48%) of drivers report answering their cell phone when driving at least some of the time. Two in 5 drivers (40%) report never answering their phones while driving." (Schroeder, 2012) This shows that there is a good amount of people that do use their phone while driving. According to the latest research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2008 alone, there were 5,870 fatalities and an estimated 515,000 people were injured in police–reported crashes in which at least one form of driver distraction was reported (Lenhart, 2010). Cell phones have been around for a while now, for this reason they have become a major part of our lives. You shouldn't be doing this but;, if you do text and drive you have to have the phone in one hand and also have to be looking down at the phone to see what you are saying. This just leaves you in a very vulnerable position in a car and it is very dangerous. However, if you are calling, all you have to do is put it on speaker and place on the passenger seat and just talk. Texting doesn't have this option of communicating through a speaker or headset. Furthermore, when a telephone call is made, it can be ensured that the intended person is the one to receive the message. This does not always work with texting. No texted reply from the other person could either mean that they didn't receive the information, or that they simply didn't feel the need to respond. When calling, the caller will know that the answerer received the message once the phone is picked up. If the phone is not picked up, the caller will know for certain that their message was not delivered. One of the hindrances of calling is the chance of being overheard. In 2007, while the airline industry responded to a hike in fuel costs and a decline in commercial air travel with leaner domestic flight schedules, SWA optimized their flight schedules and routes to offer a preferred, more robust network for customers despite no year–over–year growth in available seat miles (Southwest ... Cell phones, which happen to be one of the greatest technological inventions of the 20th century has become one of the addictions in the world. This obsession/addiction stems from the technological and social capabilities of cellphones; ranging from the messaging system, the ease of calling because of its portability, the apps that could be downloaded to it, games, and all other capabilities. A recent study by the pew research center in 2014 found that 30% percent of people aged 18–29 have used their phone to avoid social interaction with people (Pew Report, 2010). The health effects of cellphone abuse includes eye problem as a result of staring at the phone screen for a long period of time, cancer, as a result of the radiofrequency emission of energy from the phone, and all other health issues (Volkow et al., 2011). Mentally, the overuse of cellphones has been seen to result into problems like social anxiety, insomnia, and among students the inability to fully concentrate on academics (Acharya, et al., 2013). A recent study done at Baylor and Seton Hall universities evaluated cellphone, text messaging and instant messaging among students. This study showed that the average college student checks their cellphone about 60 times a day, spends an average of 9 hours on their phones everyday sends and gets text messages about 109.5 times a day (Roberts & Pirog, 2013). These rates are alarming and could lead to lack of concentration in academics. • 29. Technology Essay : The Aftermath Of Technology The Aftermath of Technology We live in a world today where everything that we do, we are assisted majorly by technology. Whether that is us Communicating on Facebook or buying things off Amazon we also have technology to help get from one destination to another. Technology is one of our biggest inventions and we have come to a point where it helps us do everything but where do we draw the line to say enough technology is enough? Or when do we rightfully blame technology for the corruption it has caused in the world. Technology has a way of impacting the way we think and live. "Technology can alter the actual wiring of the brain." (Deloatch, 2015). There has been a lot of success with technology, but with all this success comes with a lot of downfalls. The way you can look at us and technology is as we are King Midas and our golden touch in this case is technology, but not everything we touch turns to technology more in the sense everything we touch is technology. Children of today have technology at their fingertips, if you look back to about 15 years ago kids didn't have a smartphone or a tablet and if they did they weren't as impressive as they are today. "Children now rely on technology for the majority of their play." (Rowan, 2013). • 30. Texting Vs Calling Research Texting vs. Calling Which is better? Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, "If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships–the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace." The foundation of a human relationship is communication. Undoubtedly, without decent communication skills, the ability to form relationships would be virtually non–existent. Throughout the years, our means of communication have graduated from "snail" mail to email, landline phone calls to mobile phone communication, and most recently the evolution of texting. What on Earth would we do without the ability to text? Would we send each other letters? Would we call someone every single time we have a question? The convenience of texting appeals to society, instead of developing relationships through the menial labor of talking. Both forms of communication have its advantages and disadvantages, although some are more prominent than others. While both are forms of communication, one might argue which is more convenient than the other, which one conveys tone better, and which one has a more positive societal impact. ... On the other hand, when calling someone, the response is nigh instantaneous. Of course, when talking, it is impossible to edit the current conversation. Both face–to–face interaction and social networking sites (including Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook) are forms of staying in contact with friends and family. While Nora from Turkle's "Alone together" communicates her engagement and wedding date via email to her closest friends and family, she could have easily announced it face–to–face, at a party or through a Facebook event. While there are many ways of communicating information, the authenticity of these interactions as well as its importance is up for debate. Even the wife notes the extraordinary change in Mario, remarking "You're like the Energizer Bunny" upon seeing him go from a person who would back up at the sight of "golden smear of shit" to one who can now "hear her breathe...unafraid to hold her hand. (Slater, pages 1–3)" The dramatic nature of these temporary changes is in fact what is most troubling. In "Who Holds the Clicker," Heath performs electrode surgery on a homosexual man. By firing electrodes in his pleasure center while having him watch movies of heterosexual encounters, he is able to turn said man (identified as B–19) into a "newly made man" (Slater, pages 1)within 17 days. Although the electrode surgery on the homosexual man was supposed to be a good deed, in actuality the homosexual man did not conserve his individuality. As such, one can see that striving to forge face–to–face interaction comes at the expense of yourself. It is estimated that the number of worldwide mobile phone subscribers per 100 inhabitants have jumped from 3 in 1997 to 97 subscribers in 2014 (ITU 2014). While in developed countries mobile phones have exceeded the number of people (BBC 2007), the growth rate of subscribers in developing countries is reported to be the largest (BBC 2005). Mostly due to insufficient landline infrastructure. As a matter of fact, some predicted the "death" of the landline due to the takeover of cellular phones as a disruptive technology (Thompson 2005). Moreover, mobile phones have not only put the landline market under threat, but also personal computers; it has been indicated that the ratio of search queries sent from mobile devices to those from personal computers have increased rapidly and merely between the years 2010 and 2011 (Church et al., 2012). Yet, even from these different places, all three of us share some very basics understandings and needs as we strive to serve the church. Rev. Bev Dempsey and Rev. One thing we all have in common is that we are much better face–to–face connections than in email. Therefore, when given the chance to decide to connect through email versus personal conversations, we all agreed on personal conversations. My background includes serving in ministry for sixteen years in a few different roles. I began as a youth pastor and associate pastor. Rev. I would advise not to do it due to the fact that it may come off as a form of disrespect. When it comes to building a relationship in the workplace it just doesn't work out so try to stay away from that. Aside from respect, there is also disrespect. From being slapped by someone to being publically humiliated, disrespect is alive and well in today's society. Just like respect, disrespect also comes in different forms. Verbal disrespect is a form of disrespect seen virtually everywhere. Raising your voice to an adult in public, using harsh words towards one another are some examples of verbal disrespect. Verbal disrespect does not always appear to be disrespect. For example, cutting someone off while they are speaking and lying and manipulation. When you cut somebody off when they are speaking that shows the person that you are not listening to them and don't care about what they have to say. • 36. Cell Phones : Pro Vs. Con Cell Phones: Pro vs. Con Cell phones have come a long way since April 3, 1973 when the first phone was invented. The first call in history was made that day by Motorola employee Martin Cooper, as he stood next to a 900 MHz base station in New York City and phoned to the headquarters of Bell Labs in New Jersey (The Cellphone Turns 40: Remembering Martin Cooper's Historic Call). Since that day, cell phones have evolved to become what is now a all–in–one master piece. A current cell phone removes the need for various gadgets and replaces it with the click of just one button. Cell phones were first created to be strong, durable and not for long distance calling. Now, ordinary cellphones have evolved to the point where they are called smart phones. Although this incredible invention has changed our lives, it remains in debate of whether it was for the good or bad. The usage of cell phones is becoming tremendously fashionable in today's innovative world. Only talking to one another on social media limits a teenagers social skills and ability to read each other's body language in a face to face conversation. Young adults who don't learn how to effectively communicate in person will lack social skills in the adult world. Young adults need to learn face to face conversation skills so that later in life they can talk to other people and not have social anxiety. The issue here is human bias, which Turkle has plenty of. An AI, short for Artificial intelligence, would have non –biased information in its data.
