1. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
2. Final Cut Pro
When editing our teaser trailer we used Final cut to put together our shots we
had filmed and add all the extra pieces to create our teaser trailer.
We used final cut to add in the music we used and then added in sound effects
for different parts of the trailer such as a gun shot and bullet drop.
We also used final cut to cut together all of the shots we had then worked out
different shot orders we could use and played around with different lightings
till we settled on a saturated effect.
3. Mahara
We used Mahara to keep track of all of our research and planning in
the pre-production stages of our teaser trailer. It has been helpful when
creating our teaser trailer as we all updated our journals on it so we
could check on pieces of research on someone’s journal if they didn’t
come in that day or so that we could save information for a later date
when looking up magazine covers or genre conventions.
4. Photoshop
We used Photoshop in the post-production stage of our marketing campaign. We used it to
develop and edit our photos and create a poster and magazine cover for our film.
In Photoshop we were able to cut out our characters using the lasso tools and magic eraser. I
then used Photoshop tutorials to learn how to create my own smoke without getting pictures
of smoke off the internet. I then replicated what I had seen and used it to create the smoke for
both pieces.
We also used a number of different things Photoshop gives us, such as changing the opacity of
the text or use shapes and text to create adverts and other parts found in film magazine
covers.
5. YouTube
Another new media technology we used throughout the creation of our teaser
trailer was YouTube. This was one of our best sources of information when
researching the genre and conventions as we used it to watch other teaser
trailers in our genre such as American Gangster and Legend.
We also used it however in the post-production stages because we uploaded our
rough cut and final edit to YouTube to get feedback on our products. I also used it
to look up Photoshop tutorials when I was unsure on how to edit or create
certain things when creating our magazine cover such as a smoke brush.
