Q7 Media Film Evaluation – What I Learnt During the Process?
The main element I have learnt to take away from this 2 min film introduction process is that for
next year’s process I need to manage my time better. I had difficulties with the actors I chose and I
have decided for future projects I need have them more on board. My film heavily relied on Richard
Farrel as I need is car in the film, however he found it tricky to find the time for the film and did
become quite problematic to work with. I also had to have a manic rush towards the end of the pre-
production task, everything takes longer than I predicted.
I learned how the blogging process works, as I was completely new to blogging, I had no idea how it
is slightly more complex than simply posting stuff. I was showed how some pieces of work including
picture and power points need to be formatted by using http://www.slideshare.net/.
I learned how to use different a piece of equipment that I had never heard of or seen called Pro DSLR
Rig (below).
This piece of equipment I found useful for my filming
process as it is much more movable than a tripod.
However, you can still achieve steady camera shots. It also
very beneficial whilst filming a character being followed as
it gives a good shoulder-shoulder view.
I learnt some new editing skills of Adobe Premier, such as ‘cut to black’ this was useful for a scene
when one of my characters was hit over the back of the head as it made to process simpler as I cut
to black rather than black rather than worrying about the hit over the head to realistic enough.
I also was more conscious of my camera angles due to the problems I created for myself with my
prelim task, I didn’t think of the 180 degree rule whilst filming. This lead to be having to re-film. I
made sure I kept to the camera angle rules in this latest addition of the media task. I also
experienced issue with shots appearing focused on the camera screen, but when I loaded them onto
the computer for editing they were not a crisp as I intended. So whilst filmed my 2 min intro I made
sure all the shots were properly in focus.
