Concept of cell
 Cell : the basic structure and functional unit found in
organisms(excluding virus) .
 cell are the smallest unit found in any organism.
 cell are mainly composed of the nucleus and the
cytoplasm , there are cell membrane on the surface.
 cells require and consumes energy , and they have the abillity to
replicate and reproduce themsleves and evolve.
 cells store genetic material that process genetic information
PART i
 1 What do cells need to live in the environment that
surrounds a typical cell?
 2 What features form the basic design of a simple cell
and will address a cell's basic needs?
 3What biosynthetic processes are needed to fulfill a
cell's basic needs?
q1What do cells need to live in the environment that surrounds a typical cell?
 When creating an environment for a cell to grow(Biocytoculture).
There are many things to consider.
 Different types of cells require different environments, methods of
atthachment, and routines. There are various aspects to consinder in
the environment.
 Bio labs where biocytoculture are carried out in specific isolated
areas to avoid unneccessary walk-ins. the working environment needs
to be clean at all time, allow fresh air, dry and possibly spot free. The
environment must be sterile and under certain contaminant level and
prevent other harmful factors(example: allow other bacteria and
fungus to grow) that can potentially dammage the cell.
 Cell are often cultured in solutes(serum) that are contained in Petri
dish, and the solute concentration is very important. The environment
must set at the most preferrbale for the cell to grow healthy, and need
to be monitored under certain 02 and c02 level. The environment
provided needs nutrients for cell to grow and waste to remove, cells
need to live under certain ph level(7.2-7.4).
Aseptic operation table
This equipment allow the operator to control the contaminant level
Aseptic operation table
 Non-toxic and sterile culture environment is a must to
ensure cell survival. When the cells were placed in the
solutes when compared to natural form, the
microorganisms and toxic defense capability are weak or
lost. Once, they are contaminated or their metabolites
accumulate, can lead to cell death.
 Therefore, maintaining cell survival. Environmental
pollution aspects are very important, the timely removal
of metabolites is to maintain the basic conditions for cell
survival.
q2 : What features form the basic design of a simple cell and will address a cell's
basic needs?
 energy and carbon are the cell's basic needs.
 cells requires supplies of energy to function and to stay alive. Where
do energy come from?
 Cells need food molecules, sugars can oxidized into carbon and
water, and this is very important when potentially producing chemical
energy(ATP,NADH,etc) at cellular level. Carbon based sugars can
penetrate the cell membrane(selectively permeable) that are located on
the surface of the cell, then to give energy and carbon.
 Glucose carries out the task of the metbolism in organisms, they
keep cells alive and give energy to replicate cells. Carbon and water
are the fundamental material to create Glucose(six carbon sugar), and
glycolysis extracts the ATP and multiplies it.
q3.What biosynthetic processes are needed to fulfill a cell's basic needs?
 In a not controlled natural environment, cells undergo the most
important biosnythetic processes of cellular respiration, this allow
cells to create and store usable energy in the form of ATP.
 Cellular respiration is an enzymatic oxidation process. The
intracellular process of decomposing organics and chemicals to
produce energy. All animals and plants cellular undergoes this
activity. Basic cellular activities need to consume energy, and the
energy created and stored in the organism carbohydrates, lipids has
very important significance.
 In the controlled process of Biocytoculture, cultured cells are kept in
solutes(serums) that provide the needed nutrients that keep them
alive.
