Safety Case Study
A business may have to sometimes alienate some customers for the betterment of their workers and business in general. There is controversy on the
fact that delivery services like Domino's and little Caesars do not deliver in locations that are deemed dangerous and have a color system designated
for certain neighborhoods. The American Civil Liberties Union criticizes this practice as discriminatory as some of these neighborhoods are
predominantly minority neighborhoods and believe it is a racial issue. I believe that the issue is safety as some neighborhoods are more dangerous
and create a risk towards the delivery workers. As a customer of these neighborhoods it can be frustrating not being able to get pizza, but if a business

On the other hand there is also the possibility of losing money by not delivering in certain locations, and there is the moral risk of putting workers
life at risk for continuing business. In a situation such as this it will be hard to please both sides, as both a customers and workers concern needs to
be taken into account. As a business manager the main moral concern should be the workers that it has employed and their safety even if sales are
lost. For the long run of the company you needs to find a balance, workers to feel safe, and customers to feel accommodated by the business. As a
business manager concern of the customer needs to be taken higher into account. Having customers feel that they are being prejudiced against will be
bad for public perception. The company can also re–asses the location to their franchise in the future to prevent the current situation. When it comes to
marketing programs the best recommend action for the company to address is not to address the situation. Identifying the issue via marketing
programs would bring more scrutiny to the company. Plenty of other organizations are trouble by the same situation and at no time it addressed the
issue to the public view. Evaluation of the situation is needed to identify if it is a regional issue only. If pressure from the government agencies begins
to mount the next option is to address the issue via public service

Growing Up In Small Towns: How People Grow Up In A Small Town
A lot of people grew up in small towns, but it is more people that grew up in big cities. Most kids that grow up in small towns are bored when kids in
big cities have something to do everyday. It's safe to grow up in a small town and very dangerous for a big city. Small towns are very safe, but then
some may be very dangerous and people would never know. A lot of kids live in small towns and they have a good life, but when they grow up it
will boring. Most of the kids grow up to be very successful when they grow up in a small town because they most likely are smart and they go to
college. They often get the better jobs in bigger cities that they grew up in. Most kids are shady when they live in a small town and they are cautious

Condition Of The Working Class In England
The Condition of the working class in England summary Friederick Engels in The Condition of the Working Class in England describes the
inhumane and atrocious living and working conditions for the proletariat in England. He describes life in England before the Industrial revolution
and how there was a shift in population from rural farmland to urban cities. Engels describes as factories grew, the demand of labor increased, and
the population in cities increased the quality of living for those people in factories deteriorated. The descriptions that Engels uses to describe the
smells and the appearance of streets filled with human waste ghastly because it creates these images that it is unimaginable that someone could
live that way. There are buildings filled for from "cellar to garret" by Engels but he also gives us the disturbing number of around 50,000 humans
looking for housing in the refuges for the houseless. The living conditions and the areas of the cities where these poor living conditions are found
lead to diseases among the population of the working class. The breaking apart of families because they are working twelve to thirteen hour days at
times more so they do not have time for family. As a result of the exhaustion and stressful low paying work the working class turn to drinking as the
only escape for the miserable work they must go through on a daily basis. The book describes the workers as nothing but hands at times, they are seen
as interchangeable pieces to

Is It Safe to Visit Lima, Peru?
Is it safe to visit Lima, Peru? Most people are likely to relate to stereotypes when thinking about Lima, Peru, and this is mainly owed to the fact that
there has been a lot of bad publicity related to the location in the recent years. Like all major cities from around the world it can be a dangerous place
for a naиЄ°ve person, but as long as one knows how to stay close to the group that he or she is travelling with and ignores strangers who seem
suspicious everything is likely to be all right. Avoiding taxi drivers who ask for more money than a usual fare would cost and individuals who want
to sell overpriced objects is basically all that a tourist should consider while visiting Lima. Lima and Peru as a whole are generally considered to be
dangerous because people associate them with Columbian drug cartels, given that the country borders Columbia. However, as long as one does not
interact with border–related affairs and as long as the respective person knows how to keep out of situations that can spark into incidents he or she is
likely to be safe. The fact that I am going to focus on doing mission work in the country makes it practically impossible for me to be confronted
with a dangerous situation. I am not going to walk the streets alone at night and I am not going to show off jewelry or expensive accessories. I am
practically going to blend in by being as common as a Peruvian can be and this will surely make me invisible to potential aggressors. This city is

Life In Urban America
Independence and freedom were at the found of American but ironically the new urban American hindered both. With the increase of industry and
growth of urban population, independence was lost. People were trapped in a constant bustle. Early cities were repugnant. They were dirty, polluted
and over–crowed. Life inside the city was detestable for most. "The city's ways and forms were conceived of as too artificial and of the wrong quality
to support a more life" . Warner draws forth the idea of the city as artificial which is a very troubling quality. Life in the city was artificial and
created a fake way of life. This artificial form was the thing people wanted to avoid. The great populous cities of Europe were over developed and lost
their uniqueness they became artificial. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Life in the agrarian society was centered around community. Within a city community is lost and so are the people. The city changed the people
who lived there. "For the middle class of the late nineteenth century the rural ideal was one positive element in the complex of conditions which
shifted people's attitude from being favorable to being hostile to city life" .The new urban way of life destroyed community and unity and replaced it
with greed. Commerce overtook the minds of everyone. The many negative aspects of urban life also troubled the city dwellers. Cities were dirty,
dangerous, and overcrowded. "The crowding of factory, foreigners with ever new languages and habits–these negative pressures tended to drive the
middle class from the city" . Urban life made people want to leave but unfortunately everyone was

The Rise of Illegal Drug Trade in Our Dangerous Economy
Ever since drugs became illegal to be purchased in the early century the whole illegal drug trade started to rise and many individuals especially youth
started to join this dangerous and illegal economy. Youths were ambitious and were attracted to this inner city business just to get money in a faster
way. That is because drug selling and other illegal activities appeared to be the most effective way to get rich in a faster way. Also many of these
youth would rather earn money in a dangerous way than working for someone racially superior. Many of these youngsters joined these underground
jobs because of their low economic status they were trapped in. Another reason why these teenagers joined this dangerous economic is because of the
autonomy they would get in this job. The fact that they can self govern themselves is essential to them because is something they weren't able to find
in an entry–level job (Bourgois, Pg. 9–10). They also gained respect from the surroundings they would usually socialize with. Practically most of the
youths that had joined the underground jobs have had negative experiences in the minimum–wage labor market from their racist bosses or supervisors
(Bourgois, Pg. 7). One of the things the underground economy offers that the inner city doesn't is the fast short–term success. Many young people were
looking for the capacity of growing to a higher social or economic position (Bourgois, Pg. 10). However, besides the higher ranking, the respect, and

The Causes And Effects Of The United States
Imagine strolling to the local grocery store, taking a morning run, or merely gathering the daily mail wearing a mask as a shield against gassy smog.
Think about the terror that strikes some people when they turn on their faucets only to see a string of tainted, brown solution. Pollution affects
thousands of human individuals, animals, forests, cities, and ecosystems. With shocking effects and staggering statistics, our water sources, the air we
breathe, and the land upon which we live suffer from this plague. Unfortunately, the causes and effects of this universal dilemma deteriorate the health
and well–being of all life forms on earth.
Although land, light, and noise pollution leave their mark on this planet, air and water pollution inflict even more damage. Across the globe, from
Beijing to the U.S. to Africa, we see, and contribute to the causes of pollution daily. Because of harmful chemicals that waft up to the atmosphere, the
ozone faces depletion. Automobiles and other forms of transportation emit dangerous toxins, along with putrid, black smoke that spews from the
exhaust pipes of large vehicles. Smoke from factories contributes generously to contamination, as well. Even natural disasters play a momentous role in
air pollution as exhibited by sulfur dioxide, a volcanic gas that kills those who come in contact with it and leaves soil infertile for years (Pollution).
Another substance absolutely necessary to life on earth – water – teems with pollutants. Human

Effects Of Pollution On The Environment
Pollution Affects the Environment
Every day, millions of humans, plants, and animals are affected by pollution. Cancer, disease, and kidney failure are just some of the rapidly increasing
effects. Pollution is a growing concern that is gradually changing the way the environment and ecosystem function. With thousands of foreign and
natural contaminants being pumped into the environment every day, serious action will need to be taken to reverse the life–threatening effects of
pollution. Although, some could argue that pollution is mostly caused by natural chemicals; the number one leading cause of pollution is human
activity. With the continued growth of human activity and modern production, pollution has reached its highest levels; causing an increase in
environmental and health–related issues. Most people are unaware of the increasing pollution levels in the environment. The main reason is that many
overlook the subject since most pollution is not visible. Unfortunately, although pollution is often unseen, it's effects are very present and highly
dangerous. "On average, fifty thousand people die each year due to pollution in America" (Rinkesh). Approximately six million people worldwide will
die from pollution each year by 2050 (Rinkesh). That is a large quantity of deaths due to something unseen. Many skeptics believe that pollution is not
harmful and the health–related issues are coincidences, but that is not true. Chemicals can be poisonous. We don't drink chemicals so why would we
want to breathe it? Chemical production is the highest it has ever been; causing extreme amounts of contamination and damage (World Wild Life).
Pollution cannot continue to be overlooked. The related health and environmental risks are too high and too dangerous. If it keeps going unnoticed,
the pollution levels will increase, and the death toll will as well. Pollution levels are getting higher each year (World Wild Life). The biggest reason
is that toxic chemicals pour out of cars, chemical plants, and factories every day (World Wild Life). Although many chemicals are not dangerous;
most are. In fact, some chemicals can even "travel great distances by air or accumulate in the bodies of animals and humans" (World Wild Life).

Special Weapons And Tactics
Aiyana Jones. Seven years old. Innocent. She had been sleeping on a couch under a window when the SWAT team threw a flash bang grenade into
her house. It landed on the couch. And then, they barged in. Her father heard the explosion, followed by a gunshot, but he was too late. A bullet had
pierced her head and neck. Aiyana was dead. And the officer? Unconvicted. (F). SWAT, or Special Weapons and Tactics, is a specialized
police unit
equipped with military weapons, originally created to deal with high risk operations. However, today, SWAT teams are often misused and turn friendly
neighborhoods into war zones. They are unwarranted forces that pose a threat to the civil liberties of American citizens.

The Department of Defense states that their mission is to "provide the military forces needed to deter war" (Department of Defense). However, local
law enforcement agencies in the United States are not fighting a war, therefore, making it absurd for SWAT teams to possess military equipment. Fort
Wayne, a city in Indiana with a violent crime rate of around 3.88 per 1000 people, does not need military weapons and vehicles, yet they have an
arsenal of "more than two dozen assault rifles... armored vehicles... a grenade launcher," (H) and automatic rifles. It is very likely that these weapons
are rarely even used, which means that they are stored somewhere in the city. This storage of surplus military grade weapons is dangerous for the
community. In Utah, guns received from the Defense Department have been misplaced, which means that there are people in the community with
military grade weapons. Additionally, the loss of a gun means that "the federal government can penalize an entire state's law enforcement agencies,"
(H), which means shutting down "every force in the state for several months" (H). Militarization of local police forces is not uncommon, and many
cities across America receive military equipment from the government. From local cities, like Santa Barbara, to ones across the country, like Richland
County in South Carolina (I), law enforcement agencies across the nation have access to deadly military weapons that can be unjustly used in their
communities. This availability of military equipment for law enforcement agencies is a dangerous risk that the country should not take, as it has led to
the death of many innocent

Industrial Revolution Research Paper
The industrial revolution is a time in history between the 18th to 19th centuries and a period in which the agricultural based, rural in Europe and
America became industrialized and urbanized.
Before the industrial revolution, that took place in Britain, during the late 1700s, Britain had many natural resources like coal to fuel machines, iron
ore to construct machines, and buildings. At that time, many people lived in small, rural communities and majority of them worked on the land owned
by the Lords. These people used hand tools or simple machines in their home for manufacturing but this changed to powered, special–purposed
machinery, factories, and mass production. The textile industry for example, the processes of carding wool, spinning... Show more content on

First, it improved the quality of life for the people but ended up causing them to suffer. It also brought a high volume and a variety of factory produced
goods that raised the standards of living for many people especially the middle and upper classes. However, the poor or working–class people suffered
many challenges. The poor or working–class people that worked in the factories earned low wages under dangerous and tedious conditions. Children
were used improperly since they had to work in the factories for long hours with little pay. Many women and children had to work in the coal
mines for a cheap source of income. Many people had to move to the cities in search of factory jobs. Cities grew quickly with no plans for
development. There were no sewer systems and no sanitary codes and building codes. It produced inadequate housing, education and law
enforcement. Garbage piled up in the streets off the cities. People lived in unhygienic conditions in tight environments that led diseases to spread
faster. The average lifespan at the time was 17 years in the cities as compared to 38 in the rural areas. There were not enough jobs for everyone so it
led to overcrowding in urban areas and pollution with unsanitary conditions that caused diseases. The ones that found jobs were required to work 14
hours a day, 6 hours a week, had no off days. The factory buildings were low lit, dirty, unsafe and cramped with dangerous machines. They were also

Prologue There is a place where many adventures have gone and many have died. It is deep in the earth, filled with evil beings. The evil beings
called falmer dwell in this old city. This is no ordinary old city, this is Blackreach. Blackreach is an old dwemer city that was filled with dwarves.
The dwarves were mysteriously wiped out and the falmer inhibit the ruins now. The falmer alone make the place dangerous. The falmer were a great
race of snow elves until the Aldimiri Dominion demolished them. They were sent into hiding and live in the caves. They adapted into foul, blind
creatures that are very dangerous. They keep large scorpion–insect hybrids called chorus that have a deadly poison and are extremely powerful. The

I was shocked. To get a deadra heart would mean killing a mighty demon from oblivion. They are very hard to find now after the oblivion crisis.
And by the nine divines it is one of the rarest metals in all of Skyrim. But here he was with the items in his hand ready. I could tell he was not an
ordinary warrior. I forged him the mighty sword, but such task was not as easy as it sounds. To be able to use the deadra heart you must get it to 450
degrees and keep it at that exact temperature for exactly 2 days. The ebony is also very hard to melt. You must use fire salts which will get the forge
to the highest heat that it can get to. The next few days the warrior stayed in the town. One day I went to go talk to the man. I asked him what he does
for a living. He said he was an adventurer who traveled through Skyrim diving into dungeons, and treasure hunting often. This is not an ordinary
profession. The next day the sword was finished, and I presented it to him. He seemed very pleased. He admired the great design. He brought a
giant's skull, one of the toughest items in Skyrim. He took the sword, and swung it at the skull. It made a clean cut. It not only had magnificent
beauty, but also deadly power. This is a sword to reckon with. The next thing he said was shocking. He asked me to sharpen it. I debated that my mere
grindstone would only dull the blade, but he insisted. I sharped it to the best of my abilities and he

The Rise Of Mt. Vesuvius
Admiral Pliny watched from his mammoth fleet of ships as Mt. Vesuvius started to rumble. As he watched the menacing volcano, a looming mass of
ash and pumice shot into the darkening sky. He could hear the screams of the citizens on land and the cries of their children as they tried to run away
from death's face. Pliny had a gut feeling that this would not end well. He knew that this eruption caused the fall of the beautiful and innocent city of
Pompeii and of many of the citizens that occupied it, but still he wanted to save as many souls as he could. He sighed and began barking orders to the
fleet and they began sailing to land, and quite possibly, their doom.

Comparing The City And Uncharted Forest In Ayn Rand's Anthem
The book Anthem was written in 1938 by Ayn Rand and is about what could happen to the world if we would agree to a collective society. The main
two places in the novel are the City and the Uncharted Forest which both have similarities and differences. A similarity between the City and
Uncharted Forest is that both have houses and towards the end of the book also that people are living in both places (Rand 88–89). There are a lot of
differences in between the City and the Uncharted Forest such as that the City is completely discovered and the Uncharted forest is forbidden and
undiscovered, the house that Liberty and Equality discover in the forest looks a lot different than the ones in the City, the City is called safe and never
to be left whereas the forest is called dangerous and not to be entered and that there is not human life in the forest compared to the City. The... Show

Bringing Chicago to Life
Carl Sandburg describes Chicago as a tough and hefty city. Chicago is portrayed as a proud city, a city proud to be so "strong and cunning" whereas
other cities of the time were not. Chicago is characterized by the people and workers who live in it. Sandburg loves Chicago even though it is a
brutally tough city. Sandburg uses imagery, personification, and punctuation to characterize the city as an actual person.
Sandburg uses imagery that gives Chicago the reputation of being wicked, crooked, and brutal. The author gives references of when people have
called the city such names. Sandburg says, "And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it is true I have seen/ the gunman kill and go free to
kill again," (line 8–9). Not only did Sandburg write this line to give an example of one of the things people call his city but he is also saying yes I have
seen it happen, Chicago can be dangerous. Despite what people say about his city he still describes it as proud. Sandburg sneers, "Come and show me
another city with lifted head singing so proud to be/ alive and coarse and strong and cunning," (14–15). Sandburg defends his city while some people
think it is cruel and harsh he describes Chicago as proud of those characteristics. Sandburg portrays Chicago as wicked, crooked, and brutal, but takes
pride in living in a city that is so tough.
Sandburg uses personification to describe Chicago as an actual living person. The author characterizes Chicago as various types of workers.

Shepards all have fell victim to these absurd laws and regulations. So many dogs have been ripped away from their lives and families. These dogs
are removed and killed senselessly. There is no compelling evidence these laws even work. They address expense to enforce and upkeep. There
are no bad dogs. There address bad people and bad owners. Over 700 U.S. cities have breed specific laws, regulations, and ordnances already in

Optimism The Most Powerful Thing In The World
Optimism is a powerful thing. We know it more commonly as hope. Hope empowers us, and lets us press on even in the face of defeat. However,
having too much of it can be dangerous. The Jews for example, during World War II, they had too much hope, and they wound up dead. Allow me to
expand. As I said before, optimism (hope) is the most powerful thing in the world, with the second being fear. However, having too much of it is very
dangerous. Too much hope can cause people to have tunnel vision. Hope can restrict the ability to notice, or recognize the things that are going on
around them. People can get caught in a feeling of unending optimism, and therefore miss important things like hazards, or dangerous things that could
be occurring around them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beginning of their optimism began even before the Nazi's captured their cities. An example of this would be from the book entitled "Night". The
main character's city (Jewish), heard that some of the other Jewish cities in their country, had been captured by the Nazis. The citizens of the main
character's city thought that they would be safe, and that the Nazis would not invade their city. They believed that God would save them, therefore,
they did not take any action to protect them from the Nazis and from having their city captured by them. If they would have taken preventative
measures, like escaping their city, they could have prevented being captured by the Nazi's. Jews were blinded with so much optimism that they did
nothing to protect themselves. They carried on with the belief that they would not have their cities invaded, and that they would therefore remain safe.

Pros And Cons Of President Trump's Economic Growth
Summary: The end of 2016 had 2% economic growth, that continues to slowly grow. The growth of economy means that there is an increase of
goods and services. President Trump has tried to make proposals, such as the growth of GDP (gross domestic product), but many of these proposals
seem to possibly cause a trade war. A trade war would have a bad result for America, because of the cost it would cost the economy, government and
taxpayers. The slower growth of the economy has different explanations, like the "internet bubble," but no sure answer. Trump's more bigger plans for
economy growth is to invest in new automated plants, worker training, fuel growth and retraining should improve long–term productivity, helping with
more mass production.

The story sets in the city, mainly in the roof and in the streets of the city. While, "The Most Dangerous Game" has many different settings, first it was
on the deck of a ship, and it moved on to the water, where Rainsford had to swim, until he reached the island. From there he went to General Zaroff's
castle, from there, the setting once again moved to the forest where there hunting game started.
As we all know, all stories have main characters. In the story "The Sniper", there is only one main character, which is the sniper. There are other
characters such as the old woman which was an informer, and of course, there were many other enemies, mainly the army. While, in the story "The
Most Dangerous Game", the main characters were Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff, Ivan can also be considered one of the main characters. Of
course, there are other characters such as Whitney, in the beginning of the story, and there are also General Zaroff's dogs.
Though both stories have so many differences, they also share many similarities. Both stories, "The Sniper" and "The Most Dangerous Game", have a
dark, serious mood. This mood makes both stories more exciting and suspenseful. Both stories are about risks, which mean that deaths will happen in
the story.

that said, while viewing the presentation, one innovative point stood out to me; That is, the idea that denser cities across the globe is an adequate
solution to limiting fossil fuel consumption and emissions. I know population is projected to rapidly increase in coming decades (mainly due to
advances in technology as well as agriculture and medical breakthroughs). To me this means that cities are most likely going to be the last place that

Wizard Of Oz Color Analysis
L. Frank Baum wrote an amazing story using colors to describe each part of Dorothy's journey to Oz. The color changes throughout the story
symbolized setting changes and different stages in her journey. The colors also represented danger, beauty, power, mood and identified characters and
surroundings.
The story begins with the color gray. Dorothy's home, her dog Toto, the farm she lived on with her Aunt and Uncle, the land and sky are all gray
and dull. "Once the house had been painted, but the sun blistered the paint and the rains washed it away, and now the house was as dull and gray as
everything else" (Baum, ch.1). Her hardworking relatives were too busy working on the farm to have any fun with Dorothy. The best part of

Speech On Travel In Mumbai
Bombay was also known as Mumbai. When Britishers came to India they change a lot of cities name and Bombay was the one in it. After Britishers
went back, Bombay was called by Mumbai. Mumbai is the dream city of every Indian because Mumbai is the biggest city in India. Approximately,
more than 15 million people live in Mumbai and it is a big city. The dangerous thing in Mumbai is the trains of Mumbai's local station. It is very risky
to travel I the travel in Mumbai.
I have traveled in train in Mumbai and that the first and last time I traveled on the train. From my personal experience, I would say that it's really
risky and dangerous to travel. There are 1000 of people who die because of the traffic and because of traveling in a train. On page 158, the last line of
the 1st paragraph, Nasirbhai talks about people who put their life in danger because of their job. That is so true because in Mumbai people can't afford
to lose their job because Mumbai is so costly and the traffic of Mumbai last forever so people choose train instead of driving their own car. So they risk
their life daily by going on a train.
I found that shocking about 20,706 Mumbaikers was killed on the trains in the last five years. That's too much and it really shocking fact. So many

Plastic Pollution Essay
With the ceaseless consumption of plastics, problems arise affecting the current state of the planet along with the existing life that depends on it,
negatively impacting the future to come. As Leighton Kille and Rachael Stephens state in their Journalist's Resource article "Plastics, Human Health
and Environmental Impacts: The Road Ahead," the readily usable products made of plastic create a hazard to people and the environment. Plastics,
found in many products and made simple to dispose of, contain harmful chemicals that can endanger the human body as well as any animals that may
encounter it. From Kille and Stephens's research, the impacts of plastics are understood to be an expanding threat to the world. Acknowledging the
influence of plastic in the modern world and plastic's menace on society, I believe in the change of cities' recycling processes, encouragement of the
refusal of purchasing single–use plastic products, and the education on the dangers of plastics on human health and the environment. The world that we
live in has run on plastic consumption, which continues to increase as we support the companies that manufacture these items by buying their products.
Millennials of the UTA community, the people that can make a difference in the world, will be the ones greatly impacted by the growing production of
manufactured plastic goods. Simple, yet greatly influential, differences in an individual's life can better the world of tomorrow by finding alternatives to

would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and

Cause And Effect Of Pollution

Most chemicals, however, spread from factories (Rinkesh). Although many could argue that their factories or plants are not giving off dangerous
chemicals, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology concluded that nearly 200,000 people die each year just from factory pollution alone. In places
such as Beijing, pollution has been directly connected to the factories, which has caused new diseases and severe smog (Rinkesh). With modern
production levels so high, heavy factory cities are going to continue to suffer as well as the population. Pollution is affecting many different forms of
life. The main reason being due to the sicknesses and diseases humans and animals face after exposure to contaminants (Weiman). Many pollutants are
carcinogens, which put living things at higher risk of breathing problems and severe inner organ damage (Weiman). Although many could argue that
pollution is not the cause of cancer and diseases; a study in 1995 found a connection between pollution and increased deaths from cardiovascular and
respiratory problems (Weiman). Exposure to toxic chemicals and dangerous poisons are clearly affecting humans and animals. According to The World
Wild Life Organization, "chemicals persist in the environment and accumulate in the bodies". Every day, humans and animals are suffering from the
pollution being breathed in. It is important that

Fahrenheit 451 Character Analysis
Comparison of Characters
John from "By the Water of Babylon and Guy" from Fahrenheit 451 are both unlikely heroes in their own story. The similarities between Guy from
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and John from "By the Water of Babylon" by Stefan Vincent Benet are striking and deserve thorough investigation.
Guy and John are similar for three reasons. First they both go on a dangerous physical journey. Second, they both go on a journey of enlightenment.
Finally, as a result of their journeys, both John and Guy find a new purpose in life. For these reasons, John and Guy are similar characters and deserve
further investigation.
Both Guy and John are similar because they both go on a dangerous physical journey. In Fahrenheit 451, Guy travels from his house to his friend
Faber's house. During his journey, he has to cross a highway where a car speeds up to hit him. Bradbury writes, " the Beetle was flying now up to
120 going straight at him" (127). This quote shows that Guy's trip across the highway was one of the most dangerous legs of his journey to Faber's
house. From Faber's house, Guy travels to Granger and his band of outcasts. Faber tells Guy, "You'd better head for the river if you can, follow along
it, and if you can hit the old railroad lines going out into the country, follow them."(Bradbury 132). Faber is describing the long journey that Guy still
has ahead of him. In "By the Waters of Babylon", John has a dream in which he is shown that he should travel

The Effect Of Urbanization On Wildlife
In modern day urban settings, it is not uncommon to walk outside and experience Madagascar right in the city parks. OK, maybe not quite
Madagascar yet, but cities are getting there. The wildlife that used to live out in the wild are now migrating into urban areas because there are no
resources left for them in their original homes. The problem is humans. Humans have taken over the resources, homes, and economies that animals
need to survive, so they are forced to come closer and closer to humans. The movement caused by this is creating many problems between humans and
the animals that are forced to move. Urban wildlife is beginning to cause damage to the environment and needs to be stopped.
The effect that urbanization has on wildlife is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the causes of fear loss is caused by animals being too closely associated with the millions of humans that surround them on a daily basis. The
animals are forced to reside in human habitat because they have nowhere else to live. The closeness can cause alterations and "some urban animals
trade personal space for the convenience of the city" (Soniak). Species continue to be made to live side by side to humans and breathe the exact same
air that they do. They practically share homes with humans now because of the lack of space and the excessive populations of urban wildlife. What
used to be considered taboo is presently different because "the relationship between humans and large predators is changing" (Mahoney). Large
predators who lose their fears and approach humans in search for food or water are put in danger because humans misunderstand the animals and what
they are trying to tell them. They may view a harmless approach for food as a murder spree targeted straight at them.
Another problem that follows urbanization is the harmony between humans and animals that has been around for years is now being disturbed. The
amount of wildlife deaths in urban cities is rising as more human populations expand and grow. Some threats to urban wildlife include: habitat loss,
light and noise pollution, invasive species, chemical runoff/ pollution and habitat fragmentation. For the urban

The film City of God portrays the life of the youth living in one Brazil's most dangerous favela's Cidade de Deus or City of God. Through a sequential
storytelling style, the film is broken in to mini stories that document the rise and fall of the main characters who live in City of God. Although there are
central characters with which the narrative follows. the objective of the film is an attempt to provide a portrait of the favela, City of God. The favela

Muckrakers In The 1920's
During the 1890s to the 1920s cities began to grow, younger people, often children started working in factories, and muckrakers can to be. Many
children had to work for their family instead of going to school. People started moving to the cities to get better jobs. Children often had to work in
factories instead of going to school because they needed to help their family make money. Since children were working so young, muckrakers came
about.
Starting in the 1890s, cities began to change. More factory jobs became available, so people moved to the cities for jobs. With so many people
moving to the cities, more pollution started to happen, people struggled to find somewhere to live, and people had to compete for a job. This led to

They would write articles and create cartoons showing the people the problems in the cities and workplace. One example, is a cartoon of New YorkCity
. It shows a big thumb of William M. Tweed, crushing the city of New York. Under the picture it says, "The Boss: 'Well, what are you going to do
about it?'" This shows that the bosses have a lot of power to control the city and the average person cannot do much about it. This picture was made
to frustrate people so they would demand changes in factories and in city life. The muckrakers also fought for the rights of children. John Spargo
wrote in his article, "The Bitter Cry of Children", "Where the disregard of child life is such that this may done openly and with legal sanction [
approval], it is easy to believe what miners have again and again told me–– that there are hundreds of little boys of nine and ten years of age employed
in the coal mines of this state." Spargo was upset that children were working in conditions like this and wanted people to know the truth about the
horrible working conditions. Because of the muckrakers, factory and city life

City Life Chapter Summaries
Chapter 1 of experiencing cities was all about the foundations of the constantly growing metropolitan city. It includes everything from facts about
how fast our cities are growing to city as a state of mind. But the section that intrigued me the most was "symbolic interactionism and the study of
city life." symbolic interactivity means that people are the ones who play an active role in their environment. In other words the area you live in
is going to be determined by the way you interact with others and how you live your life. This idea was not one that shocked me but allowed me
to grasp a greater understanding as to why different cities are the way they are. For example, i'm from a small town in California with little to no
crime. It is a pretty affluent area and people are pretty friendly. However you drive about 30 miles and you are now in one of the most dangerous
cities in america, Oakland California. Here deadly shootings are a regular basis along with many other crimes. The citizens of these towns are usually
right at the or below the poverty line. So to introduce this theory to me gives me a greater understanding as to why certain cities are dangerous and

The Apology Of Socrates In Book I Of The Republic
The Apology shows how other people perceive Socrates actions and how Socrates himself perceives his actions; these different views are then evident
in Book I of the Republic. The Greek word "apologia" means defense. In The Apology of Socrates, Socrates is defending himself and his actions
because of the accusations against him corrupting the youth, atheism, and making the weaker argument the stronger. As a philosopher,Socrates is
dangerous to the city because of the relationship between reason and revelation. Reason seeks to find why things are done in a certain way, and if
they are found to be done in an inadequate way, this inquisition calls into question the authority who are over the city. People often think that their way
of life and the good way of life is the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Socrates asks if it is good to give back a madman a weapon he had loaned, because while that fits Cephalus' definition of justice, it is clear
that no one could benefit from it. It is because of Socrates innocently challenging important well–respected men that was accused and put on trial.
Polemarchus takes on a similar definition of justice: "justice is going good to friends and harm to enemies" (I, 332d). As a refutation to this, Socrates
brings up the point that not every friend is actually a good person and not every enemy is bad, which would be doing injustice to that person.
Disproving Polemarchus could be thought of as an example where Socrates is corrupting the youth which leads to his being on trial. Thrasymachus
argues that justice is the interest of the stronger. When Thrasymachus makes this case, Socrates does not inquire but cross examines him, which gives
the impression that Socrates just wishes to put Thrasymachus out of business and does not care about actually changing his mind. This also, presents
another opportunity for Socrates to be accused of "corrupting the

Goodbye To All That Joan Didon Summary
Time, memory, and youth all fade away, but can bee preserved through writing. Joan Didon's essay " Goodbye to all that," This is an essay about
the ending of the author's youth, into adulthood. Joan Didon is writing from her point as an adult, looking back into her twenties, while she was in
the city of New York. She romantically writes about the city of New York, as a paradise for people in their twenties. New York is a city filled with
adventure, and she is thankful for her time that she had spent in the city. Joan Didon was a young, idealistic writer, searching for an audience in the city
of New York. She recalls her experience as a struggle, but also a fun time in her life, which helped her find herself, and in the end she found her
husband as well. The city is notorious fast. It draws in people who are dreamers. These are people who are ambitious. The can be very poor or very
wealthy. Didon's depiction of New York illustrates people who are professional, hustlers, as well the people who are searching for a start in the city. It
is not a place for people who are settled in their life or people who are at the end of their life." I want to explain to you, and in the process perhaps
myself, why I no longer live in New York. It is often said that New York is a city for only the very rich and the very poor. It is less often said that New
York is also, at least for those of us who came there from somewhere else, came city for only the very young." (Didon, P. 226) I

Why Some People Think That It's Dangerous Going Out The...
Why is it that some people think that it's dangerous going out the front door? There are many ways why people will think that. The three ways that
I find to be some major ways is, the person might not be ready, the outside is full of dangerous people, and that the person might get with the wrong
group and get into bad things. Reason 1 of why I think that going out the front is dangerous is that, the person might not just not be ready. There are
many reasons why a person might not be ready. They might not have the right education that they should have, they might not be the best at getting a
job. There could be many ways of why someone might not have the proper education. First they might be a dropout so they never finished high
school. In my opinion high school is one of the most important times to get good grades. If you don't then it is hard to get into college, jobs will see
that you dropped out and might not hire you to work there. These are some of the most simplest reasons on why someone just won't be ready to go

Safety Case Study

  • 1. Safety Case Study A business may have to sometimes alienate some customers for the betterment of their workers and business in general. There is controversy on the fact that delivery services like Domino's and little Caesars do not deliver in locations that are deemed dangerous and have a color system designated for certain neighborhoods. The American Civil Liberties Union criticizes this practice as discriminatory as some of these neighborhoods are predominantly minority neighborhoods and believe it is a racial issue. I believe that the issue is safety as some neighborhoods are more dangerous and create a risk towards the delivery workers. As a customer of these neighborhoods it can be frustrating not being able to get pizza, but if a business had to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand there is also the possibility of losing money by not delivering in certain locations, and there is the moral risk of putting workers life at risk for continuing business. In a situation such as this it will be hard to please both sides, as both a customers and workers concern needs to be taken into account. As a business manager the main moral concern should be the workers that it has employed and their safety even if sales are lost. For the long run of the company you needs to find a balance, workers to feel safe, and customers to feel accommodated by the business. As a business manager concern of the customer needs to be taken higher into account. Having customers feel that they are being prejudiced against will be bad for public perception. The company can also re–asses the location to their franchise in the future to prevent the current situation. When it comes to marketing programs the best recommend action for the company to address is not to address the situation. Identifying the issue via marketing programs would bring more scrutiny to the company. Plenty of other organizations are trouble by the same situation and at no time it addressed the issue to the public view. Evaluation of the situation is needed to identify if it is a regional issue only. If pressure from the government agencies begins to mount the next option is to address the issue via public service ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most kids that grow up in small towns are bored when kids in big cities have something to do everyday. It's safe to grow up in a small town and very dangerous for a big city. Small towns are very safe, but then some may be very dangerous and people would never know. A lot of kids live in small towns and they have a good life, but when they grow up it will boring. Most of the kids grow up to be very successful when they grow up in a small town because they most likely are smart and they go to college. • 3. Condition Of The Working Class In England The Condition of the working class in England summary Friederick Engels in The Condition of the Working Class in England describes the inhumane and atrocious living and working conditions for the proletariat in England. He describes life in England before the Industrial revolution and how there was a shift in population from rural farmland to urban cities. Engels describes as factories grew, the demand of labor increased, and the population in cities increased the quality of living for those people in factories deteriorated. The descriptions that Engels uses to describe the smells and the appearance of streets filled with human waste ghastly because it creates these images that it is unimaginable that someone could live that way. There are buildings filled for from "cellar to garret" by Engels but he also gives us the disturbing number of around 50,000 humans looking for housing in the refuges for the houseless. The living conditions and the areas of the cities where these poor living conditions are found lead to diseases among the population of the working class. The breaking apart of families because they are working twelve to thirteen hour days at times more so they do not have time for family. As a result of the exhaustion and stressful low paying work the working class turn to drinking as the only escape for the miserable work they must go through on a daily basis. The book describes the workers as nothing but hands at times, they are seen as interchangeable pieces to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Is It Safe to Visit Lima, Peru? Is it safe to visit Lima, Peru? Most people are likely to relate to stereotypes when thinking about Lima, Peru, and this is mainly owed to the fact that there has been a lot of bad publicity related to the location in the recent years. Like all major cities from around the world it can be a dangerous place for a naиЄ°ve person, but as long as one knows how to stay close to the group that he or she is travelling with and ignores strangers who seem suspicious everything is likely to be all right. Avoiding taxi drivers who ask for more money than a usual fare would cost and individuals who want to sell overpriced objects is basically all that a tourist should consider while visiting Lima. Lima and Peru as a whole are generally considered to be dangerous because people associate them with Columbian drug cartels, given that the country borders Columbia. However, as long as one does not interact with border–related affairs and as long as the respective person knows how to keep out of situations that can spark into incidents he or she is likely to be safe. The fact that I am going to focus on doing mission work in the country makes it practically impossible for me to be confronted with a dangerous situation. I am not going to walk the streets alone at night and I am not going to show off jewelry or expensive accessories. I am practically going to blend in by being as common as a Peruvian can be and this will surely make me invisible to potential aggressors. This city is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Life In Urban America Independence and freedom were at the found of American but ironically the new urban American hindered both. With the increase of industry and growth of urban population, independence was lost. People were trapped in a constant bustle. Early cities were repugnant. They were dirty, polluted and over–crowed. Life inside the city was detestable for most. "The city's ways and forms were conceived of as too artificial and of the wrong quality to support a more life" . Warner draws forth the idea of the city as artificial which is a very troubling quality. Life in the city was artificial and created a fake way of life. This artificial form was the thing people wanted to avoid. The great populous cities of Europe were over developed and lost their uniqueness they became artificial. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Life in the agrarian society was centered around community. Within a city community is lost and so are the people. The city changed the people who lived there. "For the middle class of the late nineteenth century the rural ideal was one positive element in the complex of conditions which shifted people's attitude from being favorable to being hostile to city life" .The new urban way of life destroyed community and unity and replaced it with greed. Commerce overtook the minds of everyone. The many negative aspects of urban life also troubled the city dwellers. Cities were dirty, dangerous, and overcrowded. "The crowding of factory, foreigners with ever new languages and habits–these negative pressures tended to drive the middle class from the city" . • 6. The Rise of Illegal Drug Trade in Our Dangerous Economy Ever since drugs became illegal to be purchased in the early century the whole illegal drug trade started to rise and many individuals especially youth started to join this dangerous and illegal economy. Youths were ambitious and were attracted to this inner city business just to get money in a faster way. That is because drug selling and other illegal activities appeared to be the most effective way to get rich in a faster way. Also many of these youth would rather earn money in a dangerous way than working for someone racially superior. Many of these youngsters joined these underground jobs because of their low economic status they were trapped in. Another reason why these teenagers joined this dangerous economic is because of the autonomy they would get in this job. The fact that they can self govern themselves is essential to them because is something they weren't able to find in an entry–level job (Bourgois, Pg. 9–10). They also gained respect from the surroundings they would usually socialize with. Practically most of the youths that had joined the underground jobs have had negative experiences in the minimum–wage labor market from their racist bosses or supervisors (Bourgois, Pg. 7). One of the things the underground economy offers that the inner city doesn't is the fast short–term success. Many young people were looking for the capacity of growing to a higher social or economic position (Bourgois, Pg. 10). However, besides the higher ranking, the respect, and ... • 7. The Causes And Effects Of The United States Imagine strolling to the local grocery store, taking a morning run, or merely gathering the daily mail wearing a mask as a shield against gassy smog. Think about the terror that strikes some people when they turn on their faucets only to see a string of tainted, brown solution. Pollution affects thousands of human individuals, animals, forests, cities, and ecosystems. With shocking effects and staggering statistics, our water sources, the air we breathe, and the land upon which we live suffer from this plague. Unfortunately, the causes and effects of this universal dilemma deteriorate the health and well–being of all life forms on earth. Although land, light, and noise pollution leave their mark on this planet, air and water pollution inflict even more damage. Across the globe, from Beijing to the U.S. to Africa, we see, and contribute to the causes of pollution daily. Because of harmful chemicals that waft up to the atmosphere, the ozone faces depletion. Automobiles and other forms of transportation emit dangerous toxins, along with putrid, black smoke that spews from the exhaust pipes of large vehicles. Smoke from factories contributes generously to contamination, as well. Even natural disasters play a momentous role in air pollution as exhibited by sulfur dioxide, a volcanic gas that kills those who come in contact with it and leaves soil infertile for years (Pollution). Another substance absolutely necessary to life on earth – water – teems with pollutants. Human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Effects Of Pollution On The Environment Pollution Affects the Environment Every day, millions of humans, plants, and animals are affected by pollution. Cancer, disease, and kidney failure are just some of the rapidly increasing effects. Pollution is a growing concern that is gradually changing the way the environment and ecosystem function. With thousands of foreign and natural contaminants being pumped into the environment every day, serious action will need to be taken to reverse the life–threatening effects of pollution. Although, some could argue that pollution is mostly caused by natural chemicals; the number one leading cause of pollution is human activity. With the continued growth of human activity and modern production, pollution has reached its highest levels; causing an increase in environmental and health–related issues. Most people are unaware of the increasing pollution levels in the environment. The main reason is that many overlook the subject since most pollution is not visible. Unfortunately, although pollution is often unseen, it's effects are very present and highly dangerous. "On average, fifty thousand people die each year due to pollution in America" (Rinkesh). Approximately six million people worldwide will die from pollution each year by 2050 (Rinkesh). That is a large quantity of deaths due to something unseen. Many skeptics believe that pollution is not harmful and the health–related issues are coincidences, but that is not true. Chemicals can be poisonous. We don't drink chemicals so why would we want to breathe it? Chemical production is the highest it has ever been; causing extreme amounts of contamination and damage (World Wild Life). Pollution cannot continue to be overlooked. The related health and environmental risks are too high and too dangerous. If it keeps going unnoticed, the pollution levels will increase, and the death toll will as well. Pollution levels are getting higher each year (World Wild Life). The biggest reason is that toxic chemicals pour out of cars, chemical plants, and factories every day (World Wild Life). Although many chemicals are not dangerous; most are. In fact, some chemicals can even "travel great distances by air or accumulate in the bodies of animals and humans" (World Wild Life). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Special Weapons And Tactics Aiyana Jones. Seven years old. Innocent. She had been sleeping on a couch under a window when the SWAT team threw a flash bang grenade into her house. It landed on the couch. And then, they barged in. Her father heard the explosion, followed by a gunshot, but he was too late. A bullet had pierced her head and neck. Aiyana was dead. And the officer? Unconvicted. (F). SWAT, or Special Weapons and Tactics, is a specialized police unit equipped with military weapons, originally created to deal with high risk operations. However, today, SWAT teams are often misused and turn friendly neighborhoods into war zones. They are unwarranted forces that pose a threat to the civil liberties of American citizens. When SWAT teams were created in the late 1960s,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Department of Defense states that their mission is to "provide the military forces needed to deter war" (Department of Defense). However, local law enforcement agencies in the United States are not fighting a war, therefore, making it absurd for SWAT teams to possess military equipment. Fort Wayne, a city in Indiana with a violent crime rate of around 3.88 per 1000 people, does not need military weapons and vehicles, yet they have an arsenal of "more than two dozen assault rifles... armored vehicles... a grenade launcher," (H) and automatic rifles. It is very likely that these weapons are rarely even used, which means that they are stored somewhere in the city. This storage of surplus military grade weapons is dangerous for the community. In Utah, guns received from the Defense Department have been misplaced, which means that there are people in the community with military grade weapons. Additionally, the loss of a gun means that "the federal government can penalize an entire state's law enforcement agencies," (H), which means shutting down "every force in the state for several months" (H). Militarization of local police forces is not uncommon, and many cities across America receive military equipment from the government. From local cities, like Santa Barbara, to ones across the country, like Richland County in South Carolina (I), law enforcement agencies across the nation have access to deadly military weapons that can be unjustly used in their communities. This availability of military equipment for law enforcement agencies is a dangerous risk that the country should not take, as it has led to the death of many innocent ... • 10. Industrial Revolution Research Paper The industrial revolution is a time in history between the 18th to 19th centuries and a period in which the agricultural based, rural in Europe and America became industrialized and urbanized. Before the industrial revolution, that took place in Britain, during the late 1700s, Britain had many natural resources like coal to fuel machines, iron ore to construct machines, and buildings. At that time, many people lived in small, rural communities and majority of them worked on the land owned by the Lords. These people used hand tools or simple machines in their home for manufacturing but this changed to powered, special–purposed machinery, factories, and mass production. The textile industry for example, the processes of carding wool, spinning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also brought a high volume and a variety of factory produced goods that raised the standards of living for many people especially the middle and upper classes. However, the poor or working–class people suffered many challenges. The poor or working–class people that worked in the factories earned low wages under dangerous and tedious conditions. Children were used improperly since they had to work in the factories for long hours with little pay. Many women and children had to work in the coal mines for a cheap source of income. Many people had to move to the cities in search of factory jobs. Cities grew quickly with no plans for development. There were no sewer systems and no sanitary codes and building codes. It produced inadequate housing, education and law enforcement. Garbage piled up in the streets off the cities. People lived in unhygienic conditions in tight environments that led diseases to spread faster. The average lifespan at the time was 17 years in the cities as compared to 38 in the rural areas. There were not enough jobs for everyone so it led to overcrowding in urban areas and pollution with unsanitary conditions that caused diseases. I forged him the mighty sword, but such task was not as easy as it sounds. To be able to use the deadra heart you must get it to 450 degrees and keep it at that exact temperature for exactly 2 days. The ebony is also very hard to melt. You must use fire salts which will get the forge to the highest heat that it can get to. The next few days the warrior stayed in the town. One day I went to go talk to the man. I asked him what he does for a living. He said he was an adventurer who traveled through Skyrim diving into dungeons, and treasure hunting often. This is not an ordinary profession. The next day the sword was finished, and I presented it to him. He seemed very pleased. He admired the great design. He brought a giant's skull, one of the toughest items in Skyrim. He took the sword, and swung it at the skull. It made a clean cut. It not only had magnificent beauty, but also deadly power. Comparing The City And Uncharted Forest In Ayn Rand's Anthem The book Anthem was written in 1938 by Ayn Rand and is about what could happen to the world if we would agree to a collective society. The main two places in the novel are the City and the Uncharted Forest which both have similarities and differences. A similarity between the City and Uncharted Forest is that both have houses and towards the end of the book also that people are living in both places (Rand 88–89). There are a lot of differences in between the City and the Uncharted Forest such as that the City is completely discovered and the Uncharted forest is forbidden and undiscovered, the house that Liberty and Equality discover in the forest looks a lot different than the ones in the City, the City is called safe and never to be left whereas the forest is called dangerous and not to be entered and that there is not human life in the forest compared to the City. However, having too much of it can be dangerous. The Jews for example, during World War II, they had too much hope, and they wound up dead. Allow me to expand. As I said before, optimism (hope) is the most powerful thing in the world, with the second being fear. However, having too much of it is very dangerous. Plastic Pollution Essay With the ceaseless consumption of plastics, problems arise affecting the current state of the planet along with the existing life that depends on it, negatively impacting the future to come. As Leighton Kille and Rachael Stephens state in their Journalist's Resource article "Plastics, Human Health and Environmental Impacts: The Road Ahead," the readily usable products made of plastic create a hazard to people and the environment. Plastics, found in many products and made simple to dispose of, contain harmful chemicals that can endanger the human body as well as any animals that may encounter it. From Kille and Stephens's research, the impacts of plastics are understood to be an expanding threat to the world. Acknowledging the influence of plastic in the modern world and plastic's menace on society, I believe in the change of cities' recycling processes, encouragement of the refusal of purchasing single–use plastic products, and the education on the dangers of plastics on human health and the environment. The world that we live in has run on plastic consumption, which continues to increase as we support the companies that manufacture these items by buying their products. One of the causes of fear loss is caused by animals being too closely associated with the millions of humans that surround them on a daily basis. The animals are forced to reside in human habitat because they have nowhere else to live. The closeness can cause alterations and "some urban animals trade personal space for the convenience of the city" (Soniak). Species continue to be made to live side by side to humans and breathe the exact same air that they do. They practically share homes with humans now because of the lack of space and the excessive populations of urban wildlife. What used to be considered taboo is presently different because "the relationship between humans and large predators is changing" (Mahoney). Large predators who lose their fears and approach humans in search for food or water are put in danger because humans misunderstand the animals and what they are trying to tell them. They may view a harmless approach for food as a murder spree targeted straight at them. Another problem that follows urbanization is the harmony between humans and animals that has been around for years is now being disturbed. Massood's Black City Cinema the genre is defined by urban visual and aural iconography, which is often engaged in dialogue with its immediate socioeconomic, political and industrial contexts. Those contexts aren't solely American, but as City of God presents they're Brazilian too. Hood films can be identified by several major aspects and themes that are classically represented in City of God such as street gangs and violent gang activity, drug use and trafficking, poverty, the problems faced by young men coming of age in the hood and issues of ... Rag Tag Research Paper Since the invention of many revolutionary machines and the introduction of the railroad, life for common people has become much more challenging and much less fulfilling. The hours we are working are extreme, the pay is poor, and the working conditions are unbearable and unsafe. With life as hard as it is we would like to ask that you look inside yourself and help make our lives, your workers, easier and safer. Though inventions like the cotton gin have made farming industries larger these inventions come with a cost. A job that could have required ten men is now done with one machine leaving many people without jobs. These children work the streets pickpocketing and shoplifting. In one pick of the pocket a week's pay could be stolen. The hardships do not cease once I get to the factory. Along with the strenuous work day there is the concern with safety. The working conditions are very dangerous with dangerous parts of some machines out in the open making mutilation a very real threat. If a worker were to get hurt on the job they would be fired and get no compensation and without being able to pay bills they would be forced on the streets with the masses of homeless people. After suffering through a ninety hour work week I receive my meager paycheck. A paycheck that is barely enough to buy bread for two people, much less for an entire family. Because of this my three young sons of thirteen, eleven, and nine must work in the local textile factory if they want to eat for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children often had to work in factories instead of going to school because they needed to help their family make money. Since children were working so young, muckrakers came about. Starting in the 1890s, cities began to change. More factory jobs became available, so people moved to the cities for jobs. One example, is a cartoon of New YorkCity . It shows a big thumb of William M. Tweed, crushing the city of New York. Under the picture it says, "The Boss: 'Well, what are you going to do about it?'" This shows that the bosses have a lot of power to control the city and the average person cannot do much about it. This picture was made to frustrate people so they would demand changes in factories and in city life. The muckrakers also fought for the rights of children. John Spargo wrote in his article, "The Bitter Cry of Children", "Where the disregard of child life is such that this may done openly and with legal sanction [ approval], it is easy to believe what miners have again and again told me–– that there are hundreds of little boys of nine and ten years of age employed in the coal mines of this state." Spargo was upset that children were working in conditions like this and wanted people to know the truth about the horrible working conditions. Because of the muckrakers, factory and city life ... • 35. City Life Chapter Summaries Chapter 1 of experiencing cities was all about the foundations of the constantly growing metropolitan city. It includes everything from facts about how fast our cities are growing to city as a state of mind. But the section that intrigued me the most was "symbolic interactionism and the study of city life." symbolic interactivity means that people are the ones who play an active role in their environment. In other words the area you live in is going to be determined by the way you interact with others and how you live your life. This idea was not one that shocked me but allowed me to grasp a greater understanding as to why different cities are the way they are. For example, i'm from a small town in California with little to no crime. It is a pretty affluent area and people are pretty friendly. However you drive about 30 miles and you are now in one of the most dangerous cities in america, Oakland California. Here deadly shootings are a regular basis along with many other crimes. The citizens of these towns are usually right at the or below the poverty line. So to introduce this theory to me gives me a greater understanding as to why certain cities are dangerous and some aren't. It simply... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. The Apology Of Socrates In Book I Of The Republic The Apology shows how other people perceive Socrates actions and how Socrates himself perceives his actions; these different views are then evident in Book I of the Republic. The Greek word "apologia" means defense. In The Apology of Socrates, Socrates is defending himself and his actions because of the accusations against him corrupting the youth, atheism, and making the weaker argument the stronger. As a philosopher,Socrates is dangerous to the city because of the relationship between reason and revelation. Reason seeks to find why things are done in a certain way, and if they are found to be done in an inadequate way, this inquisition calls into question the authority who are over the city. People often think that their way of life and the good way of life is the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Socrates asks if it is good to give back a madman a weapon he had loaned, because while that fits Cephalus' definition of justice, it is clear that no one could benefit from it. It is because of Socrates innocently challenging important well–respected men that was accused and put on trial. Polemarchus takes on a similar definition of justice: "justice is going good to friends and harm to enemies" (I, 332d). As a refutation to this, Socrates brings up the point that not every friend is actually a good person and not every enemy is bad, which would be doing injustice to that person. Disproving Polemarchus could be thought of as an example where Socrates is corrupting the youth which leads to his being on trial. Thrasymachus argues that justice is the interest of the stronger. When Thrasymachus makes this case, Socrates does not inquire but cross examines him, which gives the impression that Socrates just wishes to put Thrasymachus out of business and does not care about actually changing his mind. This also, presents another opportunity for Socrates to be accused of "corrupting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joan Didon is writing from her point as an adult, looking back into her twenties, while she was in the city of New York. She romantically writes about the city of New York, as a paradise for people in their twenties. New York is a city filled with adventure, and she is thankful for her time that she had spent in the city. Joan Didon was a young, idealistic writer, searching for an audience in the city of New York. She recalls her experience as a struggle, but also a fun time in her life, which helped her find herself, and in the end she found her husband as well. The city is notorious fast. It draws in people who are dreamers. These are people who are ambitious. The can be very poor or very wealthy. It is not a place for people who are settled in their life or people who are at the end of their life." I want to explain to you, and in the process perhaps myself, why I no longer live in New York. The three ways that I find to be some major ways is, the person might not be ready, the outside is full of dangerous people, and that the person might get with the wrong group and get into bad things. Reason 1 of why I think that going out the front is dangerous is that, the person might not just not be ready. There are many reasons why a person might not be ready. They might not have the right education that they should have, they might not be the best at getting a job. There could be many ways of why someone might not have the proper education. First they might be a dropout so they never finished high school. In my opinion high school is one of the most important times to get good grades.
