3. Websites/online applications
Mahara
We constantly used Mahara to show what research and planning we’d been doing in preparation
to make our trailer. We made many different posts on our group planning where we had
meetings during lesson to discuss the ideas that we had for the film so that we could finally
create the whole plot of the film, as well as finding out other important things such as the mise
en scene in the film. We also made sure we had individual posts where we done our own research
into things such as costumes for characters and specific lighting techniques we’d need to use,
along with many other things which helped with planning.
4. Websites/online applications
YouTube
We used YouTube for many different things, such as finding inspiration for what we
could create with our film by searching up and looking at other teaser trailers of the
same genre and what conventions of a thriller we needed to include in ours. It also
helped us to find a soundtrack for the trailer which fitted well with the genre of our
film. The soundtrack was one which would typically be heard in a thriller trailer and we
made sure we matched the action on screen to the interesting music. As well as this we
also uploaded our rough cut and final edit on to YouTube.
5. Software
Photoshop
We created both our poster and magazine cover using
Photoshop as we felt it was the best piece of software we could
use to create and edit our images. Photoshop was the software
we were all familiar with using for creating images so we thought
it’d be best to use it for our images as we each knew how to use
the tools on their in order to make good professional looking
products. We also use it during our research and planning stage
as we came up with different magazine and poster drafts where
we showed what ideas we had for our final product and whether
it was suitable or not.
6. Software
Final Cut Pro
We used Final Cut Pro to edit and complete the entire trailer. We selected all the clips we
wanted to use, cropped them down to get the exact footage we wanted and then put them in
order of where they needed to be placed in the trailer. We added a soundtrack and made
sure that the action on screen matched the pace and intensity of the music. As well as this we
also added in transitions and titles.
7. Computer equipment and devices
We used the Mac’s in the classroom to edit and finish all three our products that we
were creating. They had Photoshop and Final Cut Pro already installed in them which
was important as we used both software to create our products. We also used the
Macs during our research and planning and found them very easy to use.
8. Digital camera equipment
(Canon 80D)
We used the Canon 80D camera for all of our filming and still shots. The cameras are
high quality which make the film look professional and makes our trailer look much
more realistic. We filmed in 1080p in 24fps.
