3. Mise en scene
• Starts off a dull scene, no vibrant colors. However the lighting gets righter throughout
suggesting a climax and I feel of tension throughout the video.
• This setting is in a house that is decorated this round small fairy lights draped across the
walls. This is hiding the fact that whilst there is a tracking shot the room that is skims past is
broken and full of rubbish. The lights are also one of the only sources of lights, this makes
them creative is the meaning that they are surviving in their own way with magical fairy
lights.
• The main singer that we saw as the main appearance had an acoustic guitar in his hand
singing and playing. This shows the image of the artist being mellow with his voice and non
electric guitar.
• What is found quite unique about this video is that in part of the video the base is created by
the stomping of feet.
4. Mise en scene
• The band was wearing casual clothing the only color linking each other was white shirts and
they wore black braces with black hats. This is considered casual so quite divers to a rock
band that would wear the opposite color: Black. This gives this particular genre a softer look
because of the more mellow tone all together.
• The band play a minor role during the narrative. For example when they were in the club
with a group full of people. This could be seen as a part of the narrative, the unknown
narrative really as the story isn’t as clear as other videos.
• Also there were soft romantic things found and noticed in the video to compliment the mood
and atmosphere of the song, for example: the pink roses and the round fairy lights.
5. Cinematography
• It stars with a tracking shot, that shows the audience the setting. It
tracks through the whole corridor until it reaches the first
appearance of the lead singer.
• Long shot of the lead singer. This is to show the audience what his
appearance is and to see the whole of him with his guitar.
• Zooms into a mid shot of the lead artist singing. This is so that the
audience can now start to piece his facial features together.
• There were eventual close ups of all members of the band.
6. Editing
• Fast pace editing, it was on the beat throughout the video and during the
climax the shots cut ever 4th beat.
• Due to this is gives the audience time to enjoy every shot and it makes it
a lot smoother and nicer to watch, keeping the audience interested and
not confused by the vast random shots.
