Haloween II film poster analysis
1.
2. The image is slightly distorted and blurred, representing the crazed villain’s mindset, it also has a worrying affect in the audience as our vision is distorted creating an ominous undertone.
3. The only source of life and energy in the poster comes from the bright orange colour, this could represent hope for the protagonist but as the orange is distorted by bits of black it shows how death, decay and evil dominates, potentially showing a lack of hope for society.
4. The large dominating image of the villain is overbearing and frightening as his face is disgusting with cracks and distorted, this shows how humanity has been distorted, it also creates a sense of fear and horror for the audience as it shocks them and makes them cringe, which a horror film aims to do, and with this loud, sombre and frightening poster it does just that. The emptiness of the poster (just 1 large image and a lot of darkness) creates a shocking message as the focus is directly aimed at the frightening face of the villain.
5. The knife is symbolic of danger and violence, illustrating what the content of ‘Halloween 2’ will include.
6. Pathetic fallacy of the rain and clouds creates an ominous undertone and atmosphere, as it could represent an outpouring of emotion from the sky, thus god, adding religious significance and highlighting the villain’s immorality.
7. The slogan ‘FAMILY IS FOREVER’ creates a sombre atmosphere and ominous undertone as the image bellow is violent, the phrase is powerful and gives a sense of immortality. This creates a shocking reaction from the audience, as the message is distorted further emphasised with the distorted font employed. <br />
