2. During the production of my preliminary task I learnt basic camera angles such as shot
reverse shot and implemented the 180 degree rule. I used a tripod for stability
when filming. I used previous filming experience to create a basic scene as an
introduction to the course. In my preliminary I used over the shoulder shots to give
a realistic viewer perspective. However in my final production I aimed to produce a
conventional skateboarding motion picture which contains alternative conventions.
3. In progression for my final product I had studied conventional skate filming
techniques on ridechannel’s popular series how to film skateboarding. I watched a
video called How To: Use Fisheye Lens - Skateboarding Cinematographer Mike
Manzoori- In Focus. This gave detailed knowledge of filming techniques which I
utilised within my final product. I used an Opteka X Grip handle for steady filming
for scenes which a tripod would not be suitable for such as the one before which
would not allow the camera to be low enough for.
4. In editing I aimed to produce an opening sequence which didn’t tell the
story of the film but showed instead the talent of the main character and
gave sense of location and setting which consisted of his home and
local skate parks which are the main themes of the story. I used the
editing software light works to add slow motion and windows movie
maker to add titles and create a directors commentary voiceover.
