2. Relating back to my case study, I analysed Clash magazine. There is similarity within my
magazine and Clash, my model photograph was shot as a close up, whereas on RockSound
there are three models and the photograph was taken as a mid shot.
I wanted my shot to be a close up because there was only one model on my front cover and
having the image take up a lot of space makes the it very in your face.
When there is a lot going it makes it exciting and you don’t know where to look first, this
allows a buyer to feel like it is filled with lots of information.
However, I had my model looking directly into the camera because I feel like it develops more
of a connection with buyer rather than the model looking away or another direction.
The lighting I used for my magazine is very similar to Rocksound rather than Clash this is
because in Clash there is a 1975 theme.
My models appearance is a connotation as her clothing and props meaning jewellery, these
are items that I would say relate to the genre of my magazine, basketball jerseys and chains.
3. On my contents page I used a play on words for example one of the celebrities in my
magazine was called Aroma, the introduction to her article was an example of what Aroma
means and using the word ‘fresh’ explained the fact that she was a new upcoming artist.
Another example would be Jerono being back on the scene, meaning he’s in filmography and
back in the limelight. I did this because I thought it would make a good introductions for the
pages listed on my contents page.
The layout of my contents page includes more images than Clash magazine but less than
Rocksound.
I didn’t include as many images because allows my readers to become curious and explore the
magazine.
If there are many images they might see an article of someone they don’t like and skip it and
possibly missing out on opportunities and competitions.
The layout of my double page spread lacks images from multiple locations whereas in Clash
magazine there are many images in different places.
Rocksound there is one image but I feel like that does not matter because there are five
people in the shot, which creates a visual image for readers.
