of her books to become an international success. One normal day before work, Oscar
witnesses his partner Lily collapse, after being rushed to hospital Lily is diagnosed with a
terminal illness.
Oscar cares for Lily, who stays in her bed for the few weeks, after being released from
hospital, she is however, very weak and tired. Meanwhile Oscars work is piling up, and he
comes under a lot of work stress. Her friends (…) decide to take Lily out for the day, giving
Oscar a break, with an attempt to get her out of the house, and to cheer the both of them
up. Whilst out, Oscar begins to tidy the room which Lily is staying in, cleaning the sheets and
making the room look like a better environment. Whilst doing so, Oscar finds a note under
Lily’s pillow, which soon appears to be a bucket list, featuring everything she wants to do
before she dies. Oscar is upset by what he sees. He notices that marriage is one of the things
upon this list, and believes that maybe he has neglected the relationship which the two
have had, so therefore takes it upon himself, to try and complete the list of wishes, before it
is too late. He however, places the list back where he originally found it, to ensure that she
would not notice, that he had taken it.
When Lily returns that evening, Oscar has surprised Lily with a meal for the two of them, at
the meal he tells her that it is advised that she takes a rest for the next couple of days, but
first he takes her star gazing, ticking off the first of many from her bucket list
Other ideas found on Lily’s list include; getting engaged, meeting someone she has always
wanted to meet, buy a house together, ice skate and rock climb, among others.
When Oscar takes Lily to the beach, so she can see a sun set, he proposes to her, ensuring
that they get married, to complete her list further, Oscar initiates that it should be in Vegas,
another key item on bucket list
It is soon discovered that Lily is forbidden to fly to Las Vegas. This effects the couple a lot,
and Oscar fears himself that it has taken for Lily to get ill, for him to realise that he should
marry her. The couple attempt more and more to try and work something out between the
two, however do not find an alternate idea before it is too late
Lily falls more and more ill, till eventually she becomes bed bound, and one night, when
surrounded by her fiancé and family, she closes her eyes.
At Lily’s funeral he takes it upon himself to finish writing the book Lily was writing, and get it
published so her bucket list is then completed.
