• Within indie-rock music videos it
is very common to have
performance in the video.
• When researching indie-rock
music videos, I have noticed
that it is popular to show
scenes of a live performance,
with instruments and on a
stage.
• Showing the band members
performing also the viewers to
really think about how they are
good musicians, and that the
music is there's.
• It also promotes the band
members, and helps sell tours
as viewers will think about how
in the video they are good at
performing.

3. NARRATIVE
• Another popular thing
within indie-rock videos
is the inclusion of a
story, narrative.
• The inclusions of the
story helps to add
meaning, as well as
emotion to the song.
• Within indie-rock videos
the narrative part of
the video is used to
break up the
performance sections
of the video.

4. MISE-EN-SCENE
• A classic, old fashioned with a twist appearance is
often used, a retro style.
• This style is portrayed through the clothes, settings
and props they use.
• I have noticed that a lot use natural settings,
especially for the narrative sections of the video,
and a stage for the performance sections.
• The clothing choice is often casual, rather than
wacky clothes that you would expect from pop
music videos.

5. EDITING
• I have noticed that
indie-rock videos
often use invisible
editing, as it flows,
which links to the
music style.
• Invisible – this editing
type is used so you
can’t see the cuts
between, making the
video flow, and editing
is unnoticeable to the
viewers.
• Montage – this type of
editing is when the cuts
between scenes is
obvious, where the
viewers can see that
different clips have
been put together.
