1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
2. In the Process of creating the film it was important to know how to use the
equipment effectively such as the videos, camera, dolly and tripod.
The digital technology was the most useful when our group were doing our
research. The internet had a big role in constructing our product. This
allowed us to research different horror films in IMD and look for films that
have similar characteristics to our film opening. IMD provided us with the
names of the directors and the synopsis of films. We then used YouTube to
analyse aspects of the opening and pick out what gave us inspiration.
Another method that we used to access the film opening was Art of Title, this
has allowed us to look at a range of openings and other genres which
inspired us for our own opening. The internet also gave us access to do
research on horror film directors and narrative theories on search engines
like Google. We also used the internet to write our blogs on Haverstock
media blog which we used to store our ideas and work. To present our work
in the blogs we used different software’s such as Prezi, Slide Share and Slide
Rocket. An online presentation programs that allowed our work to be
animated and to have a professional look. Lastly we also used online filming
sites to upload our film such as Vimeo to export the film to our blog to be
shown.
3. The digital software was on Mac desktops that was also used to edit our
films for example to edit the opening we used a program Final Cut pro.
This technology enables us to make multiple edits and sequences
therefore we could make changes and get feedback. This also enabled us
to delete unwanted footage as well as slow down the pace of the film
and add effects. To create the titles and the opening credits we used a
program Live Type, which allowed us to make the font and add effects to
suit the convention of horror films. Also the type of calligraphy we
planned that was inspired from previous films. The background music of
our film was made on another program Garage Band this gave us a
selection of sounds intended for horror films which merged together to
make our music. Furthermore we adapted the music by having a
recording done on a portable recorder speaker which we added to the
background music.
