2. Performance
• the band have a performance element to demonstrate their
instruments. Also, to show they’re a typical four piece band
supporting the stereotypes of society. This particular band
performs in a studio, which you’re able to see as there is studio
equipment and there is a long shot of them playing through the
glass.
• Drugs and alcohol are used during the video with shots of
cigarettes and the members drinking in a pub together. This
could be seen as them being close friends or like a family
having a good time.
• Women are featured in the video both visually and lyrically,
some of the lyrics are referenced to women and there are shots
of a woman dancing in the studio. There are also close up
shots of female parts to show how some men see women as
objects. This supports Laura Mulveys theory of the Male Gaze.
4. Camera angles
• Camera angles: Mainly close ups, mid shots and
long shots. Close up shots are normally on a
specific person like a girl or a band member, even a
guitar. The mid shots are normally of the band as a
unit, with some long shots also supporting this.
5. Actions
• hand slaps, big movements and foot tapping, the
hand slapping embraces the band as a family and
portray to the viewer that there is more to them than
just the music.
• Fast on beat transitions are continuous throughout
the video, the song has a fast tempo and there is a
variation of shots used in the video. Within the guitar
solo the shots are extremely quick and focus on the
band performing.
